Now that’s the sort of picture I want to see more of in 2020! Has RBA (I think it’s him) forgotten his trunks? Grin

magimedi · 01/01/2020 13:17

WTF is a 'Carson'???

Confused
PrivateSpidey · 01/01/2020 13:20

magi it's a new hoover, a rip off of a Dyson Grin

It's not, sorry. He's a character from Downton Abbey, the butler!

Fizzy based on those beach photos they should award the trophy to Spain without further ado.

I agree Spidey Grin I’ve just had to have another look at it (might have had to zoom in - Rafa’s trunks are a bit short - not that I’m complaining Blush)

JaneJeffer · 01/01/2020 13:35

rip off of a Dyson Grin

Sorry about the bad photo quality. Here's a link to clearer photos rafaelnadalfans.com/2020/01/01/photos-rafael-nadals-exciting-first-day-of-2020-on-stunning-rottnest-island-in-western-australia/

JaneJeffer · 01/01/2020 13:40

You're not supposed to do any cleaning on NY day because you'll sweep/wash away the good luck. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Kitchen is a bombsite though Sad

kazzaD66 · 01/01/2020 13:51

Does anyone know if and where the ATP Cup is being broadcast here?

PrivateSpidey · 01/01/2020 13:58

That's a good superstition Jane - will be sticking to that one.

All I've done today is wash up the plastic decorations from the Christmas cake and put them away for next Christmas. The icing always sticks solidly to the reindeer's hooves Hmm

PrivateSpidey · 01/01/2020 13:59

I think it's on Prime kazza

Ooh thanks Jane that website should keep me busy for a few hours - looks like they’re having fun.

I thought that you weren’t supposed to do any washing on New Years Day but I’m happy to go along with the no housework thing as well.

Wish the tennis was on now although I guess the players should be allowed a bit of time off.

JaneJeffer · 01/01/2020 15:50

I think I'm getting the lurgy. I've put a sneaky shot of kahlua in my coffee to give me a bit of energy to get dinner done.

PrivateSpidey · 01/01/2020 16:00

Grin I like your style Jane - hope it staves off the lurgy.

I had a rubbish NYE, everyone went to bed, I cried myself to sleep on the sofa before 10pmBlush. To be fair, I'm a bit hormonal, on top of the fact NY and my birthday bring out the worst in me. I really need to cut myself some some slack, and stop feeling so guilty all the time. I have already failed in this resolution to myself.

I was awake at 2.30am, having missed the fireworks and not knowing what day it was , and I couldn't get back to sleep.

I have just taken DD2 to see 'Frozen 2' at the cinema, as she missed her trip the weekend as she was ill. It wasn't too bad. I managed to stay awake at least Grin.

I am supposed to be washing the dog. He is going to the groomer tomorrow and he stinks . It has been so wet and rainy lately. It's a bit like people who clean before the cleaner comes- I really don''t think it is is fair to send him to the groomer in the state that he is in. Grin. He is a bit knotty- I'm not convinced he will come back looking very schnauzery Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 01/01/2020 16:57

Sorry you had a rubbish NYE Raahh - it’s a very overrated night - try not be too hard on yourself Flowers

The Rafa in shorts emerging from the sea pictures definitely cheered me up - they reminded me of Daniel Craig in Casino Royale Smile. Might need to add it to my kitchen collection (see how long it lasts!)

Hope you manage to avoid the lurgy Jane - I’m having a medicinal G&T - I’m not ill just fancied one Grin. Just watching the end of The Sound of Music - another very long film!

Fizzywinegum · 01/01/2020 17:05

Love it when the nuns sabotage the car (spoiler alert!)

PrivateSpidey · 01/01/2020 17:17

Raahh I agree with Fizzy - please don't be too hard on yourself Sad. This time of year can be bloody hard enough as it is. Flowers and Gin for you, whether medicinal or not.

Fizzy I didn't realise the Sound of Music was on, I love a good nun film!

We've been watching Back to the Future 2, my DS loves 80s films so that's usually what we end up watching.

He's just thrown a strop though because I said he can't order McDonald's tonight Hmm - I mean, there's plenty of unhealthy food in the house, I refuse to shell out for more!

Fizzy your kitchen wall art collection sounds amazing Grin 💕

DS got an Amazon fire for Christmas so now I can go all out on the wallpaper on mine Wink

Thank you all- I feel really awful bringing the thread down, but I felt a bit gloomy. I feel like I bore people and I hate it. Even the dog looks fed up Grin. I do appreciate you all- the tennis is my 'safe' space, and my escape.

This year- I have promised myself, next time dh and I go out we will not talk about any problems.

Which means we probably won't talk at all. GrinOr it will be all about his football team- and the dog Grin.

Raahh · 01/01/2020 17:43

And I LOVE Back to the Future 2. Have seen it so many times. Still find bits I don't remember seeing!

PrivateSpidey · 01/01/2020 17:53

I feel BTTF 2 is quite underrated Raahh - the first one is my favourite but 2 and 3 are good as well! Apparently there is going to be a cinema release next year for some anniversary of it that will make us feel ancient no doubt (35 years?!).

Please don't apologise, you aren't bringing the thread down. Tennis is a brilliant way to escape real life I agree, even if it is annoying at times in its own way!!

OP posts:
Raahh · 01/01/2020 18:06

Private oh, tennis can be very very frustrating. Especially when the wrong people win.

Grin

I can't believe how old BTTF is. ALL of them. I remember seeing the first one at the cinema.made me feel old as did the thread I have just read a thread about seeing in the NY at the Millennium. I thought that was possibly one of the last times I actually went out out - but no, funny storyGrin- the last time I went out over NYE was another kidney related incident about 12 years ago, when I ended up in hospital with a really bad kidney infection on NYE.

I know how to party. And my kidneys clearly hate me. Grin.

JaneJeffer · 01/01/2020 18:29

Sorry you're feeling down Raahh. I hope this year is better for you.

I'm now stuffed with dinner and on the wine! I think my lurgy was caused by pollen from flowers SIL gave me. They've been banished to the porch.

DH has gone to bed but wants to be back up for the footie at 8!

I love BTTF. I saw the last half hour of the first one on Monday. I remember going to see it in the cinema too.

PrivateSpidey · 02/01/2020 11:08

This ATP Cup business goes on for 9 days!! Confused

I've just been watching a video of Tim Henman introducing the GB team, and he's supposed to say something about each team member - quite funny. Tim seems pretty relaxed - well, they all do tbh.

Jane glad to hear the lurgy has gone Smile

OP posts:
Raahh · 02/01/2020 12:14

9 days!!

Wow Grin

Thats a long time and very close to the start of the Aussie open really (for those that get to the business end, and are likely to do well there).

I have just taken the dog to the groomer. His 2020 has started about as well as mine. I knew it would be bad (his beard was quite matted due to extensive digging in the garden, and he hates me me brushing it). It could not be saved.

He looks like an over grown jack russell Sad. I'm a bit cross she removed his eyebrows though- there wasn't really any need for that. So he doesn't look like a schnauzer at all Sad.
