Did anyone see the cute hugging between karim and AJ in Saturday's programme? They seemed very sweet together

I didn't think it was cute - I thought it was a slightly cynical attempt to set tongues wagging.

PawFives · 09/12/2019 13:00

Have to agree with PP, it’s all a bit meh this year. I’ll watch the final, but there’s no real excitement. I think it’s because it’s been so over manipulated by the producers - trying to push Mike as the comedy even when the audience clearly didn’t want it (got the impression he didn’t either), too obvious ‘bussing’ once they wanted someone out, overmarking Emma once they decided Anton should be in the final, too many themes even in non theme weeks, terrible music, couples choice & the X factor style VTs. To name a few Smile It also didn’t help that some with potential like Dev went out too soon, Will has to leave and Catherine leaving early meant we lost Johannes too.

PawFives · 09/12/2019 13:01

*Will had to leave

VanyaHargreeves · 09/12/2019 13:23

There's usually one each series that I take against for some reason, usually the ringer

Karim this year
Ashley last
Tom Chambers many moons ago, the ringiest ringer who ever rang

But I also couldn't stand Joe Sugg and that was because I had read so many threads from parents who had been massively ripped off by him and cronies via manipulating kids

LittleAndOften · 09/12/2019 14:06

Others like Brad Pitt, Carlos is my pin up I luffs him ❤️

Let's get Carlos on the next series. If you're going to do ringadingadingdongers you may as well go all in Grin

LittleAndOften · 09/12/2019 14:07

@DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh sky hooks? Hmm

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 09/12/2019 14:14

That'll be it, Little

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2019 14:29

I was impressed at the start though, there didn't seem to be any real beginners except Mike. The standard has been generally very high, which perhaps has made us too blase`. There's no way I could deal with learning those complex dances in less than a week and a half!! And I have had some dance experience.

Shame that the lighting and staging has been so in yer face. Although poor Vicki was saying that she carefully chooses costume colours NOT to clash with the background, it doesn't seem that the workers bother to tell her!!! Dave Arch only manages to get the singers right on every other tune too. BUT it's a fun show and I'll miss it and you lot Xmas Grin

NumbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsStation · 09/12/2019 14:30

Hot air coming from the luvvies could also keep him aloft. Maybe.

Equanimitas · 09/12/2019 15:16

I always feel slightly sorry for ringers and their partners - they will almost inevitably get to the finals and therefore have to work their socks off for weeks on end, and the reality is that in most cases they stand no chance of winning. I know there have been one or two who have got away with it, but the really blatant ringers like Ashley and Karim were never going to make it.

lynsey91 · 09/12/2019 15:20

@ppeatfruit Chris was a complete beginner (never danced at all) and so was Anika.

Chris has made this year for me. I don't care that he was not as good as some of the others. I have loved watching him learn to dance and to fall in love with dancing. I found him and his dances entertaining, far more so that some of the other better dancers.

I noticed when Karen was talking about Chris the camera panned to the judges and Motsi just looked really bored. Then when they judges started to clap she was so half hearted. Really not keen on her

DontFearTheReaper · 09/12/2019 15:33

I think Chris knows his brand, he has a podcast with his wife, a big tour next year, he doesn’t want to mess it up with any kind of gossip. But it did make it look awkward at the end as they didn’t know what to do.

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2019 15:41

Yes I know but he wasn't a hopeless non dancer (obviously) ! if you see what I mean, he didn't stomp about like Mike neither did Anneka, though she didn't seem to want to be there.

Equanimtas But if they actually told the truth, they would get my respect, I wonder if the producers tell them not say anything about their experience? Because Michelle's blatant " I'm a mother and a singer" didn't sound like the truth and when she danced it was obvious that it wasn't Grin

I

Samcro · 09/12/2019 15:44

chris was the best thing this year for me. maybe not the best dancer. but just so nice.
Motsi. was so off this week. she spent a lot of time fiddling with her dress and couldn't even pretend to judge anyone.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 09/12/2019 15:44

I thought he was hopeless at the start. Definitely in the Duffer category for me.

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 09/12/2019 16:21

Same here.

And I also think that Motsi is a waste of space.

Samcro · 09/12/2019 16:26

i really hope she doesn't come back next year. at least Darcy gave help and did her job.

kazzaD66 · 09/12/2019 16:39

Oh, how soon we fickle viewers forget ppeatfruit
James Cracknell and David James, anyone? Xmas Grin

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 09/12/2019 16:46

I would have liked to see David James have one more week as he'd begun to improve.

lynsey91 · 09/12/2019 16:47

I also hope Motsi doesn't come back next year. She offers no constructive comments positive or not so positive, she shrieks and shouts and she is making Shirley worse too. They are two grown women who are meant to be judging a dance show but they act like teenagers and are often very unprofessional in my view

LittleAndOften · 09/12/2019 18:16

Shirley and motsi are like the ofsted inspectors of the dance world - totally subjective, biased towards their own personal taste and they make erratic judgements that no one else can fathom.

TheSquitz · 09/12/2019 18:34

Just found the thread so saving a place. I have watched Kelvin's paso quite a lot over the past couple of days.

Wolfcub · 09/12/2019 18:38

Lilija hasn't changed a bit. Darren looks completely different

xsquared · 09/12/2019 18:44

Ooh, are they on ITT now? I'm cooking atm.

Encyclo · 09/12/2019 18:50

I loved Lilija back in the day, she looks fab
