TheMustress Now that's what I call duty!! You stayed up ALL NIGHT reading these threads , they're good but ........... Hmm

NumbersStation · 02/12/2019 09:05

I can understand that the beak could be a bit intense if he thinks that he is in with a shot of winning. But having to look at that inane grin every day would probably cause me to drift towards doing something to earn me a judicial hanging.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2019 09:23

Here - have a rictus!

lynsey91 · 02/12/2019 09:24

I really wish there had been no elimination this weekend due to the problems with voting. Then it would have been a 4 couple final (as it should have been.

Lots of people on twitter, facebook and digital spy saying they didn't realise the voting time was being extended so didn't vote. Also some saying even with the time extension it never enable them to vote. Others saying rather than getting 3 free votes they got 10 or more and some saying unlimited free votes!

Of course it quite possibly would still have been Alex and Chris in the dance off but considering every other time Chris was at the bottom of the board he avoided the dance off I am really not sure.

Still he is in the semi final which I am overjoyed about.

I agree with the poster who said about the music matching the dance. I don't know much about dance but even I know when the music no way is suitable for, say, a paso or a tango and it really annoys me.

Wheresthebeach · 02/12/2019 09:41

I presume the view is that it affected all dancers in the same way, hence still viewed as valid result.

Chris has had higher scores in the past, I do think the right two couples were in the dance off but think Chris’s music didn’t fit the dance.

NumbersStation · 02/12/2019 09:46

Rictus accepted @SchadenfreudePersonified

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 09:58

@ppeatfruit

Ah, but I generally prefer my bed as much as the next person.

Just couldn't sleep. V. annoying - so I had a look at the threads on offer on MN - and discovered the thousand-poster which was your previous thread.

I have to say that it was well-worth staying up for.

It did not disappoint.

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 09:59

@NumbersStation

Malkie by Jazz Hands was removed from the Scottish Statute as late as 1974, you will be interested to learn.

LittleAndOften · 02/12/2019 10:11

Agreed about the music! I particularly hate them doing a waltz to a 4/4 rather than 3/4 beat. AJ and Saffron did it this series. It gives me the rage!

NumbersStation · 02/12/2019 10:22

Is that so @TheMustressMhor ?

I trust that stealth auditioning is still punishable by a good hoof in the fleckerl? Grin

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 10:45

@LittleAndOften

I have tried (and failed) to explain to DH why it is (or should be) impossible to dance a waltz to a dance in duple or quadruple time.

It gives me the rage, too. Both watching and listening while they do it and then having a six-hour discussion with DH afterwards, who is not musical in any way.

I fail to understand why the professional dancers do not object when the music choices are sent in their direction.

DarlingNikita · 02/12/2019 10:59

Haven't RTFT, so apologies if I'm repeating others, but I thought that decision was a bad one.
Alex danced better. Craig and Motsi basically said that, in not so many words. The style of the dance was not her fault. She would also have gone on to dance better than Chris, who let's face it is basically a lucky duffer, in the semi-final. Chris, to his credit, seems to know it too.
Shirley explicitly saying she made her choice on personal taste is out of order.

Alex could have been a lot less gracious in defeat. She is a class act.

lynsey91 · 02/12/2019 11:09

I enjoyed Chris' dance more than Alex's so happy with the decision. Chris was 1 point ahead of Alex on the leader board because Shirley gave him that extra point. So it made sense that she would save him unless he had really messed up the dance off.

He was absolutely gobsmacked to be the one that went through. His face when Shirley saved him was a picture. I also noted that he said "so sorry" to Alex.

Alex is a lovely girl but I prefer Chris in the semi final if not the final

melj1213 · 02/12/2019 11:33

Nah, vent away melj the new producer might take notes and go back to series 1 old school. Certainly the vts this year have been more to do with training than the usual comedy bollocks.

That's another thing I hated, when they try to force the comedy- stop it. Just let the VTs be about the training week and the celeb or info about the specific dance they are doing. I dont need themed VTs, it's bad enough that every dance has a theme the VTs dont need them too!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2019 12:03

**

If it could return the show to the PURITY of the DAAAHNCE, I am prepared to risk it, removal from the statute books or not!

I would start with the producers . . . .

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 12:12

Malkie by Jazz Hands

I believe that the prolific serial killer Peter Manuel was accused of this offence (briefly) but the Procurator Fiscal considered that there was insufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

Personally I think the charge should have remained on the list. He might conceivably have got a Not Proven verdict.

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 12:13

Hey, Schadenfreude - who would you like to Malkie, and why?

Moi - that frightful female Shirley Ballas.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2019 12:27

What!?

I have to justify my insane rage?

Okay then - after all of the producers and directors who are ignoring our please for results on a Saturday night, proper dancing, decent music, and costumes that haven't come from the pound shop - . . . .

I agree re: Shirley Ballas, and to that I would add Motsi, who is really, really getting on my wick with her stupid gushing and non-criticisms . . .

Whoever sorts Tess's costumes out . . .

Whoever told Claud that her "squinting through a slightly too long fringe" was a good look for her . . .

Whoever allocates the dances

Ditto music

Tess - for all of the "Aaaaaw! Look at your little face!" comments

Mini-Malkie for Bruno because HE JUST WON"T SIT DOWN!!!! (He would have got a Full Malkie except that week that the scoreboards broke down he redeemed himself)

Full Malkie for Alfonso Ribeiro because he is too invested in being Alfonso Ribeiro and has too high an opinion of himself

Ditto for whoever thought it would be a good idea for Mike to do Alfonso's shite dance with Alfonso - such blatant sycophancy should not go unpunished

Craig - I would leave Craig unscathed, and also most of the professionals (though I would be tempted to just Mini-Malkie AJ just because I could; I would not soil my Jazz hands on Anton) because they are doing their best under insurmountable odds, sometimes

I would give huge Jazz Hands Cuddles to Dave Arch and Trevor in the Hat.

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 12:33

Though I would be tempted to just Mini-Malkie AJ just because I could

Oh, so would I.

And why stop at a Mini-Malkie?

AJ deserves The Works.

Schadenfreude, you have given a cogent and compelling summation of all the things that are wrong with Strictly. I fully agree with all you say.

Which begs the question - why do we watch it week in, week out?

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 12:34

Costumes from the Pound Shop

Trebles all round to that sentiment.

MaggieFS · 02/12/2019 12:36

I vote for @SchadenfreudePersonified to be a guest editor on Strictly a bit like Today does at Christmas. Summed it up perfectly IMHO

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2019 12:36

For the apres-Strictly, Mhor - these threads - sharing intellectual debate and sparkling repartee with like-minded individuals who have only the PURITY OF THE DAAAAAHNCE in their hearts.

I've had a think, and you're right. I'm going to upgrade AJ to Maxi-Malkie.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2019 12:37

Thank you Maggie

TheMustressMhor · 02/12/2019 12:45

PURITY OF THE DAAAAAAAHNCE

Ah, but can we truly say that this is upmost in our minds when we consider what to post next?

I am glad, Schadenfreude, that you have upgraded the smirky-faced prat, AJ Pritchard, to a Complete Malkie.

It's a good thing for you that this offence is no longer on the statute.

You can Get Away With It and Trebles All Round Yet Again To That.
