Last thread here.

The Glitterball gets ever closer!

I was watching CBeebies with DS2 when Karim popped up. I knew he was CBBC but I've never seen him on CBeebies before.

Horsemad · 04/12/2019 13:47

Ooh, Danny Mac & Oti dancing to Misty Blue; sends shivers down my spine. Gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS!!!

FagashJackie · 04/12/2019 14:23

Thank you Zoidbergonthehalfshelf

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 04/12/2019 14:36

Welcome Smile

Numbers How about if SCD changed their marking system to 'hobble' the ringahs; So make the marking out of 20 and give the non ringahs extra marks to start them off. By ep. 4 or 5 allow the marking to be equal. It could work Grin

And make them all do the same dances in each ep.

DarlingNikita · 04/12/2019 15:06

I have always thought they should give two marks out of 10 (or whatever, actually): one for technique and one for entertainment/performance. Then combine them.

Wheresthebeach · 04/12/2019 15:13

OMG Danny Mac and Oti were amazing.

Kelvin isn't a patch on him. Watching that it seems that we've not had many lifts this year (which only helps Anton I would have thought).

Samcro · 04/12/2019 15:15

i would love a 2 K DO just to see Bruno's face. (Karim to go of course.)
I want Chris in the final.
I don't trust the vote last week, so have a small hope still.

NumbersStation · 04/12/2019 15:18

You could be onto something there @DarlingNikita and @ppeatfruit

Both are far better suggestions than mine.

I just don’t think it is right at the moment and something needs to give. I think strictly has lost its way in the last few years and I can’t quite fathom out why.

Beveren · 04/12/2019 15:20

I think it's interesting that Anton has largely been able to avoid dances he won't have fancied.

I think I read somewhere that the pros are all allowed to opt out of one dance - presumably not the same one, otherwise they'd all pick the samba - but maybe longevity means Anton gets first pick.

DarlingNikita · 04/12/2019 15:23

I think strictly has lost its way in the last few years and I can’t quite fathom out why.
I think it's because they're assuming that entertainment means X-Factor-style crowd-pleasing, hyped-up bombast and easy appeals to emotion. Encouraging the crowd to boo any hint of bad comments. The obsession with people getting 10s (I remember when people didn't start getting 9s until the semi-final, and it was a big deal!). Nans and kids and tragic stories all over the shop.
Basically, they're treating us all like the lowest common denominator.

NumbersStation · 04/12/2019 15:30

@Samcro

I didn’t trust the vote last week either but the independent adjudicator said it was so who am I to argue? all complete arse

I think Bruno would be proper flustered at that and could go mute and still. Craig would drawl out his opinion. Motsi would probably be forced into a proper justification for once and drop in a bustle woman yah or thirty and Our Shurl would be hoping the decision was unanimous so that she didn’t get booed and hissed.

Tess would have all Saturday night and Sunday to perfect her patronising sad face (no, wait. Just the two hours or so but she’s a pro so....)

Claude would just grow her fringe a foot longer in the same time frame so that no one would see how she felt.

And yes, OH YES, Karim to go. Even though every fecker and their maw to do with that show are doing everything to keep him in Wink

NumbersStation · 04/12/2019 15:37

I love a bit of shoe horned nan but the rest needs to go unless it is pertinent. Will had a story that needed to be told.

The rest? I don’t care for it.

You are right. It isn’t X factor and should not be portrayed as a bleatfest. Don’t be wheeling out stories now that we are coming to the final.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not without sympathy but I don’t want to see it. It doesn’t belong on strictly. Or X factor come to that.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/12/2019 15:37

I agree with DarlingNikita - everything has become a drama and a sob story - the actual dancing has just fallen by the wayside except as a prop to hang the "NanWarz" etc on.

I'm sick of it - I want it back to how it was and they can start with having the results on a Saturday night again!

NumbersStation · 04/12/2019 15:38

That last bit was in reply to me darlin Grin

lynsey91 · 04/12/2019 15:59

@NumbersStation I am not quite sure how they would know exactly what happened with the voting to be honest.

Quite a few people said they just were not able to vote online. Some said they didn't realise the time to vote had been extended so didn't try again and others said instead of the 3 free online votes they got more, some even saying their voted seemed to be unlimited!

Hopefully there won't be any voting problems this weekend and there will definitely be a correct vote

WineOrGinOrBoth · 04/12/2019 17:35

I sometimes think it’s all become a bit too much like itv Wink

ValancyRedfern · 04/12/2019 17:38

I don't have a problem with ringers (I'd rather watch good dancing than bad) but I do hate the way it's gone all X factory. I think I'm right in saying the new exec producer used to produce the X factor?

ValancyRedfern · 04/12/2019 17:41

I was watching a load of videos of Georgia and Giovanni and getting quite sad. Their Viennese waltz American smooth was gorgeous and had so much proper dancing in it. Entertainment and dance content shouldn't be either/or, I'd much rather watch a proper foxtrot than Chris leaping about like he's in a school production of Oliver before throwing in about 2 foxtrot steps.

Wheresthebeach · 04/12/2019 17:42

If you're right Valancy that would explain a lot...

kazzaD66 · 04/12/2019 17:47

I did my usual fast forwarding through most of AJ last night but even then, I noticed he was like a petulant 4 year old.

Despite that numbers I'm not sure it will be necessary for Gio to hump AJ in the challenge Grin
Above and beyond.....or were you missing a 't' ?WinkSmile

ValancyRedfern · 04/12/2019 18:29

Yep where's the beach she's worked on Big Brother, The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. She has been on Strictly for two years as series producer.

NumbersStation · 04/12/2019 18:52

Big bro, X factor and bgt?

Ooh love the Irish in ye Al 🥰

NumbersStation · 04/12/2019 18:53
