Panic thread!

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 25/11/2019 11:44

Karim made no secret of his stage schooling i also prefer that to them who hide it they know who they are

UrsulaPandress · 25/11/2019 11:54

Ahem. Unless they’ve moved, Kelvin’s family was from Oldham which is in Lancashire.

AppleKatie · 25/11/2019 11:57

Ah that’s fair game for taking the piss then, fair enough lad.

Wink
LittleAndOften · 25/11/2019 12:13

@Mrsjayy I agree. Logistically it must all be organised way in advance. The music arrangements by themselves must take a good wodge of time to score and rehearse, and any specialist choreographers are going to need booking. I imagine it's all pretty well organised by the time the show starts.

Shangrilalala · 25/11/2019 12:20

Have they ditched the Cha cha cha this year? I recall many struggled with it last year; it was almost as notorious as the samba. Don’t remember seeing it, although that could be more to do with excessive wine slurping. Shame if proper Latin goes in favour of Couples Choice, which I rarely rave over. Disclaimer - I know nothing.

UrsulaPandress · 25/11/2019 12:22

Didn’t they used to do two dances each by this stage? And as that chap had to leave early shouldn’t there be a week where no one leaves?

JumpyLiz · 25/11/2019 12:24

I don't even know why I said Yorkshire, he's quite clearly from Lancs. Must have been thinking Emmerdale Blush

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/11/2019 12:28

There have been a couple of modern dance comps, "The Greatest Dancer" being the latest.

I really don't get it as a genre. It involves lost of running from one side of the stage to the other, jumps with airborne splits, rolling around, desperate reaching with clutching hands, and much frantic windmilling of arms, none of which is executed with any grace.

When I was a gel, it was called "acro" and it was pretty much the same then.

I did tap and ballet. Was shit at bothGrin

Mrsjayy · 25/11/2019 12:34

There has been a couple of Cha x3 Johannes and Katherine definately did 1. They are doing a 3 person final instead of 4 or 2 instead of 3 i cant quite remember what they said when Will withdrew.

NumbersStation · 25/11/2019 12:49

Late to the party. Work is the stuff that gets in the way of my viewing pleasure.

I wasn’t surprised at the result (although Emmaeyes was lucky - eye got a ten eye got a ten eye got a ten eye got a ten - it is all about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)
I feel nowt when Karim and Saff dance. For an emosh dance I felt nowt until he cuddled his mam.

I felt joy at Kelvin’s - it wasn’t my cup of tea but I felt JOY. I felt joy for Chris and the frankly beautiful Karen - he put his little dick dastardly chin on and gave it rootytoot and despite the nature of it I still felt joy. Not so much with Alex but you get caught up in with her and Nelly.

Saff’s Dad doing the grippy cheeked glares when she got her feedback. And I feel for her because I think AJ is of the same steely ilk. For a lass with no dancing feels she has done really well - and would have excelled if she’d have made folk feel something.

I think Karim is the same. And I think that will be his downfall. And Amy. I’m not feeling her either. The determination is not oozing out of every pore but pishing out. It isn’t appealing. There was pure rage shining out this week when they had to dance off.

This might well be about technique but for me, dance should make you feel something. Art of any form should make you feel something.

My final 3 would be Chris, Alex and Kelvin for that reason.

And wee Ellie was just wonderful. Beautiful lines. Beautiful. And Oti. (Got moist eyed)

Oh! For that amount of bendiness. I can barely hoist my kneeling self off the floor. The shame of it.

MaggieFS · 25/11/2019 12:51

I think it's a three person final now instead of four.

I don't mind ringers per se, because I enjoy watching good dancing but I do prefer to know if they are ringers. I really enjoyed watching Danny Mac, for example. I just don't think Karim's that good, certainly not consistently, and with the added negative in my eyes of the gushiness, I'm not a fan. But each to there own - I enjoy the debates on here!

Mrsjayy · 25/11/2019 12:55

😂 indeed

Mrsjayy · 25/11/2019 12:57

Karim is a busy lad he is too eager scared of Amy to enjoy himself I think he is finding it really stressful.

ppeatfruit · 25/11/2019 13:01

Imaginary I totes agree with you about the 'acro' movement (I don't classify it as dance). Despite the name of the rubbish programme which was called The Greatest Dancer. IMO it should 've been called the Greatest Hysteric Grin.

Wheresthebeach · 25/11/2019 13:03

Not loving couples choice either. I think they were hoping to show couples creative side but its all gone a bit showy offy/wishy washy instead.

I think Chris will win, if he's in the DO with Alex or Emma I think the judges will save him. I loved his Paso but even Craig overscored it.

SoupDragon · 25/11/2019 13:06

I don't mind watching the Ringers dance, I just don't want them to win :)

Mrsjayy · 25/11/2019 13:08

Yeah I think Chris could win think I would be ok with that Karen has been fantastic this year I really have liked her must be the new hairSmile

NumbersStation · 25/11/2019 13:10

I’d love Chris to win. But I’d be fine with Kelvin or Alex.

And batten down the hatches because Greatest Dancer and Biffa will be back to your screens very soon. And if I’m not mistaken Oti will win again because Biffa is no longer the sweetheart of the nation. She wasn’t well thought of by me in the first place.

Mrsjayy · 25/11/2019 13:14

I hated TGD last one episode.

ppeatfruit · 25/11/2019 13:18

It maybe on my screen Numbers but I won't be watching ! It was a pile of poo IMO. Grin Aiming right at the youth. The beeb ought to think a little less about the yoof and more about the majority of people who are not effin' young. Angry]

NumbersStation · 25/11/2019 13:31

I ain’t no yoof. I am yoof plus 35+

I shan’t be watching either unless I feel the need to bitch about something, anything that day @ppeatfruit

It will probably be about Biffa. I can’t help myself. If Amy wants to see a steely determination of rage pishing out of every pore then she should watch me. For when it comes to rubbish telly and Biffa being foisted on my Saturday neet, she will be cowed. For her pores will clamp tight and she will bask in my steely determinedness to tell Biffa how I feel. It has ever been thus.

NumbersStation · 25/11/2019 13:32

My bitching is an outlet on here.

I’m told I’m passable as a human in real life Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/11/2019 13:35

I’m told I’m passable as a human in real life

I expect that could be said of most of us here. Little do they know....Grin

DarlingNikita · 25/11/2019 13:35

I don't think anyone has survived a dance off and gone on to win have they? Alesha Dixon, as well as the others mentioned.

I didn't really like any of them this week but would choose Alex as my favourite; she's a non-dancer and got a hard dance and had clearly worked very hard at it.

Chris is shit and had no shaping or artistry. And I'm tired of his laddish 'comedy' style and the disingenuousness: 'Ooh, it's really weird having to pretend I'm angry at Karen'. Is he so thick he doesn't understand the concept of taking on a character?
Karim's was self-indulgent and too flicky and fast by half. It wasn't at all like Mark Morris dancers, as Bruno tried to claim; they have the emotional impact that Karim is lacking.
Emma is boring now and makes too many mistakes.
Saffron was bound to go home on that samba. It was poor. Her dad looked FURIOUS and I wouldn't like to have been Craig and come across him in the car park after the show Grin
Kelvin was shite. What even was that dance? I love Northern Soul but that wasn't it. Also, the 'joke' played on his dad was so spiteful. I was (am) genuinely shocked about that. It was so sad imagining him thinking Tess would introduce him and him taking time off work and telling his colleagues. I think Claudia had only had a skeleton brief about that part and didn't know the details; she looked genuinely taken aback when he went into it, and I thought her suggesting Kelvin's dad do the Ts and Cs was a genuine attempt at reparation as well as her bid to lighten up the mood again; there were definitely some gasps of horror from the audience, and Emma and Anton shared at least two 'WTF?' looks while he was telling the story.

I think both Neil and Alex are gay.

DarlingNikita · 25/11/2019 13:39

Have they ditched the Cha cha cha this year? No, Saffron did one, Michelle, Catherine, and Kelvin I think? And Dev went out on his (it was the one with them dressed all in red). In fact I think Catherine went out on hers too.
