Panic thread!

OP posts:
ShiningTor · 24/11/2019 21:05

I already liked Alex prior to her being on SCD, she's a great footballer and pundit.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 24/11/2019 21:14

Kitchen
Was thinking same thing. This is my first ever SCD thread and it’s been emosh. Me and my cheap plonk will be completely at a loss on a Saturday night when it’s over.

Elderflower14 · 24/11/2019 21:18

@SunshineCake. Kelvin tricked his dad into thinking he was appearing o' the show!!!

SunshineCake · 24/11/2019 21:21

Thank you Elderflower.

KitchenDancefloor · 24/11/2019 21:42

Bluffin I've been lurking on the strictly threads for a few years but not joined in much. Last year I started a post-SCD thread to round up the post show gossip in the hope that we could keep chatting shite but it fizzled pretty quickly.

It makes the Autumn extra special though, knowing there is a little corner of loveliness on here (pitchforks and verrucas and all!)

KitchenDancefloor · 24/11/2019 21:45

And clink to the cheap plonk bluffin. I'm on a £1.85 bottle of co-op finest. It is a mini bottle though!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 24/11/2019 21:51

I wonder whether Saffron’s tears are more because her parents will be pissed off she’s gone & didn’t want to disappoint them? Just seeing her dads face?

Not feeling the love for Kelvin or Karim tbh. Knew Saffron was toast as soon as Karim was in DO.

Genuine surprise from Alex there, whereas Kelvin & Oti were so fake.

Also Anton? Not nice. At all.

UrsulaPandress · 24/11/2019 21:51

I went to school where Kelvin is from. His nan looks just like she should coming from D’kr.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/11/2019 21:54

I remember that Kitchen. I think it's just because Strictly finishes and then it's the madness of Christmas and we're all busy doing things in RL!

I thought the lady's legs were meant to be feeling around for the man's wallet in the AT. Was Len lying to me for all those years? Shock

I'm not entirely surprised Karim was in the dance off. Quite a lot of people still watch for the pretty dresses and music they know, and actual ballroom/Latin. His was a bit lacking in all three...

Those half sock things are called foot thongs.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 24/11/2019 21:56

So is Karim a ringer or not? He mentioned drama school during his sob story piece, but nothing about dancing

This from the Manchester Evening News:

"Karim is no stranger to the dance floor, working on BBC Young Dancer where he was also a presenter.

His career began as a child actor in the West End where he was cast in musicals including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Lion King."

Apparently, he played Simba in The Lion King.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 24/11/2019 21:58

Kitchen Wine
Ah, that’s a shame.

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 24/11/2019 22:01

I really like Alex. She was our favourite before the series began and I’m happy she’s still there. She’s a very successful sports woman so I guess there’s a competitive edge to her but I do genuinely think she’s a nice person. Michelle Visage and her were total best mates and I don’t imagine she’s a one for false friends.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2019 22:03

I wonder whether Saffron’s tears are more because her parents will be pissed off she’s gone & didn’t want to disappoint them?

Or, it might be that she's upset. Like every other celebrity who has blubbed on exiting.

KitchenDancefloor · 24/11/2019 22:05

Gosh that sounded needy. I do have friends in real life, honest.

I'm usually last to be turfed out of a party though - hence the 'woo-hoo the night/thread is still young' when I should be in bed/moving on and finding something else to enthuse about on MN.

Samcro · 24/11/2019 22:15

I really want chris , alex in the final, imo they are what strictly is about.
Karim is beyond fake and emma is scary

Agree

LittleAndOften · 24/11/2019 22:29

Just caught up. Not a surprising result, it was a poor samba given the creativity of some of the numbers we've seen.

The contempo girl was the winner of the new BBC dance show that Oti judges and performing on Strictly was part of her prize. That style "acro" is the latest thing in dance, but for me it's just trick after trick with no impact. Big moves should be used for highlights in the music, otherwise what's the point. A lot of acro seems to replace artistry and storytelling with tricks and it loses all of the emotion IMO.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/11/2019 22:33

All do couples choice in the same week? What kind of fresh hell do you think we deserve?!

Think of the advantage to be gained, though. We could get a note from our Mams, or the doctors, asking for us to be excused from dancing that week as we have athlete's foot . . .

. . . and we can't risk also catching a verruca/verucca/verrucca/veruca.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/11/2019 22:38

Last year I started a post-ly.SCD thread to round up the post show gossip in the hope that we could keep chatting shite but it fizzled pretty quickly.

How did I miss that Kitchen? I would have joined.

I'm only here for the apres strictly

DontFearTheReaper · 24/11/2019 22:39

I agree.

MaggieFS · 24/11/2019 22:42

I just presumed that 'acro' stuff was ballet 🤷‍♀️

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/11/2019 22:51

Have a look at "Mini Disco Divas" if it's still available. It's quite popular in Scotland.

Horsemad · 24/11/2019 23:08

Whoever was asking about Katya, she's performing in panto, soon so maybe busy with that.

Chipstick10 · 24/11/2019 23:19

Someone said she’s a great pundit. I disagree . Me and hubby have to mute when she’s on, she makes us cringe.

LittleAndOften · 24/11/2019 23:22

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams that show is about Freestyle dance isn't it? Freestyle gets sniffed at a lot by other forms of dance because it's generally not underpinned by good technique and can be just a lot of hyperactive, bendy, flinging about 😂 Acro seems to be a hybrid of traditional contemporary with Freestyle IMO - technique and tricks combined. It's very common on American shows like So You Think You Can Dance and World of Dance. No such thing when I was dancing in the 90s, it was strictly ballet, tap and modern Grin
