Hello 👋 I kept away in case there had been spoilers! What a shame Michelle is out, but sorry to say it was deserved. So annoyed at that bloody 'dance'. She was better than that and a great personality, but her mission statement thing did irritate me.

Other thoughts on tonight... I really enjoyed the opening dance but Nadia's fringe was tonight's Tess' strap. It needed moving out of the way!

Where did Pondlife spring from? Didn't realise they were still going.

KurriKawari · 17/11/2019 20:12

I think monkseal or someone said Michelle and the BBC were only interested in her strictly journey whilst drag race UK was on and it was great to plug it, but now the show is ending/has ended, neither her not the bbc are bothered with her going on. I think a Karim win would be great for bbc as he's already working for them and a Chris win would probably see him getting a tv/radio slot with bbc. Presenting a comedy show or a radio show similar to his podcast?

I was indifferent to Michelle but really really think Giovanni is due a win. Love him. Also Oti and Karen deserve a win soon.

KurriKawari · 17/11/2019 20:14

I wonder though when karen found out she was paired with chris she thought "oh great the comedy duffer" and yet he's gone further than even i think he imagined without doing "crab dance" or "gangnam style".

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 17/11/2019 20:14

Ha!

Ooh yes let's hear some Strictly after-party gossip. Maybe some will show up in this week's Popbitch.

I'm sad the strap didn't make a reappearance on the other arm in the results show.

Yes! I reckon if Visage had donned a sleek suit and done a crisp, strutting Vogue with lots of content and snappy backing dancers it could've been someone else in the DO with Saffron.

Interesting to hear about Saffy's stage dad!

KurriKawari · 17/11/2019 20:17

Yes wish they'd given Giovanni some artistic licence to give "vogue" a fresh twist. Not sure even he enjoyed it.

So much for michelle saying she invented voguing before madonna did it.

chocolateisavegetable · 17/11/2019 20:17

kurri quite possible - the Drag Race final is this Thursday, so before the next episode of Strictly

Encyclo · 17/11/2019 20:18

She's put up a long Insta Post and it was clear she felt she was representing her community and it meant a lot to her.

I bet she's kicking herself though. She probably could've beaten Saffron in a DO with any other dance.

digerd · 17/11/2019 20:19

Agree with a pp about Saffron tonight that her shoulders need to be down more as makes her neck shorter and spoils her ballroom posture.

She did put her heart and sole in that DO, though.

Pleased that Alex and Emma are through.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 17/11/2019 20:19

I also wonder if the producers foisted that theme on Michelle and Gio. Michelle loved it but the content was lacking and the costumes impeded them. Not sure Gio was responsible for that choreo.

digerd · 17/11/2019 20:20

soul

CassandraCross · 17/11/2019 20:21

I too am getting a bit sick of the people just didn't get her dance trope melj1213, frankly it came across as an exercise in vanity and ego by Michelle.

Strange that in the VT beforehand Michelle was waxing lyrical about being accepted for who she was exactly as she was, none of this not thin enough, not pretty enough and then she went on to have masses of work done to change herselfConfused.

I liked Michelle but that dance was crap, perhaps if she had gone for the Madonna version it would have been better, there was dancing in that version.

Mrsjayy · 17/11/2019 20:23

Ah I am sad they have goneSad

KurriKawari · 17/11/2019 20:25

I'm sure it meant a lot to her but honestly Alex did a dance that meant a lot to her, had a great message etc, and yet she executed it brilliantly, and clever choreography from Neil.

2Rebecca · 17/11/2019 20:25

I didnt get why walking around in a wig was a statement either but then I didn't understand which dance they were doing. I think I heard the name but I can't remember it and it didn't mean anything.

AppleKatie · 17/11/2019 20:27

I agree Michelle’s dance was totally self indulgent and strictly wasn’t the right place for it.

Gio looked frankly relieved at the end and like he was coming out of a nightmare!

I did like her over the series more than I expected to but she was clearly allowed more artistic control than she should have been and she’s paid the price for it.

Encyclo · 17/11/2019 20:28

I was so looking forward to their dance before they stepped out onto the dance floor last night.

It quickly became clear she was in big trouble. I'll really miss her and Gio. She's one of the only ones that stood out this year for me. Don't know who to root for now.

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 20:28

Not sure Gio was responsible for that choreo.

No, it wasn't Gio. It was an outside choreographer.

Elderflower14 · 17/11/2019 20:28

@ThursdayLastWeek...Ah...
I thought she was Classic FM..

Snugglepiggy · 17/11/2019 20:30

Was it me missing something but where were Saffron and AJ when Michelle and Gio had the group hug from all the others ?Usually the couple saved in the dance off are first on the floor to say goodbye to the exiting couple.I know it's a bit harsh, and she is very young and it seems went to pieces after the tension of the DO but I thought that was a bit off.But then for some reason, competent as she is,Saffron hasn't really won me over this series.Michelle is an amazing woman and I'm sad to see her go, but her time was up and that routine was not a great choice.

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/11/2019 20:30

I think it's a bit unfair everyone piling on that it was an exercise in Michelle's vanity etc..
we have no idea how much say she had in it all past perhaps 'I'd love to have vogue as the song for couples choice'. Everything else might have been decided by producers etc..

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 17/11/2019 20:31

Would be interested to know what a lip reader could tell us about the comment Saffron’s dad made to her mum after her DO.... reckon he said something like “that should do it” but mum had a right face on her, like she was sucking a lemon.

NumbersStation · 17/11/2019 20:33

They did walk towards her but Miche am Joe were swamped by everyone else pretty quickly.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 17/11/2019 20:36

I just like to see an 'older' (I know, soz) woman do well in a totally non patronising way.

If you mean on merit, I agree. But so often Michelle was getting fawned over by the judges for her Message. She was actually a good dancer but the vogue critique showed that the judges were far too influenced by her LGBT community credentials to be able to judge her fairly.

The dance community is already very accepting, she didn't need to bring her message here. Maybe she could try Top Gear next time. Plenty of scope for challenging stereotypes there.

2Rebecca · 17/11/2019 20:37

I didnt know much about Michelle Visage and wondered if "my community"!was the LGBT community and she was a lesbian. She is married to a man with 2 children. OK she is a drag comp judge but in what way is she LGBT? Is she another nonbinary hetero woman?

NumbersStation · 17/11/2019 20:41

I think he said the ‘best’ @Bluffinwithmymuffin
