It's not quite time to don your woolly jumpers or stoke up your log fires for the winter - still some tennis to be played this season!

An exciting, mathematically challenging WTFs continues, new Davis Cup soon, etc...

I'm always a bitHmm about the ATP awards. I know it is supposed to be voted by the fans or whatever, but the ATP seems so very biased towards Federer in everything(remember all the ludicrous mocked up posters proclaiming him to be the second coming of Clay in the summer Grin) that it always seems fixed.

What will they do when he retires? Grin

Talking of bias- I saw the final nominee list for SPOTY the other day- seems shorter than usual. I did wonder if they deliberately waited until the Davis Cup was over to announce the nominees , just in case, by some fluke , we won - and they could nominate Murray again ? Grin. (Wouldn't put anything past Andrew Castle the Beeb).

Raahh · 27/11/2019 22:04

Private is that the one with the real life Nutcracker??

They are all merging into oneGrin

And Melissa Joan Hart is appearing in my dream , I swear Grin.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 22:07

kazza it's true. I would have a baby tomorrow (now that would be a Christmas miracle) rather than have Keith or Kevin cause me any more issues, they really are that painful.

And annoyinly, gas and air are not offered.

Yet my dad, who gets them too, is routinely offered morphine.

Hmm.

Fizzywinegum · 27/11/2019 22:14

Surely Andy Murray should be nominated for SPOTY for his Antwerp win Grin.

Every year I try to be more relaxed about Christmas but it never really works - maybe I need to watch more Christmas films Smile. They usually give me the rage though so maybe not a good idea!

Rafa seems to be more bothered about winning awards these days - it’s quite sweet really - he did once get an overseas sportsperson award at SPOTY - he has had a good year this year.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 22:17

Fizzy I was absolutely expecting them to nominate him for 'team of the year' with Feli in doubles or something at Queen's. Grin

I know it's not his fault the Beeb are so biased towards him, it just makes me laugh. He probably hates it too.

JaneJeffer · 27/11/2019 22:19

Grin Fizzy I'm laughing at you raging at Christmas films

I think Christmas is easier now the boys are older and I can say tell me what you want quickly or you're not getting anything! Ordering online makes things easier as well. I can't handle real life shopping any more except for food and that's only because we need to eat.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 22:21

I am currently watching a Christmas film on Chrismas 24 (Christmas at Holly Lodge.)

I've lost count of how many times I've seen it in the last couple of years. Grin.

I save 'proper' films (White Christmas /Elf / It's a Wonderful Life etc ) for nearer Christmas. I have seen Arthur Christmas, 3 times already. I love it.

What can I say? I've had a rubbish year, I get my kicks from watching Christmas films Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 27/11/2019 22:23

Yes Raahh I can imagine Sue and AC trying to work out how they can shoehorn Andy Murray into getting an award - maybe they’ll invent one for him!

I still remember when he won his first SPOTY award and he apologised for having such a boring voice but that was just how his voice was Grin. I agree I’m sure he doesn’t really like all the fuss.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 22:24

we need to eat

that's true .

I have the same 'christmas food' shopping list on phone that has been there for the last 8 years. It never changes. Grin.

And last year we went to my sister's, so I didn't even need it Grin.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 22:27

They can give Andy the inaugaral 'HIP' award.

(make up something that it means on the night)

Grin

Fizzywinegum · 27/11/2019 22:48

I do like Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life - I’ve not seen White Christmas - might give that a go.

I think it’s mainly Love Actually that gives me the rage but we’ve discussed this already Grin The new Last Christmas film looks pretty rage inducing as well - maybe I should watch The Grinch Grin

JaneJeffer · 27/11/2019 23:05

I really like Emilia Clarke but on the MN Film topic Last Christmas has very mixed reviews. It's obviously a marmite film.

PrivateSpidey · 27/11/2019 23:44

Last Christmas has had really crap reviews hasn't it (but it's probably still good Grin)

I really want to see Knives Out - Chris Evans in knitwear? Go on then Grin

Fizzy to obtain Christmas cheer, all you need to do is move to a small town in America (NB must be festively named, Evergreen, Snow Falls or similar) and the true meaning of Christmas will be revealed! Or something like that anyway Grin

Btw I love the idea of Andy and Feli getting the team of the year award Grin

To be fair, Lopez has had a pretty decent year - he's almost won as many titles as a certain other 38 year old...

Fizzywinegum · 28/11/2019 07:55

Private I think that’s the type of film that gives me the rage Grin

I do like Christmas really - it’s just the crowds and general busyness that I’m not keen on.

Think I will be avoiding Last Christmas though Grin

PrivateSpidey · 28/11/2019 09:14

Grin probably a wise choice Fizzy. I think my sister is quite keen to see it so I will probably end up going.

Medvedev has just tweeted about the most improved player award this year - surely he's a cert for that? Although to be fair, Berrettini (also in the running) has probably improved more in terms of his ranking - but Medvedev probably deserves it for his results.

There are a lot of tennis players in the Maldives photos on Instagram at the mo. Apart from Delpo, who seems to be in a supermarket in Florida Grin

Raahh · 28/11/2019 09:49

Now, I like all types of rubbish Christmas film, and love Wham! but even I have read the reviews of Last Christmas and though 'wtf?' Grin.

I heard Emilia saying they did actually film it last Christmas, at lot of it late in the evening.

I do love my classics though, although the dc are less keen, and a lot of them are of course very of their time.

Spidey I would have thought Medvedev was a shoo in for most improved- but a lot of players have shot up the rankings this year, it might actually be the year that things start to change (a bit- don't want it to happen just yet Grin).

I like the idea of Delpo shopping in Florida.

Happy Thanksgiving to any Americans out there.

Or- Day before Black Friday, as it is becoming more known Grin.

PrivateSpidey · 29/11/2019 19:22

The Andy Murray prog is released today I think - will try and watch this weekend.

I see Stan has been on the fondue Grin according to his Instagram. Makes a change from all the Maldives pics of the other players Envy

(Btw Knives Out was brill, and the knitwear definitely lived up to expectations Grin)

Has anyone seen on the LTA twitter account the video of the Davis Cup team doing a bit of paso doble? Judy hasn't got too much competition but it was good to see the team having a laugh.

Definitely want to watch Resurfacing this weekend. Have told DH and DS we are watching it together.

Fizzywinegum · 29/11/2019 23:34

I’m going to try and watch Resurfacing this weekend as well.

Glad you enjoyed knives out Spidey - Daniel Craig comes a close second to Rafa for me but not sure what I think about him in this film.

Fizzywinegum · 29/11/2019 23:36

I’ve not seen the dancing kazza but will have a look for it - what is it with tennis players and dancing?

PrivateSpidey · 30/11/2019 08:25

I have just seen the dancing clip Grin Jamie Murray looks so tall in it, I'd never really noticed before. Dan Evans made me laugh as well, trying to hide in his hoodie (we've all been there). Andy was definitely the best.

But none of them have got anything on Djok's running man Grin

Fizzy yes Daniel's accent was a bit distracting in Knives Out but once I got used to it I thought he was great. I loved his suits/braces. And Chris Evans was really rocking those jumpers Bear

Oops not sure where that bear came from Confused - I guess he was a bit teddy bear-esque!
