It's not quite time to don your woolly jumpers or stoke up your log fires for the winter - still some tennis to be played this season!

An exciting, mathematically challenging WTFs continues, new Davis Cup soon, etc...

Right- I'm confused. Did they do qualifiers for this tournament this year? I don't remember!

JaneJeffer · 24/11/2019 21:08

I don't know. It's all a bit confusing!

magimedi · 25/11/2019 23:01

Hope this link works.

Those trophies look like they're made from the type brooches my nana used to wear.

PrivateSpidey · 26/11/2019 09:22

Hi all Tennis

My phone finally gave up the ghost at the weekend so I haven't been able to use MN - and now I'm stuck with an old museum piece phone from the back of the kitchen drawer Hmm until I can sort out a new one. Have managed to log onto the laptop now for time wasting purposes.

Didn't see much tennis on Sunday, sounds like Rafa was brilliant though. What a season eh?? Sounds like they still have a few things to sort out re the new Davis Cup, eg not making someone play 8 matches in a week!! Shock

I like the sombrero picture magi. I also love a good brooch Grin so I'm quite keen on the trophies too!

Hope everyone is well Brew

Hi Private a weekend without checking in on MN sounds terrible Grin

I happened across this cartoon!

Tennis thread: it's almost the off-season, but the tennis chat continues!
Fizzywinegum · 26/11/2019 11:30

That’s funny Jane Grin

I was wondering where you were Spidey - I could do with a few days without my phone - I’m feeling Christmas overwhelm already and it’s not even December Hmm. Just been out and the traffic was horrific - I think I need to chill out!

The Andy Murray documentary on Amazon is called Resurfacing - it always make me shudder a bit when they take about his hip being resurfaced. Kim looked very well at the premiere - I liked her velvet suit.

magimedi · 26/11/2019 11:59

Liked that, Jane

The Guardian has a review of the Murray documentary:

www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/nov/25/andy-murray-dunblane-parents-divorced-documentary

Traffic awful here as well - just been out for a walk along the front - huge seas & was nearly blown over wind so strong. But I do feel better for getting out.

JaneJeffer · 26/11/2019 12:21

They didn't give too much away in that article! I remember him crying his eyes out after the Copil match and it was so hard to watch. I'd absolutely love him to win Wimbledon again.

JaneJeffer · 26/11/2019 12:24

Really windy and rainy here too which means the dog is filthy which means the kitchen floor is filthy. Aargh!

PrivateSpidey · 26/11/2019 12:29

Jane Grin love it.

I'll be looking out for the programme on Andy. I was reading about how it was such a clever title - I was like this Confused it just means hip resurfacing doesn't it? Then I realised oh right so it's like he's resurfacing from his time out of the game! Now I get it Grin

Took me a while.

The Christmas overwhelm is definitely real Fizzy. And as you say it's not even December yet! I always start trying to get ahead and all that happens is the stress spreads out for longer and I eat all the food I've bought "in advance" Grin

We've already polished off the biscuits that were supposed to be for the teachers Hmm

Jane I meant the cartoon not the dog related dirt sorry Grin bit of an x-post.

Andy was talking about it on the Zoe Ball show this morning. He said the documentary filming was longer and more drawn out than originally envisaged because of what happened in RL and if he had known that at the start, he probably wouldn't have done it. In another review, it said he still gets too emotional talking about what happened at Dunblane school, and so wasn't able to talk about that on camera.

I'd like to watch it, I think it will be interesting.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 16:09

Afternoon all!

I'm missing tennis.

But I have an update on Kevin and Keith, the kidney stones, which will amuse you.

I am to go for a lithotripsy treatment. This involves shockwave treatement, and being immersed in water. So, said the woman on the phone, bring a change of pants and a towel. And it will take 2- 4 hours. So I will be sat in a pool of water for 2-4 hours- having shock wave treatment, that is annoying apparently (bring an ipod, is beepy) and will possibly hurt- I might want pethidine- won't be able to drive home.

Sounds like a great way to spend a day, the week before Christmas. Grin.

PrivateSpidey · 27/11/2019 16:40

Oh no Raahh Sad that doesn't sound like fun at all. The iPod sounds a good idea - under the circs - although still not exactly fun.

What they should really do is put a TV in the room and tune it to Christmas 24/Doctors omnibus, just for you. And maybe this year's French Open/US Open highlights as well.

Hope it goes ok, will be thinking of you Flowers

OP posts:
Raahh · 27/11/2019 16:53

The more I read about the treatment, Spidey the more it varies from what I have been told to expect- which bothers me slightly. I am hoping when I get there I will have passed the stones and won't have to have it done at all Grin

magimedi · 27/11/2019 16:58

Raahh - That sounds \a real pain. But, hopefully it will break up Keith & Kevin & you'll feel much better.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 17:09

Fingers crossed, magi! Otherwise, I have another appointment to do it all again in January! (The week before the Aussie open starts - I think! )

JaneJeffer · 27/11/2019 18:53

Oh that's terrible Raahh. Pethidine is pretty useless pain relief as far as I'm concerned. Hope all goes well for you.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 19:01

Jane from memory of giving birth (the first time) the only thing I remember about pethidine is they wouldn't let me sit on the birthing ball after I had it. I had the kitchen sink with number 2. Number 3 was an elcs, that still ended up under a general. I don't react properly to anaesthesia. Hmm.

When I have looked this lithotripsy up on Dr Google, it appears to be something done under a general anaesthetic- so far, all I've been offered is a diclofenac suppository and pethidine Shock.

Raahh · 27/11/2019 19:06

having said all that, the pain of kidney stones has been way worse than giving birrth was, ( no exaggerating, the last incident was nearly 12 hours of spasming hell). so I think this thing will be a doddle Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 27/11/2019 20:57

Oh dear Raahh - hopefully it will all be ok - fingers crossed that Kevin and Keith sort themselves out naturally.

The penny has just dropped about the resurfacing title Spidey - I just thought it referred to Andy’s op - I’m a bit slow!

I agree with you about the Christmas stress just being spread further if you start early - I try to be organised but it just seems to prolong the stress but I’m sure if I left it all til the week before Christmas I’d be even more stressed Hmm

PrivateSpidey · 27/11/2019 21:48

Fizzy I know, we just can't win. Might as well just not worry about it. (Unlikely though!)

Raahh blimey, I hope it all goes ok. Kevin and Keith sound like total PITAs.

On a slightly tennis related note, I see Rafa is keen to win the atp sportsmanship award Grin He tweeted about it and Tsitsipas replied or will it be Roger for the 600 and something time?!

Rafa won it last year didn't he? Although Fed has won it about a million times.

Hmm

PrivateSpidey · 27/11/2019 21:57

PS Raahh I watched A Very Nutty Christmas the other day. Even by Christmas TV film standards, it was totally ridiculous (in a good way, obviously) Grin

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 27/11/2019 21:59

Oh Raahh hope all goes well for you.
If Kevin and Keith had any decency, they would bugger off tout suite before your appointment. My next door neighbour has had five children and kidney stones, and she says the latter was far worse than the five births combined ConfusedShockFlowers
