It's not quite time to don your woolly jumpers or stoke up your log fires for the winter - still some tennis to be played this season!

An exciting, mathematically challenging WTFs continues, new Davis Cup soon, etc...

They've switched to Spain v Russia now - aka Rublev vs Busta Gut.

It all looks a bit odd tbh.

I was going to try and watch the Davis cup, but I don't get the set up really. You would expect some kind of seeding system - yet Spain are in the same group as Croatia (last year's winners) and Russia. GB (who got a wc when other countries -such as Switzerland- did not) are in a group with the Netherlands and Kazakhstan..

I don't mind it being unbalanced if it favours GB. I can be very patriotic at times

You may have already seen it but the LTA has posted a couple of videos - one looking back at the Murray brothers involvement in the Davis Cup and the other is a DC quiz for the squad.

See, I'm not patriotic when it comes to tennis, I like players regardless of where they are from.

So, I don't like the GB bias. And Fed's alledged spat with Pique is why the Swiss are not there.

Btw, speaking as we were of inbalances, Canada are already through, having played all their matches, so now have two days off ahead of the quarter finals. Seems a bit unfair, when GB hadn't even played a match

Yes kazza I agree - it's all a bit odd. There's going to need to be some rule changes I reckon.

Canada forfeited their doubles match (they were already through after the singles) so it was given to USA as a 6-0 6-0 win, but USA still have a chance to qualify from that group as do Italy!! So I wonder what Italy had to say about that?! As it puts them at a massive disadvantage.

I wasn't planning to watch or get involved in this and yet I've been sucked in....

I haven’t seen any of the Davis Cup matches - it does all sound a bit confusing ( .com ) - I would be quite interested in seeing the topless Rafa picture though!

Hope you are still enjoying The Crown Private - the Aberfan one is a very hard watch. I managed to get up to episode 5 and looking forward to watching the rest soon (when I’ve got another spare 5 hours!)

Fizzy yes the Aberfan episode had just started last night when DH arrived home - so I decided to watch it another time and not right before bed as it would be a bit nightmare inducing I remember the 50th anniversary stuff not long ago - it's just totally unthinkable that it could happen really.

I've not really watched much tennis today - saw a bit of Murray's match and a bit of your pal Dan Evans playing as well kazza - he wasn't wearing his chef/dentist uniform though!

I didn't see if he won but I was into a third set. I might watch a bit more over the weekend if possible. It feels a bit weird it being right on the heels of the WTFs, not sure I can totally get into it.

I haven't seen any tennis because I'm trying to do some decluttering and don't want to get distracted!

PS Fizzy (sorry to go on about The Crown everyone) I was reading a thread on here earlier about The Crown and quite a few posters were saying they'd not heard of Aberfan. We used to go to Wales a lot when I was younger and I'd always sort of been aware that it happened, just so awful. I can't believe it's not more widely known of.

Anyway. Sorry to derail .
