I thought Mike would go? She didn't put a foot wrong.

Matt Dawson was up against Ramps. Can't remember who was up against Aleesha. Was it Matt d'Angelo?

Craig on The One Show right now wearing an interesting jacket.

That sounds right

Emma W is so upset to be gone. Rylan said she was really emotional just before the show this evening.

Then she cried again on the show. She's lovely and I think a wee bit smitten with Aliaz

Obviously anyone with taste would be Wink but I imagine it must have been a real contrast to spend so much time in the company of someone genuinely lovely and supportive, because rightly or wrongly I imagine Emma being surrounded by typical stiff upper lip types (and her in-laws are awful racists) so it would be very easy for her to develop a crush in the intensity of the training room - as we’ve seen with various iterations of the Strictly curse over the years!

Excellent points, and I can only imagine how stifling life must be in that stonking great pile of bricks, dealing with that burden and those weird and racist inlaws. Moving from that to the sheer joy and freedom of
Strictly, plus getting paired up with the loveliest man in the World. (Fact).

Yeah I'd be crying too

WineOrGinOrBoth · 04/11/2019 19:32

I would love to have Erin as a judge! I always liked flavia

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 04/11/2019 19:32

Emma B needs to get some advice from Alex about how to put her pro out for a few weeks

Speaking of all time faves, this was mine:

shows not only fab dancing Medievalist but a totally superior standard of sets and costumes.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/11/2019 20:14

They ought to re-run every series of Strictly from day one in a special box set on iplayer then once a year when we’re in Strictly mode we could relive our faves.

I bet we'd be so disappointed with the early shows, it would look very amateurish. My memory says there used to be tables around the edge, like a Masonic dinner dance, but that can't be right, can it?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/11/2019 20:16

Also in the early shows Craig was properly nasty. No quarter was given. I think it was definitely a strategy to get him noticed and fair play, he played the long game and built himself a love/hate following, and now everybody loves him.

kazzaD66 · 04/11/2019 20:20

On ITT tonight, Rylan said the 34 for Oti and Kelvin's VW was Oti's highest VW score. So what did she get with Danny Mac? Was it an earlier dance that didn't score as well?

veryboredtoday · 04/11/2019 20:22

I thought they were right to keep Mike in this week. It was the better of the two dances. However, he wont last long.

100PercentThatBitch · 04/11/2019 20:24

You aren't wrong about Dinner Tables @Myimaginarycathasfleas

That's how it was in Series 1

Series 1 was meant as a one off for Sport Relief that took hold.

I agree about boxset though, there were so many more genuine non dancers and unintentional comedy as a result

People fell over

Fi Phillips had to be carried

Etc

jillandhersprite · 04/11/2019 20:30

love love love that danny and oti samba - thankyou for posting it!

I wouldn’t be at all surprised Grin I started watching from the Christmas special after series 2, so series 3 was my first full series; been hooked ever since. The standard has definitely crept up overall, although this year seems weaker than some previous years I think. Also, there’s a bit of a low budget feel, especially re the costumes, some of which have been dire. Even the pinky-blue and mauve set is hideous.

kazzaD66 · 04/11/2019 20:42

To answer my own question, according to Wikipedia, Danny and Oti danced the VW in week 2, scoring 32 points (4 8s).

Encyclo · 04/11/2019 21:13

My first ever glimpse of Strictly was the series 1 final, then I think I found it properly when Darren Gough won it.

I think there WAS tables around the edges.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/11/2019 21:44

I think in the very early series the pros would sometimes wear their own dresses.

Then DSI did it for ages, and now I'm not entirely sure. Possibly DSI with a budget cut?!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/11/2019 21:44

The clothes are more like costumes than "proper" competitive dress now.

user1471530109 · 04/11/2019 21:56

I think it is DSI. But I agree they haven't been quite as spectacular recently.

I've book tickets for the tour. Do we know who has confirmed? Cost an arm and a leg for 3 tickets for me and my girls and we will be gutted if Kelvin isn't in it!

i still have flash backs to that samba week 1

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 05/11/2019 00:07

monkseal.wordpress.com/2019/11/04/strictly-come-dancing-17-week-7-performance/

Do we know when judges' mentoring dancing will be? Semis maybe?
If there's 3 in the final now.
Will be interesting who gets who.
Craig with Michelle and Gio.
Motsi with her sister and Kelvin unless cries of unfair ring out.
Shirley with Saffron and AJ or Chris and Karen?
Bruno with Karim and Amy? Or Kelvin if Motsi has to swap.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 05/11/2019 09:20

Ahhhhh Danny Macs samba was absolutely brilliant. I never tire watching it. I’d love to revisit the old series, I don’t think I watched the very first one.
