New thread for 2nd Nov show Glitterball

OP posts:
RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 21:54

The only real rage here is towards people who post spoilers

Indeed. Plus me, I am the real rage Wink although also answer to Vending Machine.
@GrouchyKiwi how does he say orangutan?
All of you saying Dave I now have Papa Lazarou in my head.
Cannot fancy DaveArch personally as he reminds me of Paul Merton.
Trev the hat though...Grin
I did laugh out loud when Tess said to The Viscountess ''We're going to miss your lovely smile'' as Emma had a face like thunder/resting bitchy face and was not going to crack a smile.
Mike's timing improved but I assume he messed the lift rather than Katya so it could have been anybody's. I doubt that Emma would have made it to Blackpool unless Aljaz had pulled out a nice waltz next week.
Am torn - quite like it when they don't pretend they're not gutted - but at the same time, you know, Dev went out early and Will got injured so suck it up, you didn't need the extra Blackpool dosh.
Emma B's wig was too Carol Vorderman and the eyeshadow didn't help her. Hope she does a decent dance next week and shows them all. Mike to go next week would seem about right and Chris to go at Blackpool.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 21:59

Dianne was Head Witch last week's result Pro dance iirc.
Tonight's Elton John medley just annoyed me...Use Rocketman for either Movie Week Or Musicals Week (as that is the plan apparently, it will be transferred to the stage) but don't randomly use it willy-nilly. I notice they do that a lot...prepare routines, group and individual, that could have fitted into theme weeks ordinarily.
I used to think maybe a couple just nicked someone else's song once eliminated but it happens with pro routines too.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:04

The pros travel a lot don't they? Wasn't Kevin having to go up to Scotland a lot for Susan? and there was a bot of a hoo ha when Karen travelled a few hours to see Will and then he couldn't train (caveat: He was suffering with mental health at the time).
Nadiya's hair annoyed me in the Pro dance tonight - same as Saffron's has a couple of times. They both need Firm hold hairspray or extra grips.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:06

bit not bot Grin
I saw the ballroom at Blackpool this week. It was so lovely with the big Wurlitzer and lots of people doing cha cha arms (cannot remember the name for it) at the same time.

SoupDragon · 03/11/2019 22:08

Dev went out early and Will got injured so suck it up

And weren't both of those really emotional about it??

SoupDragon · 03/11/2019 22:10

I liked the Emeli Sandé dance but DD wanted to know why the other couple weren't both women. Which I suppose is a fair point.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:15

They were sad sure Dragon as you would be but not petulant and tbf, both would have had more reasons to feel aggrieved than EmmaW. who came across as a bit sulky tonight. Maybe just her face.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:19
I liked the dancing in this and it reminded me of Karen in the Strictly pre season trailer. Enjoy Wine
NumbersStation · 03/11/2019 22:22

Ach.

That is all.

Somebody had better lift my mood with a gimp mask and a sparkly thong....

MargotLovedTom1 · 03/11/2019 22:22

Emma W has the best thunderous expression I've ever seen - fabulous contrast to her usual simpering and smiling Grin.

I wonder if there might be a Hollins Shock Victory v.2 where Chris Ramsey win the glitter ball through sheer popularity, beating the hot favourite and better dancer Kelvin/Karim.

NumbersStation · 03/11/2019 22:22

NOT you Anton...

derxa · 03/11/2019 22:33

Emma W has the best thunderous expression I've ever seen - fabulous contrast to her usual simpering and smiling Hats off to her I say Grin
She doesn't give a fuck. She's not a 'celebrity'.

ChoccyJules · 03/11/2019 22:37

So did we answer the question of who that bearded dancer in the Elton pro dance was?

SoupDragon · 03/11/2019 22:38

Petulant? Sulky? All I saw was gutted.

LittleAndOften · 03/11/2019 22:44

Just caught up. Have to say I'm not surprised at the bottom 2, Emma was never going to have the fan base to compete for that many weeks. I would have saved her though, I really disliked Mike's charleston, he was so unconvincing, didn't seem to know what he was doing, never fully executed the moves and mucked up the lift. One of the worst charlestons I've seen on Strictly. He's not getting the votes either so his days must be numbered.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:45

Oh and for whoever it was who mentioned Mr Gleb

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:53

Well we all see things differently Dragon as this thread testifies to. I didn't dislike Emma per se, I was pretty neutral to her and her dancing, except for the dips at the end of her jive. Liked her Charleston too. But anyone at elimination saying they're never going to get over it sounds, well, at worst petulant I guess, at best over dramatic. I don't want to use the word entitled as her being a viscountess never bothered me but you've had more gracious eliminations under more unfair circumstances is all I'm saying. I think she had a good run.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 03/11/2019 22:57

Saffron had a lift over AJ’s head to sit on his shoulders. If she’d been wearing sequinned knickers wouldn’t she have taken out a load of hair on her dismount? Like threading but with sequins.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 22:59

Ouch, maybe. AJ might have got stuck Grin Wink

Theromanempire · 03/11/2019 22:59

rage I'm with you, think she sounded a bit over dramatic! Besides, lets be honest, she should have gone 3 weeks ago instead of Dev so she had a good run Hmm

derxa · 03/11/2019 23:07

He's not getting the votes either so his days must be numbered. I think he wants to go. I'm sure he's a lovely person but he's not a dancer.
He'll never match up to the lovely Ed Balls.

Theromanempire · 03/11/2019 23:12

I've just thought (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but wasn't the dance off originally introduced to stop a 'John Sergeant' situation and allow the judges an opportunity to get rid of the poor dancers (once they landed in the dance off) yet here we are - 3 chances to vote Mike off and 3 decisions not to HmmHmm

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 23:14

Yes, as I said, I'm divided...as the sleb twaddler in me quite likes it when they don't all follow the Big Happy Family schtick (Fiona Fullerton et al) Wink but I always like to think I'd go the Letitia Dean route (completely gracious, was up against Alesha and said she'd have chosen her too. No hint of disappointment or being gutted even though was so close to the semis and Matt had got through on the public vote despite sitting down Grin) I didn't see an unfair shock boot elimination tonight worthy of death threats, I saw someone go on a bad samba. Same as Cath and Dev on their bad chachas. But Cath took it on the chin.
But at the same time, I can imagine you'd be devastated if you're going back to mucking out giraffes tomorrow

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 23:21

It was roman as the GBP couldn't be trusted not to keep the Underdog/Comedy Contestant week after week (I would love to see the voting just to see if Susan Calman and Ed Balls weren't last the weeks they went).
It's a difficult one. This week DWTS lost Karamo and Sean Spicer is being kept in by the Public Vote. Bobby Bones won the final last year.
But if you are saying the DO is based solely on the dance itself rather than potential or dance across the series then you run the risk of keeping someone who is comparatively crap or you do a Peter Andre.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/11/2019 23:31

I always like to think I'd go the Letitia Dean route
But the devil in me thinks Jan Ravens, why not? Grin
