.. the other thread have people on it that haven't binged watched it and don't want spoilers.
I thought I would start a spoiler thread for those of us that have seen it all.

I loved it all ; the sports day and Mrs Lamb on her loud hailer was very funny. Lots of film references too ; Notting Hill in the Lee mead episode and Shallow grave when they go on holiday.
Liz's ex is also hot ; shame his not a nicer character!

Kevin to the children on Halloween 'think like a paedofile'.

loooosir · 10/10/2019 22:08

I'm off to shag a shepherd.

Awrite · 10/10/2019 22:08

The never present cycling Dad is definitely from MN.

Awrite · 10/10/2019 22:09

I only trust fruit from the big three.

Bluewavescrashing · 10/10/2019 22:10

The writers must be MNers.

No poo crumbs though.

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 06:20

Julia's rant about the baby boomer generation was very mumsnet.

I love how horrible they all are , then suddenly liz will help out Kev with the tea towels and my faith is restored!
Everyone knows an Amanda: I work with / know with a few.

Everyone knows an Amanda: I work with / know with a few.

I know one or two school-gate acquaintances who would are like Amanda (in their own heads).

NumberblockNo1 · 11/10/2019 08:53

Liz when she said she missed her child Sad.

Kevin and all the pictures of children.. for personal use...Grin

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 09:08

That place where Kev works is a bit weird! What is it meant to be?
Julia's obsession with Lee Mead was funny.
Sports day was my favourite though. Why do loud hailers always sound like that?
I knew they would go on holiday, they always do in sit coms! Liz is such a man magnet and funny too.

Very downbeat ending though, with Julia's mother collapsing.

I liked it enough to keep watching, but I didn't find myself laughing very much, in all honesty.

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 09:49

There were a few laugh out loud moments I thought ; the parcel delivery thing hit a nerve as my dh has numerous hobbies and I'm forever signing for things and on first name terms with the Hermes lady and the postman!

The bit where Amanda's husband came to collect the kids and she was getting ready for him was so sad.

BarkandCheese · 11/10/2019 09:57

Amanda’ Shop, sorry store, was very familiar, lots of those in my town. They last on average eighteen months, and they’re always based on what is the latest middle class thing, ten years ago it would have been shabby chic but now it’s Scandi style. Hygge Tygge was spot on.

The Halloween episode reminded me I need to change the batteries in my spooky doorbell this year Grin .

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 10:11

Amanda is a sad character really.

I'm not doing Halloween this year as last year someone dropped wax over the drive and I had to pay someone to remove it ! Flipping kids with their spooky lantern things.

Kevin and all the pictures of children.. for personal use...grin

Okay, yes, I did laugh at that.

BarkandCheese · 11/10/2019 10:16

I think Kev is meant to work at a soft play place, but it looked more like an office. I wonder if they couldn’t get permission to film in an actual soft play centre?

spiderlight · 11/10/2019 14:11

What kind of school does sports day in November?!

Bluewavescrashing · 11/10/2019 14:13

Good point! Usually summer time for sports day.

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 14:42

I wish our old school did sports day in autumn : not as hot as the beginning of July usually is!

Funniest moment of the second series for me was Meg falling down the stairs on the bus when she heard “tequila”.

escapade1234 · 11/10/2019 15:00

I love it but Julia is an awful person without a single redeeming quality. Mean to her mother, rude to everyone at the school, dismissive of her friends and completely uninterested in her kids. Are we supposed to like her?

mizu · 11/10/2019 16:35

Have now watched them all. Brilliant. Very well written. Might have to watch them all again.

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 16:45

I think that Julia can have a heart sometimes; when she really thought about Manus and what could be happening to him ( they didn't realise he was ok ) she lightened up a lot and showed her vulnerable side to her mum. She is just a woman on the edge most of the time but I think she does care deep down. She has a nice friendship with Liz and looks to her to sort things out. Two completely different people that seem to respect each other.
Having a dh as detached as Paul is doesn't help! I don't think we're meant to like her but I can sympathise with her sometimes.
Liz is my favourite one and Amanda could become a bit of a legend as she is very believable.

BarkandCheese · 11/10/2019 17:07

Amanda reminds me a bit of Pauline from Mum in that they’re both absolutely horrible to those around them, but then when the mask slips and you see the insecurities you feel sorry for them.

The80sweregreat · 11/10/2019 17:13

Yes, Pauline in Mum is a monster but drill down and you see why. Same with Amanda putting on a brave face over her divorce when really she is completely gutted about it all.
