Anyone watch the start of series 2 tonight? It's in Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC2, so will be available on iplayer.

I thought this whole concept sounded awful and cheesy when I first heard of it, but I loved s1.

I'm glad they've kept the two architects the same.

Did no one else watch this?

I’ve not watched it but I’m going to look it up and watch it on my break from work tonight

CoolCarrie · 10/10/2019 00:53

I did, I enjoyed it and the first series too, glad to see it back.

Crawley65 · 10/10/2019 01:00

I like this series but the male architect sure sticks to a formula. Loads of wood and uncomfortable, impractical built in seating along the walls. Tonight’s episode had really uncomfortable lounge seating - just imagined grandparents trying to get comfy!

bellabelly · 10/10/2019 01:02

I love this programme. I wish they'd come and do my home - or at last give me virtual reality goggles to use around the house!

BitOfFun · 10/10/2019 01:03

Oh God yes, I think he must have had a traumatic experience on a proper sofa once. Otherwise I can't fathom what he's got against them.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/10/2019 08:49

Yes he definitely loves bench seating.
I do like his ideas, and hope more people actually pick his this season. One of the houses that was his design last year was fab in the end.

Does anyone else wonder though.. they spend all this money on renovating the whole downstairs and blow their budgets.. does this then mean their upstairs looks shit in comparison?

I just think if you had a drastic overhaul downstairs, you should leave some budget to do a make over upstairs too. As i know it would drive me mad to have a beautiful downstairs and completely the opposite upstairs.

Id this on iPlayer? I can't find it.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/10/2019 09:22

@noIntern It should be, it was on last night on bbc2, I think series 1 is also on there.

I'm just catching up with this, thanks for the thread, coveting - I do wish they would'nt schedule the house porn against Masterchef! Lucky MC finishes on Friday.....

Anyway, I've just got to the first reveal and OMG, the BENCH SEATING again! What is it with him?!

jay55 · 10/10/2019 21:06

Thanks for the heads up, I'll catch up tomorrow.

NCTDN · 10/10/2019 22:29

I really enjoyed the laat series but hope that this time he isn't all wood!
My favourite one last time was they very first one - the pull out bed was ingenious.

LoafEater · 10/10/2019 22:46

I find the fellas teeth very unsettling and he loves banquette / caravan seat.

notaladyinred · 10/10/2019 23:10

It's not really a second series, it's the last three episodes from the first which have been held over from earlier in the year, so don't expect much to be different!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 10/10/2019 23:15

I knew what his design would be like. Laura is much more of a surprise. She understands that you need to be comfortable in your home. He doesn’t get that at all.

noIntern · 11/10/2019 06:34

rosegoldwatcher thx for the link!

jay55 · 11/10/2019 22:03

Really loved the result this week. The couple seemed far more involved this time and so got what they both wanted, and much better workmanship than in some of the previous makeovers.

Iggi999 · 11/10/2019 22:15

Is this the programme where one episode was a series of cell-like wooden rooms supposed to be bedrooms? That was weird.

NCTDN · 12/10/2019 11:17

@Iggi999 yes that one was really odd! Might work for a holiday home but not full time!

Halsall · 16/10/2019 20:22

Just watching tonight's. Anyone else?

PancakeAndKeith · 16/10/2019 20:27

I’m watching. It’s as much fun watching DH getting irate about it.

The chap seems to have failed to put a back door in that house.

PancakeAndKeith · 16/10/2019 20:29

Coming in through the utility is really odd.

PancakeAndKeith · 16/10/2019 20:32

The thing I find so silly about this is that they fake the VR reactions. They have the headsets off and so they can’t see it but they are all ‘wow’.

Halsall · 16/10/2019 20:36

Yes, exactly, Pancake - that really bugs me, for some reason
