Changed the name of this thread as we were very upset with the ending of series 3 out in Bangladesh! Waiting out for news of series 4. In the meantime, we are reviewing the seven series of Soldier Soldier.

So, the lads are trying to convince Jack he's done the right thing by packing in the army...or are they? Dave's riveting tales of his rocky road to lance corporal are an inspiration.

Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2019 21:32

Oh, that useful old nugget of wisdom - just punch the bully and they'll leave you alone - really?

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:33

Paddy the DIY expert with the backwards facing baseball cap.

Ouch, not sure about that shade of green on the wall.

Is that Paddy's choice of CD in the background or just mood music.

Art teacher looks up at Donna and literally flutters his eyelashes at her.

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:34

Meanwhile, somewhere on the River Thames, Donna and slimy Mark the lecturer are having an assignation.

I'm just thinking of that line in Blackadder goes Forth "I want to know how a war is fought...so badly"

Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2019 21:37

I feel so sad for Dave - they really have travelled a long road together and now they've reached the crossroads.

eejittwo · 05/11/2019 21:38

Mark? Calculating? Never in a day!

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:38

Donna has grown up since we first encountered her in series 1 but not sure Dave has matured at the same rate. In fact, he hasn't matured at all.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2019 21:40

And yet, despite feeling sad for Dave, I can see exactly why Donna would feel she needs to move on. Dave hasn't evolved a great deal.

That is underhand of Donna to talk about trust.

Now the old flame has left her husband.

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:42

Dave definitely adopts the caveman approach.

I think Major Doctor still has feelings for Helen.

So, now Jack is fully able to stand up for himself, so I bet he'll decide to go back and biff the bullies on the nose - jolly japes.

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:43

I do like Michael Stubbs. He comes across as a really dependable sort of guy.

Ooh get Laurence Llewellyn Garvey....

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:44

I like the way she pronounces liebfraumilch. Haha.

So did Jack go back or not?

Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2019 21:46

German wine has really dropped out of favour since the 80's although we drank a few nice bottles when we were over there on holiday a few years ago. It has a distinct flavour.

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:47

I am quite fond of riesling Rhu.

Jack Stubbs goes back to base, realises his locker has been tampered with and then knocks seven bells out of the ringleader.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2019 21:49

Go on then Jack, show them who's boss...

Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2019 21:50

Sally's time to be surprised at how domesticated Paddy is. A bit forward buying him sheets for his bed..ooh er missus!

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2019 21:51

Gosh, Paddy's fancy fan over the bed is somewhat out of character for him!

And yet another episode with a happy ending.

What are we doing next week?

Is the Hong Kong fan on the wall significant? Does it bring back memories of Nancy?
