Shiny new thread.

OP posts:

I think there's a happy medium though. There are hundreds of thousands of rumbas you could dance before needing to take your shoes off and add contemporary in.

I do dislike the dancing in trainers/sneakers/barefoot because they're so flat it changes the actions you're dancing, and wearing rubber-soles shoes would make spins much harder. Unless they were suede-soled, in which case, why not wear dance shoes?!

ElspethFlashman · 08/10/2019 09:03

Monkseal was hilarious this week. His bit on Catherine and Johannes was brilliant.

......a great big spin with lots of intense staring to the “AHM OFF THE DEEPEN, WASH AS AH DARRRVEN!” part

I proper cackled at that.

kazzaD66 · 08/10/2019 09:37

God, I used to love The Tube Grin

Mrsjayy · 08/10/2019 09:40

Oh I hate barefoot dancing. I fast forward the couple if they have no shoes it's too faffy and irritating

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2019 09:42

Did anyone watch ITT last night? I managed to miss it. Who presented it?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 08/10/2019 10:22

It was Rylan and they have moved it to 6.30pm on bbc2 iirc it was 5.15 on bbc1 before.
Anneka was on and
a) blaming the producers for her theme
b) blaming the woo hoo music and Kill Bill for her early departure
It was a bit awkward, she wasn't happy...on the one hand I agree with her that that wasn't a great theme for a charleston. On the other hand a bad workman blames their tools. I think a similar routine on DWTS Ireland went down well and had she had musicality it would have worked better than say Will's pokepaso.
She was so into trousers and jumpsuits until the Eliza Doolittle very quick journee that Kill Bill was a decent idea and she looked fabulous on Saturday. But the running bits, she was right, were pants.
Distract, divert was not going to work and potentially she'd have been better with a classy American smooth number like Chris or one of Kev's tangos or pasos if she had to do Latin. She was miffed as they had a hidden gun in garter red lipsticked paso lined up for next week.

Mrsjayy · 08/10/2019 10:28

Anneka sounds exhausting I am almost feeling sorry for Kevin what a whingebag it was everybody else blah blah !

Horehound · 08/10/2019 10:28

Just watching the results. Giovani is so funny when tess is going through who will be in bottom 2. He just moving his head in time to the music whereas the rest of them stand still in fear.
One weird thing is when tess says Alex and neil are through neil motions his fingers to his head and shakes in disbelief whilst saying "I didn't think..." like he didn't think they'd be through? Wtf

Gran22 · 08/10/2019 10:29

I've stopped watching it after being a fan from the start. I don't know if this has already been mentioned, (apologies if it has, not read 40 pages!) but part of my enjoyment was the rare opportunity to listen to a fantastic live big band complete with singers. Nothing faked, proper musicians.

The producers kill so much of the music by encouraging the moronic clapping along by the audience. I'm not the only one who dislikes it, there have been others, but we're obviously in the minority.

Mrsjayy · 08/10/2019 10:29

Oh and I had forgotten it was on Bbc2 I'll set it to record

Horehound · 08/10/2019 10:29

Surprised at anneka. I didn't see ITT but she portrayed herself to not give a fuck during the shows!

Horehound · 08/10/2019 10:31

Whats faked @gran22 ?
I also hate the moronic clapping.

Just watching Anton and nadiya..anton is shit!

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2019 10:47

Thanks Rage At least Anneka didn't pretend she was happy Grin.

There is a problem with the live band though Gran I don't reckon it's the clapping , the mikes never seem properly balanced for the viewers (i don't know if it sounds better in the studio) maybe the screaming of the audience affects it , I hate that more than the clapping actually!!

The singers sound soo muted and tinny too. It's a shame.

I think that Neil was unsure because the judges marked Alex down in movie week. She didn't seem so good\confident. I like her and would like her to win.

Theromanempire · 08/10/2019 10:49

I don't watch ITT so didn't see Anneka yesterday but I don't appreciate a sore loser! As I said previously, she didn't even try in the dance off.

Plus, did she think that Karim appreciated being dressed as a fluffy panda?? But he sucked it up and got on with it.

I wasn't an Anneka fan and am not sorry to see her go...think all the humility was fake if I'm honest! Just think she couldn't be arsed with it!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/10/2019 11:11

Whats faked @gran22 ?

I'm guessing lip syncing, auto tuning and all the other smoke and mirrors stuff that people seem to deploy for "live" performances.

Horehound · 08/10/2019 11:29

@Theromanempire
I agree..the humility was fake. Too nice nice for her own good.

derxa · 08/10/2019 11:35

I wasn't an Anneka fan and am not sorry to see her go...think all the humility was fake if I'm honest! Just think she couldn't be arsed with it! She really was a fucking pain.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/10/2019 11:59

Here you go imaginary. Smile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/10/2019 13:12

Thank you Moonbeams! What a lovely username!

DarlingNikita · 08/10/2019 13:48

Gran, I agree. I have a musician acquaintance who knows some of the Strictly band and he says they’re amazing; tell them what song is needed for what dance and they can just arrange it in their heads and play it on the spot, no workings-out necessary.

I’ve massive respect for the band and singers and I think the live music is one of Strictly’s most important elements. I’ve said this already but I thought the vocal on the Cabaret routine was stunning, and so difficult to pull off considering how iron-clad the original version is. Also the singing on ‘The Shady Dame From Seville’ last year really stood out for me; terrific in its own right but also a pitch-perfect Julie Andrews pastiche.

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 12/10/2019 18:53

Good evening

SoupDragon · 12/10/2019 18:55

Evening.

I feel sorry for Shirley sandwiched between Motsi and Bruno!
