Shiny new thread.

The group dances this week annoyed me... I'd like them to have done just one or two themed dances instead of all the arsing around creating 20 different movie scenes 🙄

ConfCall · 06/10/2019 20:24

David is cool under pressure which isn’t surprising given what he did for a living. He deserved to go through. Anneka gifted him four votes though, she was poor. Lovely, attractive woman though - I bet the others liked her.

Theromanempire · 06/10/2019 21:30

So anyone also think that Anneka just couldn't be arsed in the dance off? It was shocking, even by her standards!

iklboo · 06/10/2019 21:35

David just doesn't seem to have any personality.

Horsemad · 06/10/2019 21:36

Well the right person went. I will be voting for David next week if he does a passable dance.

Still can't believe Kelvin getting 10s, that Charleston wasn't that good.

xsquared · 06/10/2019 21:40

@Theromanempire There was very little attempt for any resemblance of a dance imo. I agree with Craig's reason for saving Nadiya and David, at least they were committed.

OP posts:
Surenuff · 06/10/2019 21:42

Didn't see the dance off but she seemed as if she couldn't be arsed in the performance as well Theroman, her movements were so limited and un-rhythmic. Either she just lost interest early on or she's got the dancing equivalent of tone deafness.

Surenuff · 06/10/2019 21:44

Or she hates Kevin...

Theromanempire · 06/10/2019 22:04

surenuff in the performance, she at least got the steps right even if they were badly executed. In the dance off, there was no attempt to even do that Confused

Tonnerre · 06/10/2019 22:42

I suspect Kevin is quite pleased at the prospect of having a relatively restful time for the rest of the series. It must be quite a contrast after four out of five years of flogging his guts out all the way through to the final.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 06/10/2019 22:56

I really liked Anneka - she always made me smile even though she couldn't really dance! I would have preferred David, Mike and Pokemon guy to go before her as I simply don't enjoy watching them as much (I have an irrational hatred for Janette, she bugs the life out of me!).

ElspethFlashman · 06/10/2019 23:03

I'm just amazed Kevin was given a proper duffer.

I mean, he was due a bit of a..... project.... but he'd have done better with Mike!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 06/10/2019 23:31

Gio is due a bona fide duffer by now, surely?!

theliverpoolone · 06/10/2019 23:31

When Anneka said at the end that dancing was now in her heart, my dd(12) raised an eyebrow and said 'Her heart can't be very lively then' Grin Grin She barely moved, and didn't do one recognisable Charleston step, while Kevin was dancing like a demon trying to distract us. DD also pointed out that if she'd been partnered with Anton she'd have stayed in for weeks, as people always seemed to vote him and his duffers through far longer than they should have been...….

Tonnerre · 07/10/2019 07:49

Kevin's already had a "project" when he was partnered with Susan Calman.

Tonnerre · 07/10/2019 07:58

DD also pointed out that if she'd been partnered with Anton she'd have stayed in for weeks, as people always seemed to vote him and his duffers through far longer than they should have been...….

Not true, though. He was out first with Susannah Constantine, and either first or second when he was with Gillian Taylforth. It's interesting that this year people at the end of the leader board don't seem to have been getting the sympathy votes.

Samcro · 07/10/2019 08:08

i feel a bit sorry for the footballer. he doesn't seem to get the votes. maybe it because football fans don't watch strictly. or people like me don't vote for him due to my hate of football.
sad for Aneka as she was fun.

covetingthepreciousthings · 07/10/2019 08:10

i feel a bit sorry for the footballer. he doesn't seem to get the votes

I also think it probably doesn't help that he hasn't been partnered with one of the more well known dancers, Nadiya hasn't really grown on me tbh.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/10/2019 09:32

I think the Pixar mix might have been because that's their licensed arrangement — there's definitely a concert band equivalent (it just has a bit of Ratatouille and Cars in between Up and Toy Story).

I haven't quite watched all of Saturday yet (was out, so watched Sunday first) so will come back when I have. Although I agree, 10s for Kelvin was generous! He was very good, but that first lift was definitely a bit wonky.

SoupDragon · 07/10/2019 10:03

or she's got the dancing equivalent of tone deafness.

I think she has freely admitted this.

ppeatfruit · 07/10/2019 10:40

Now HJC IS shaggable . I think he chose the wrong song to sing last night though. Meh to AJ he's too narcissistic for me, I think he swings both ways too. Did anyone note the salacious look he gave Gethin when being interviewed on ITT last week?

I STILL don't like Michelle. She said clearly on ITT that she's a " mother oh and singer" but I reckon her dancing is too good just to be down to Joe Varney's coaching.

SoupDragon · 07/10/2019 10:47

From her Wiki page She attended an arts high school in South Plainfield, New Jersey, graduating in 1986.[5] She then moved to New York and attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan for two years.

She also did lots of "voguing" in clubs. So, she's had dance experience which will definitely stand her in good stead for Strictly as she'll have rhythm and know how to move. Not quite Ringer material as it's not been her job I guess.

Mrsjayy · 07/10/2019 11:02

Yes she was Voguing with "the queens" the dancer who popularised voguing named her Michelle Visage apparently so she can dance but isn't a professional dancer. Karim went to stage school so he is dance trained

Mrsjayy · 07/10/2019 11:05

Oh and I never liked Anneka I thought she wasn't arsed and just there for the money (I'll just slink off thread now Grin)

ppeatfruit · 07/10/2019 11:10

Thanks Soup and Mrsjayy Do they have to have been 'professional' dancers to be called ringers? I knew it!! She didn't have to tell porkies Hmm
