Jean and Ian slept together once last year. I can remember us all going yuk on here about that although Ian was being nice at that time and she seemed happy with him ( for the five minutes they were an item)

People saying that Chantelle is trapped. I can see why she was before as there wasn't any contact with Karen or her dad and the kids were small and they lived away.
However, she now has her own family two minutes away from her and they are supportive and the children are a bit older too. She has proved she's a good hairdresser, so can earn a living. She needs to get away from him and tell her parents what is going on. She could take him to the cleaners easily : money shouldn't be an issue.
I know she's been brainwashed into thinking she isn't any good but something needs to happen to make her realise she can do without him and his money! I really hope they show this and it's not just Mitch and mick beating him up or something silly like that!
A positive storyline is needed here I think.
One to empower people ; plus she has a lot more going for her than others in the same sad situation as Karen is strong and would help her.

She loves Gray though she thinks he is damaged and can change she is waiting on him loving her properly and changing that is why she won't leave him, also her kids have a nice life she doesn't want to be seen as a failure for breaking up a family.

Mrsjayy, I do get that aspect of Chantelle's relationship; but this has been going on for years and he hasn't changed at all!
Once he knows she's no longer pregnant it'll all start up again much worse than before : you lost our baby, it's all your fault etc etc.

Rather odd for Karen to advise Chantal not to tell Gray about the miscarriage. She thinks their marriage is strong and perfect. In those circumstances this would be shared. Without knowing about the abuse no one would advise keeping that up yourself .

Yes I think that out of character advice was a plot device so Gray will find out of his own accord thus ensuing more horrible scenes. I hope this story wraps up at Christmas/new year.

I could see why. Chantal was very upset, worrying about how gray would feel, to advise her to look after herself, without the worry of his heartbreak.
Karen probably notices Gray is the needed sulky type, you would pick up on it even if he seems charming, her constantly phone watching, nervousness etc.

I think you are right Emerald she wants her child to protect herself and Karen has been through a lot of grief with men in her life she doesn't wants Chantelle blamed.

I find the crime stories a bit tedious TBH - Eastenders seem very keen on them, but they are unconvincing and I never find them interesting or exciting. This latest one with Ben is no different. For example, where has his entourage of heavies suddenly come from?

YES Thug man 1,2and 3 seem new best buddies. This thug story is like the great ballsed up Jewel raid. When it got so complicated nobody knew who stole from what or who ended up with what.

Surely Phil trying kill Kat (was it?) Cancels our that Stacey hit with wrench for Phil threatening Kats kids. For the money which was paid back, that Alfie who may be dead or not took (right?) That Martin took the blame for so that Ben wouldn’t tell Phil Stacey hit him and left for dead (or was it Ben left for dead?) it’s just toooooo complicated already. Then add in a Martin having steal a car, that wasn’t really stolen because Ben owes New thug gang 2 that kidnapped Lola that Kush and Martin got freed. That a Martin owed back, so had to debt collect little old ladies, beat up Bens previous unseen customers, who also want to get back at Bens crew. Who Ben tried frame with Uncle Jack that got him off that ended up Martin hanging off bridge.

Yes the thug storylines must continue so that jack has something to do at work because the police have so little to do they are super excited to stand on a street corner in a bad suit smirking at their secret genius skills

Akire, a brilliant recap and goes to show how completely nonsensical the whole thing is. I do like nu Ben and he is menacing, but the story has too many twists to keep up with really. It's also been spread out over many months so hard keep track.
As you said, it's like the jewels / heist one that we all had trouble keeping up with and most of us on here watch every episode. I'm sure that will come back to haunt people one day as well!

Stacey being away could easily be passed off in so many different ways to this.
