First thread here.

OP posts:

Thanks very much!

I need the time to know how long I have to organise the sweep stakes.

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/09/2019 15:58

Craig Kelly!
He was absolutely bloody incensed that nobody else thought he was as good as he did!

Mrsjayy · 10/09/2019 16:26

Apparently KFG is fuming he got 60 year old Anneka Rice and thinks it is a punishment for dating Stacey Hmm

xsquared · 10/09/2019 16:35

KFG has been in the final many times as it is. What is wrong with getting Anneka? Anneka is popular isn't she? Even if she is a duffer, I reckon she'll stay in because those who remember her from Treasure Hunt or Challenge Anneka, will probably vote for her.

I think Anneka is the one who is unlucky to get him! KFG is really vain and I can't stand him. When Stacey won last year, he made it all about him.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/09/2019 16:40

I’d have thought the worst punishment for dating Stacey is having to date Stacey

Mrsjayy · 10/09/2019 16:43

A "source" close to KFG said he calls himself king Kevin I mean it was in the sun so...

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/09/2019 16:47

Totally agree!! Wasn't he the one who got lifted up and paraded about too?! I feel like any other pro (bar Anton) would have made sure it was more about their partner!

Can totally see him calling himself King Kevin, and can see him telling Stacey to call him that too. Not a fan of KKFG Wink

Mrsjayy · 10/09/2019 16:56

Well maybe KKFG has another stint in rock of ages so might not be doing the tour

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/09/2019 17:08

KKFG Grin

I’d have thought the worst punishment for dating Stacey is having to date Stacey Grin

Honestly, the Strictly thread is the thing that keeps me always coming back to MN

Theromanempire · 10/09/2019 17:52

KKFG...please let this stick from now on GrinGrin

Why shouldn't he get an older partner...unless he has a contract which specifically says he has to a young partner who has rhythm etc, he needs to suck it up and accept it's part of being on the show Hmm

I honestly don't remember Craig Kelly being that bad in terms of attitude - obviously I remember his dancing not being great Wink.

Mrsjayy · 10/09/2019 17:55

I quite liked Craig Kelly he had a very dry sense of humour maybe it just came over wrong

SerenDippitty · 10/09/2019 18:23

I thought the judges were quite unnecessarily nasty to Craig tbh.

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/09/2019 18:41

I dont remember a sense of humour in him at all!

But I do agree the judges might have been a bit harsh (I don’t remember it more than a vague impression of defensive body language on his part) but they’ve never taken well to contestants (or pros!) that don’t bow down to their superior knowledge have they?

100PercentThatBitch · 10/09/2019 18:54

As soon as I saw that headline I was like :

"Usual tabloid bollocks"

KKFG has refuted it which of course he would anyway, but the facts are THE FACTS

  1. A winning professional is NEARLY ALWAYS given the presumed least likely to succeed the following year out of fairness to the others
  1. He will have known weeks if not months before they filmed the launch, the reactions are as fake as they look. I don't know why they keep the pantomime up, the old way was better

I miss Brendan too, excellent spats with Craig.

IslaMann · 10/09/2019 19:36

I don't understand the Kevin hate. I love him! Currently listening to his podcasts, the first one has been really interesting. I saw him in BTF, the "King Kev" moniker was def a Piss take of himself.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 10/09/2019 20:33

My overriding impression was that Craig Kelly was a bit of a git to Flavia. Their partnership was awkward as hell.

I didn't enjoy judges' criticism as it made for awkward viewing and you could cut the atmosphere with a knife.

More than the usual Brendan/JJ/Artem judge-spats. It felt like there was something underlying going on.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 10/09/2019 20:34

In his defence maybe he was being treated unfairly behind the scenes by production and what we saw on TV was an expression of his discomfort.

dontcallmelen · 10/09/2019 20:40

I agree it was all very odd & uncomfortable to watch & appeared to come out of nowhere.

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/09/2019 20:43

It was certainly memorable. I don’t even recall what series/the winner, it his awkward body language is stuck in my brain!

KurriKawari · 10/09/2019 22:20

The pros and celebs met each other well before the launch show. They get them all to dance with each other so they can see not just the height issue but also who gels with whom. Hence why Gorka was benched so last minute. Kevin will have known he had Anneka. Also the winning pro always gets someone not very good. After all those years of getting to the final and actually winning I think Kevin is happy. The hate for him only exists on MN. He is a well liked pro and him consistently getting to the final is a reflection of that. I'll now get told that's because the judges favour him blah blah or his celebs are popular blah blah.

KurriKawari · 10/09/2019 22:21

I don't remember Craig Kelly but I remember the episodes with Will Young being super awkward- was it like that?

Mrsjayy · 10/09/2019 22:25

I think I am misremembering Craig Kelly and thinking of somebody else I don't recall awkwardness or spats with Brenda

100PercentThatBitch · 10/09/2019 22:30

Do you not remember some of the times Brendan literally stood at the judges table going

NO! No! I won't stand here and listen to this!

Swept up his partner and flounced to the backstage bit. Happened so many times

The mad fight he had with Craig over Emma Bunton was great as well but that was ITT

Mrsjayy · 10/09/2019 22:34

I loved Brendans flounces he was socamp dragging some poor woman up the stairs in a hissy fit ! Ah i miss hissy fits James Jordan was brilliant at them too he wasn't as marchy and Brendan though.

xsquared · 10/09/2019 22:44

Brenda really should have known when to shut up, but to his credit, I admire the way he stuck up for Charlotte when Shirley was ripping her to shreds.
