You’d think the Eyes would have worked out that they chat in front of the fridges.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 12/08/2019 21:59

Yes they’re a bit blatant about it Grin

RonnieScotts · 12/08/2019 22:04

I thought serena took June to nick behind Fred's back, because she suspected Fred was infertile. Fred never found out much was the father did he?

If the Canadian government should ask for DNA evidence, it would've ironed that the Waterford's gave no ties to Nicole.

I think Fred found out about not being the father during a blazing argument he and Serena had in the abandoned house in Season 2 just before June had the baby. She was hiding upstairs somewhere.

theGirlWithManyFaces · 12/08/2019 23:10

Serena told Fred he isn't the biological dad and then June said it in anger to him too. The Canadians got hold of the tape June sent to Luke so already know Nick is the dad - they mentioned it when speaking with June in Washington when she agreed for Nick to give over info.

I hope we hear more about CL - it's interesting how the show makes you feel endeared to him so as PP have mentioned, it would be good to have some flashbacks to see what he actually did.

Is he mentioned in the book?

OriginofSpecies · 12/08/2019 23:11

Grin re the fridge chatting. They never take anything from there either, making it all the more obvious they just go to the fridges to chat.

Serena taunted Fred about him not being Nicole's father, and June pretty much told him the same thing, so he does know. But he's so keen to be seen to be keeping his house in order, he can't/won't say anything.

Re fridge chatting.... well, a Martha was hung as a result of her chat with June there so I'm surprised they risk it.

Good graphics though...

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/08/2019 09:02

It doesn't look at all natural so I'm sure they'd be spotted as suspicious. They just stand and stare at a few bottles but don't take anything, I would have thought they'd have quite a specific list given there isn't much there anyway.

HeatedRollers · 13/08/2019 09:21

It will be us in November, go to the supermarket with a list, get what you can to create a meal. They will be examining unfamiliar products.

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/08/2019 09:46

I get what you mean about being us in November but I didn't think the handmaid's planned the meals. I thought that would be the Martha's job. It's a useful plot device though.

HeatedRollers · 13/08/2019 09:54

Yes you are correct meal planning is the Martha's domain, June was once asked by her Martha to get some beef, she returned with the wrong cut or could only obtain that cut of beef. Another time June spoke about the availability of fruit. The handmaid makes the best of what's available.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/08/2019 10:54

It was either June or Nick who taunted Fred with a line about not having a child of his own or something. It must have been last season i think.

thatone · 13/08/2019 11:30

Commander Lawrence, however likeable in some respects, is quite the hypocrite. His comment about how all regimes make exceptions (when June questioned how he thought he could have avoided the ceremony) really exposed the weakness of his position. He was fine with everyone else suffering.

I would have thought he is intelligent enough to know how things would turn out. He and his wife must have had opportunities to leave before things got really extreme.

MargoLovebutter · 13/08/2019 11:55

I know Lawrence helped Emily escape but I'm not convinced he's likeable.

In a way, that's what I love about Attwood's approach and indeed what they have carried through the series - no one is a clear cut goody or baddy, which is how it is in real life, much as we would like to think otherwise!

harper30 · 13/08/2019 12:33

I really did get goosebumps at the end of this one with all the 'yes' muffins and those dramatic shots of the table then June's face, I'm excited for something to happen! Feels like not much has gone on this series.
Definitely agree with other posters, I don't think June or Serena would get away with their behaviour in the 'real Gilead'.
Is anyone else scared that June will be pregnant again?

Shakennotshook · 13/08/2019 20:08

if he will voice an objection to that too, especially considering her finger is missing as a result of her trying to go against the rules he is such a fan of.

I think the glove is a lazy way of avoiding doing CGI to fake her finger being half there . Same for Captain Janine's new eye patch!

MozzchopsThirty · 13/08/2019 21:11

Is it only me who's bored of this?
I loved season 1 & 2 but am struggling to watch this
She's no longer likeable

EmpressLesbianInChair · 13/08/2019 21:54

She's no longer likeable

Was she ever though, really?

xsquared · 13/08/2019 21:57

Serena told Fred, at least twice, last season that he wasn't the father of June's child. This was before Nicole was born.

The first time, she said something along the lines of "you're not worthy" after finding out that he took her to Jezebel's. The second time she explicitly said that June had run away with the father of her child, meaning Nick, when June was hiding in the house she'd met Hannah/Agnes in.

I haven't really been following season 3 so much as it seems to be dragging.

CodenameVillanelle · 13/08/2019 22:03

How is June supposed to be likeable??

MozzchopsThirty · 13/08/2019 22:07

I thought she was slightly more likeable in season 1 & 2
Now she's like a sociopath
I just don't care anymore
And I miss looking at nick

HeatedRollers · 13/08/2019 22:09

They are flawed humans in extraordinary situations, none are likable.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 13/08/2019 22:14

I love her!

bumblingbovine49 · 13/08/2019 22:30

Morning after pills don’t come in a massive pack like that

No they don't but I think you can actually use some normal pills as a morning after pill but in a different dosage - though probably not recommended . ec.princeton.edu/info/combecp.html So maybe she was meant to use them like that.
