When it turned out the ceremony wasn't being directly observed I fully expected CL to masturbate so that June could plant the "evidence". I'm not sure why they didn't do that? It seems like the least terrible option.

Why do they only do the Ceremony once a month surely they know the best chance of getting pregnant is every 2 days for about 10 days around ovulation? Have they never read a MN TTC board? I never understood why they didn’t do IVF anyway? I know it’s about control of women and the bible.

Do you think at some point Janine will find out the truth about Caleb and go absolutely off the rails. Although agree with PP it was good of June to protect her.

Also, noticed that the Martha that lives with June was the same woman who worked in the kitchens at Jezzabells and was the one who had a fling with Nick. Sure this was covered in last season but wonder if she will know more about Nick to share with June

The first episode for ages that had that real tense, closed in feeling. I loved June telling CL how to get through the ceremony. The whole episode had some really intriguing insights into the whole Gilead setup, references to the decor being a certain way, the vow that the ringed handmaids 'voluntarily' take, the lack of medications. Was torn between loving it, and being annoyed they'd wasted so many episodes before getting back to the original feel of the show.

i would think the Dr that examined June would know the difference in whether they'd had sex or she had put the semen there herself and that's why they asked him to be there/examine her.

I'm also a bit surprised that there don't seem to be Gilead agents working in Canada. When there were scenes with Luke and Nicole I kept expecting him to be attacked and baby snatched.

I think Fred is going to beat serena so badly that she finally vows to leave without him. I don't think we will get all of the happy endings we want or there would be no more seasons! But I think mrs Lawrence may make it out with some kids

Morning after pills don’t come in a massive pack like that, they come in packs of two. What Cmdr Lawrence gave June looked like the 28-day pack my POP comes in.

There is a scene in series 1. Fred, Pryce and another Commander are being driven by Nick and the 3 Commanders come up with the ceremony. After the coup. Pryce isn’t keen on the idea but is outvoted.

Was that a flashback scene? I thought the ceremony was already established as part of the designing of the regime so already in place by the time we were in season 1?

I accidentally saw a really irritating spoiler for a future episode (don't worry not going to put it here!).

So annoyed as now I'm just waiting for it and it's spoiled (obvs) one of the arcs.
