a hint of fromage Grin

I'm probably imagining it then kazza - maybe it's something from the tennis parallel universe, like Delpo's fisherman jumper (although that is now actually real) and Phil et Susie?!

Yes I saw Kyrgios said that Grin shows self-awareness I suppose!

kazzaD66 · 30/07/2019 18:52

Phil et Susie is real private Grin

PrivateIsles · 30/07/2019 18:58

Grin yes see - that's how I thought l'eau d'Henri was also real Grin

kazzaD66 · 30/07/2019 21:10

l'eau d'Henri Grin

magimedi · 30/07/2019 22:08

l'eau d'Henri - ca c'est un parfum que je bien veux apporter.

JaneJeffer · 30/07/2019 22:31

Ooh la la la la magi

PrivateIsles · 31/07/2019 09:16

Oui d'accord magi Grin

That's about the limit of my French.

Fin.

magimedi · 31/07/2019 09:36

My beloved PFGC is being bought up bi-ligual. (Obv, as she lives in France). The way the languages get mixed is so funny:

"Granny, pourquoi les cows sont mangeing le grass?".

It's Franglais at its best & I envy the way she can roll her 'r's.

JaneJeffer · 31/07/2019 10:01

Aww that's so cute. French was my favourite subject at school but it's extremely rusty by now.

magimedi · 31/07/2019 10:14

I was lucky enough to spend a year in France, studying, when I was young & have visited a lot and had a nephew who married a French woman so have kept mine going. And DS has lived there for a long time now.

My grammar is dire, but I can keep my own in most conversations.

Raahh · 31/07/2019 15:21

That is so cute magiGrin

I did A level French and Russian - and a year of Swedish at university. I was absolutely rubbish at Swedish. Grin.

I can't remember most of what I learnt (I try, and usually fail, to help dd1 with her school French). I can say 'I don't know' in a number of languages, which might come in handy one day. Grin.

We have just been out for the day, shopping- the rain is horrendous and I think half the roads are flooded. I need to build an ark.

That's v sweet magi. I was crap at languages - I enjoyed them but I could never pronounce those French Rs properly and it put me off.

Meanwhile, I noticed Grigor won a match yesterday.

As did Ernests.

Shock
PrivateIsles · 31/07/2019 16:13

Raahh it was like that by us yesterday - just one extreme to the other after last week's heatwave!

Hope you didn't get too soaked.

JaneJeffer · 31/07/2019 16:19

*Meanwhile, I noticed Grigor won a match yesterday.

As did Ernests.*

Prepare for Armageddon Shock

PrivateIsles · 31/07/2019 16:36

Jane Grin I know. Heatwaves, monsoons, Grigor and Ernests winning... It doesn't bode well.

JaneJeffer · 31/07/2019 23:01

Grin are moustaches all the rage in Australia at the moment?

TENNIS thread - We wave goodbye to SW19, and look forward to the hardcourt season.
kazzaD66 · 01/08/2019 12:14

Dear God! It's really not a good look Confused
It reminds me of the Aussie cricket team growing them once, although that may have been for Movember?

DH grew a horrendous tache for Movember in 2011. He looked like a gay Mexican bandit - which I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with but not when it's my DH Hmm

He raised a fair bit of money but I made him shave it off a couple of days early because I refused to let him go to my mum's funeral looking like he did!

He's now had a beard for a few years, which he refuses to get rid of Angry

I see the Murray brothers won.
Also read that Stefanos is going to play doubles with Dick in the next tournament Hmm

PrivateIsles · 01/08/2019 14:42

Grin it does look like something you should only do for charity IMHO. I don't think moustaches look good on anyone tbh (apart from Nigel Bruce in the old Sherlock Holmes films, obviously).

I see Delpo has begun his gym-based rehab. So put that in your pipe and smoke it, commentators who were so quick to write him off (certain butterfly-fanciers spring to mind Hmm).

Good result for the Murray Bros, I'm afraid I didn't watch though - I thought of it but can't take the late nights at the moment. David Law on twitter said Andy played/served really well.

PrivateIsles · 01/08/2019 14:47

Beards are a totally different matter - I approve of beards. It's just lone moustaches I don't like.

Fizzywinegum · 01/08/2019 17:22

Still laughing at the thought of kazza sniffing Henri Leconte Grin

I’m not really a fan of facial hair (especially my own!). I do like Benoit’s beard though - it is so magnificently Gallic Smile

I tried to watch some tennis on Prime last night but the weird camera angles and poor picture quality put me off - I think I was spoiled watching Wimbledon Sad

Hope that Delpo’s recovery continues. I can’t really get excited about Murray’s doubles playing even though I do like him - the regular doubles players must be getting annoyed at the sudden interest in doubles all of a sudden.

Fizzywinegum · 01/08/2019 17:24

Too many suddens in my last post Grin

kazzaD66 · 01/08/2019 17:39

It's bloody annoying fizzy that it seems you hit a certain age and suddenly, you have hardly any eyebrows left but plenty of fast growing hair on your chin and neck - or is that just me? BlushConfused

Fizzywinegum · 01/08/2019 17:41

My eyebrows are pretty crazy as well kazza - it’s not good Grin

PrivateIsles · 01/08/2019 18:28

I wonder how much the seasoned doubles players like putting the singles "play the odd doubles match" players in their place?!?

Don't talk to me about eyebrows - mine are beyond redemption.

kazzaD66 · 01/08/2019 21:19

Just started reading But Seriously, John McEnroe's second autobiography. He's just called Gimelstob a loudmouth, who only got to a career high singles ranking of 63.
