They’ll have one of the lionesses I reckon.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 23/07/2019 08:19

No dates yet daisy, usually 2nd week of September from memory?
I had to really think what lioness meant then Blush - I didn't watch the women's footie but DD did so she'll be thrilled if any sign up.
It must be hard being the sleb booker though (Stefania?) so many have already done it, so many have turned it down...I was hoping for Martin Kemp or his son but allegedly both have declined.
I'd do it for free - at some point they ought to make it Strictly Mum Dancing and just recruit off here. Grin
It will be interesting how the tabloids try and force curse storylines and showmances this year - seeing as every pro is currently loved up.
I'm sure that won't stop Dan Wooton but no-one is single atm, even AJ is taken (a girl called Abbie which shows my gaydar is off). No doubt we'll see headlines of Gemma, Ashley, Joe etc being 'threatened' by their other half's new partnerships.

Just bought tickets for AJ's solo tour next year, squeeeeeee Grin

Hmm not sure how a judge can be impartial when their sister is one of the contestants - I know it's not a 'real' competition but surely the same rules should apply?

I really wanted Alfonso Ribeiro to become a regular judge, he was so good as a guest judge.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 24/07/2019 13:12

Oh yes, flump - that would have been awesome.

I'm not worried about impartiality - I'm confident I could impartially judge and critique my brother.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/07/2019 19:25

I don't think judging a sister is that bad. Judges will regularly judge their own pupils (and quite often their own children), so I think you'd get used to having to be impartial pretty quickly.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/07/2019 21:26

Jorge has the biggest teeth I've ever seen (impressively white and even, but HUGE!)

You're going to need to brace yourself for Rylan, then Schaden! 😁

SoupDragon · 26/07/2019 12:21

so I think you'd get used to having to be impartial pretty quickly.

There were always cries of favouritism with Len and Kevin. And others. Surely there were options for a new judge that didn't include a family member.

SoupDragon · 26/07/2019 12:22

The judge may well be able to be impartial but the general public won't believe it.

RoseDog · 26/07/2019 12:32

I read from a reliable source daily mail that Anneka Rice is likely to be a contestant this year...

ChicCroissant · 26/07/2019 12:40

I saw that too Rose, although there may be an issue with a fair number of viewers having no idea who she is - I thought they'd brought Joe in last year to widen the demographic although I never know the soap stars they sign up either it must be quite a task to get a broad variety of people to appeal to the entire audience.

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/07/2019 13:35

I've just seen that Neil has posted that he has some exciting news coming soon, I really hope it's that he finally has a partner this year.

ChicCroissant · 26/07/2019 15:47

Usually when the Strictly pros post about exciting news it is a dancing tour. Never about the show, unfortunately. I live in hope ....

Think you might be right, he's since added that it isn't to do with Strictly, but they do start rehearsals on Monday! Grin

I hope they do announce a dance tour, I'd love to see him & Katya live, their choreography is amazing.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 26/07/2019 17:18

Did they only do Somnium in London? Maybe they're touring that?

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/07/2019 17:36

Yes I think so, I think I'd rather see a 'normal' dance show than that if that makes sense.

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/07/2019 17:38

That reminds me... did anyone go see Here Come The Boys tour?! It was amazing, one of the best things I've ever been to watch, just phenomenal to see those dances lives. Especially Giovanni jiving, just looked so effortless. We were fortunate enough to have front row seats Grin
Definitely recommend the show if they do it again next year!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/07/2019 23:03

Just been watching Baby Ballroom on My5 catch up. It's fascinating to see some of the young stars in the making.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross Sun 14-Jul-19 20:39:37
Well, this afternoon I went to see Giovanni, Gorka and Aljaz in their Here Come the Boys tour and can confirm that they are all really quite easy on the eye 😂

And watching them dance with professional partners rather than celebs - God, they are AMAZING dancers.

Grin

It was amazing - I loved the banter between them. Great fun!

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2019/jul/29/stacey-dooley-work-really-hard-one-of-few-talents

interesting interview here
I do wonder whether, if she hadn't been with Kevin, they might have gone for her as a judge a la Alesha. But I also wonder whether she would have turned it down. I hadn't realized she had returned to documentaries. Had only heard of the make up show Glow up although never saw it so don't know what she was like as a host.

Have to give her credit for carving a career with no qualifications to her name. Fair play to her.

xsquared · 30/07/2019 12:42

BBC have just announced a new pro dancer. Her name is Nancy Xu. Off to google her now.

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/07/2019 13:11

Nancy was a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance in China and a dancer on hit West End and Broadway show Burn The Floor.
She's also competed in the U21 World Championships in 2010, where she came in as a finalist, and was a runner up at the 2013 International Singapore Championships.

That's what I found in an article about the new dancer.

ChicCroissant · 30/07/2019 13:39

I got the same notification this morning. A very late addition, I wonder why that is?

I've got a sinking feeling about this year's series, I hope I am wrong.

A replacement for Pasha I think?
