Rumour has it that a lot of her more striking/unusual choreography was down to Neil, so it’ll be interesting to see what she comes up with this year.

I don't get the Neil hate either. He's an amazing dancer and yes, he's been champion of international contests a few times I believe.

I didn't like that little comedy vignette they gave Neil to do on ITT. That put me off his personality a bit. However I'm keen to see him get a sleb partner.

He has represented Finland, the Netherlands and the UK during the course of his competitive career. He holds 45 dance championship titles, including 8 times British National ,8 times Dutch National, European and 4 times World Latin Champion including World latin Showdance Champion.

Wow thanks Polka As I said myimaginarycat it seems that a lot of Strictly's output has to be 'comic' because it's a 'family' show, and the producers seem to think that children have to be patronised by having 'comic' turns every now and then; poor Neil seems to have drawn the short straw by having to appear in them ,I suppose because he hadn't much to do on the bench.

Those serious classic ballroom 'teaching the basics' turns that he and Luba did were fantastic actually.

Apparently Gorka not partnered with a celeb this year...he had better be in a shit load of the group dances or I'll be inconsolable!! I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to commit given he's got a little one now.

Just noticed Neil has a countdown timer to his exciting news at 8.30am tomorrow, I would think it would be to say he has a partner? But maybe it is a tour... sans Katya? Maybe that's why the exciting news was delayed a few weeks ago, because they were in the midst of announcing the split.

I have a request/demand: someone needs to do a Viennese Waltz in Halloween week to Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt, and end with a fleckerl as the music speeds up.

I'm hoping Luba gets a celeb this year, I wish they'd bench Katya and was a little disappointed that she'd made it back into the mix at a late stage

'Exciting news' from a Strictly professional is always a tour! The press said that Somnium didn't do as well as they'd hoped (hardly surprising given the circumstances) so I also think it's a solo tour he's going to announce, hence the split announcement before Strictly started.

I think Karen is currently the longest-serving female professional so it's unlikely they would bench her kiss of death right there unfortunately

You were right, he is heading on a solo tour next year, I'm actually very disappointed it's not coming anywhere near to us. I'd actually love to go see it as I think it will be a good laugh as well as amazing dancing.

You're not, Covet. I like Neil too. I get tat people are sad about Gorka but that's not Neil's fault. If heaven too short, then he's too short. Neil has been benched for a while now and deserves a chance to shine.

This solo tour must have taken a while to plan and book, so I’d say him & Katya have been living separate lives for a good long while & only stayed together ‘publicly’ for the pretence at their own show.
