I wouldn't mind seeing Janette benched this year, I'd prefer to either keep Katya or have Luba get a celeb.

Me too although I loved her rapport with and choreo for Dr Ranj.
Unless she is expecting and already past first trimester (and I have heard nothing in that regard despite thinking they had baby plans) then Janette is a shoo-in for Mike I think. He's a lot shorter than the other male slebs.

“This year's series will see the return of judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli, but Dame Darcey Bussell will be replaced by Motsi Mabuse - sister of Strictly professional Oti.”

WTF?! How can that be? I am a big Oti fan but how is it even close to even handed to have the judging panel made up of 1/4 of a particular pro’s family?! The BBC are just blatantly fishing for controversy to boost ratings now. Embarrassing.

Has Oti been confirmed as dancing this series?

Motsi judges the German Strictly and judged Oti for two series of that (and for that matter her BIL as Oti's husband did a series too) without any issues. Honestly, I can say that, as I watched them.
She is a decent enough judge, knows her stuff, is not strict like Lammy (German Len but marks like Craig) but nor does she give Donny tens.
She's a mix scores wise between Craig and Bruno, probably like Len actually, - supportive, enthusiastic, knows her stuff - she was a pro on the show but doesn't show any favouritism towards family, pros or men being sexy.
When she judged Oti she was neutral - neither too mean nor too complimentary but that said, Oti never had ringahs on the German version.
Also on DWTS Julianne Hough judged both her Brother Derek and her friend Mark Ballas, son of Shirley, with no issues. It just never came up as a controversy. If it does in the UK it will only be if twatty Dan and other tabloids want to shit-stir cos nobody's shagging!

Oh and Motsi's been judging now for years over here so can do it in her sleep. Oti has not been named as a pro and one female has to be benched this year but I doubt it will be her as she's a popular pro.
She'll either be with James as he is also competitive and she won't take any of his shit if he gets moody, or with Will the paralympian because she took Jonnie's disability in her stride or possibly with Dev as long as she is fine with that (either her or her first sleb, the boxer, complained about them both being black, I cannot remember the details but they thought it was unfair being paired up as two ethnic minorities might be discriminated against by Joe Public or something ). I've slept since.

Oh no love, I am cynical enough to believe the producers know full well that they will get a story/publicity whenever Oti is marked, be that high or low. Unlike even Bild, the british paps will be all over it and looking specifically for anything they can make a headline out of.
Colour me shocked when that happens Strictly's huge in the UK, Let's Dance not so much...popular, makes the odd headline in klatsch and tratsch magazines but not as big as the UK original imho.
The couple winning in June did a Madagascar themed showdance. I was not impressed but my kids loved it!

Oti allegedly called him an arsehole in German at one point in training(!) but didn't comment on the pairing itself. I would have put her with Chucky Venn last year and was surprised she got Swanny.
But I might be reading too much into it. Anthony's comments did surprise me at the time.

If you look up Neil and Katya's dances on YouTube you'll see a lot of choreography that you'll recognise as Katya has used it on Strictly. I would be happy to see her benched this year but I hear that she's got a place in the main line up.

Gorka is good but doesn't tend to stand out (I thought the quickstep he did with Anastacia was fab) so I'd be happy to see Neil in instead of him for a year.

We do have good British dancers so I'm not sure why there is such an international element to the show. There are at least two tall males this time around (James Cracknell and David James) so I'm sure Oti will be with one of them.

I'd be sad if she got benched, but she posted what sounded like a farewell to strictly last year when she was announcing the Greatest Dancer shower, just sounded like she was ready for new horizons. Will try find it..

Ah sorry, I heard (DM, I think) that Katya had a place this year after possibly being benched - not Oti. I haven't heard that Oti would not be in it, though - although (same article) they may be looking for another female pro but possibly as a backup only.

OOooh good my thread has taken off again I heard little Joe Suggs on R2 this morning he's in a show at the Adelphi next month. It's incredible how popular Strictly is , he's sort of made it now, from being an anonymous youtuber! He and Dianne are an item????

They didn't admit it until after the series ended then Joe said he'd got something better than the and they went on holiday with his sister and her partner.
Many saw it coming or guessed but in fairness it was not used or aired quite as much as, say, Kara and Artem. I don't think they milked it particularly to try to win (looking at you AJ and Mollie).
They seem happy enough - his fans seem to like her (I haven't seen his videos since training but I did catch his Guessing the partnership video and she was ,illing around in the background).
They are touring with Joe and Dianne show iirc.
