Hi book nice to "see" you. Don't hide in the corner Grin You're obviously still as busy as ever!

magimedi · 02/07/2019 07:24

Waves to book - Great to see you again.

Raahh · 02/07/2019 07:42

Morning all!

Hello Book Lovely to 'see' you here again.

I am wondering how many upsets we might get today?

Thiem could easily struggle against Querrey, since he's not a natural on grass, and Sam is actually pretty decent.

I'm particularly worried about Cilic against Mannarino- I have a lot of time for Adrian, and he often does well at big events. Not sure if he's carrying an injury though- he was was meant to play Kyrgios at Queen's and that was cancelled.

I really hope Jordan can pull off an upset today- of all the people I really want to see beaten, Kyrgios is top of the list.

I'm always nervous when Rafa plays.

Unless something dramatic happens, I can't see Fed having a problem, unfortunately- but you never know. Harris is pretty young, the only other thing I really know about him is he South African. He might throw everything at the match, and get a result? Who knows.Grin

I have to go out at about 2.30pm for a while. I hope I don't miss to much!

bookbook · 02/07/2019 09:08

aw thank you! -
yes , life doesn't seem to slow down when you retire - it speeds up Jane !
Not much chance of seeing any live tennis this week , but hope to get up to speed for next week

PrivateIsles · 02/07/2019 09:13

Morning - and hi book - hope you're well!

I have to go out today but hoping to be back to see some of Rafa - although depending on the 2 women's matches on court 1, he could start a bit earlier. Would like to see Ash Barty start her campaign as well, but will miss it (hey - she used to play cricket you know!)

I don't know much about Harris either, except that he practised with Kando the other day, and they had a photo afterwards with their mums - cute.

Am a bit nervous for Marin as well - he has to shake off whatever's ailing him - hopefully he will.

Looking forward to Fognini v Tiafoe the most today I think (it'll probably be rubbish now I've said that) Grin

I’m feeling a bit nervous about today after yesterday - eek! Yes the only upset I wouldn’t mind is Kyrgios going out. Will hopefully get to see some of Rafa later but some good matches coming on.

Raahh your Norwegian mate Casper Rudd is playing Isner - that would also be a good upset.

I haven’t seen Goran yet - it’s a pity we have to watch Djok to get to see Goran.

Raahh · 02/07/2019 09:53

Fizzy I know! I would love to see Casper win that-although it would then remove possibly the only threat to Federer in his section of the draw (before he gets to Rafa, obviously Grin).

I'm beginning to think I will miss most of Rafa's match- I just hope it's an easy one.

I've remembered that Mannarino didn't play Queen's as he had just won at s'hertogenbosch- he did play at Antalya, got to the qfs. So he probably isn't injured. All of this adds up even more to a bit of threat to Cilic, who could very easily be joining Sascha and his mates on a coach trip to Halifax.

I have my bingo card at the ready- we should place bets as to how long into the Barty match (if not before) they mention 'cricket'.

Morning all!

There was a picture in the paper this morning of a photo Serena posted of her and her daughter in matching tops. I didn't know she'd given birth - I wish someone had mentioned she was a mum! Grin

Raahh · 02/07/2019 10:06

GrinA baby , you say.

But -vitally- did the doll have a matching t-shirt?

kazzaD66 · 02/07/2019 10:23

Yes Wink

kazzaD66 · 02/07/2019 10:30

Apparently, PHH might be carrying an injury, which clearly won't go down well with Andy if they have to pull out or the British media - what will they do?

And it is possible that Andy may play the mixed with SuperMum who also may be nursing an injury and has been known to pull out of doubles in the past

Raahh · 02/07/2019 10:46

kazza I saw her mention about mixed the other day- and all I could think cynic was what a sure fire way to keep attention focused on her. Even if she would have to share the limelight with Murray.

Interesting about 'Andy Murray's doubles partner' (The tennis player formerly known as PHHGrin). That would put the cat amongst the pigeons, if he's injured. He didn't play well yesterday. Would Andy be allowed to get a new partner at this stage?

Raahh · 02/07/2019 11:11

Not sure what to watch. Jordan is rocking his moustache, but I can't stand watching Nick.

It's Todd Woodbridge commentating, I think. He seems to think Nick will take today seriously, as he won't want to lose to Thompson- they have grown up on the circuit together, so it would be quite embarrassing for him to lose to him I bet.

But I hope Jordan can just focus on his game, and ignore the antics on the other side of the net. There are bound to be some.

Adelie0404 · 02/07/2019 11:12

Hello all!

What a moustache! I have to root for him though.
Actually I don't know why i am watching Kyrious. I do have to go out at 12 so he can't enrage me for long.
Hope to be in in time to see Rafa.

kazzaD66 · 02/07/2019 11:26

I believe it's too late to change doubles partners now Raahh. I think the mixed deadline is 11am tomorrow.

BBC showed Rafa standing there having all his bags searched on the way in Grin
Annabel has picked him for the title.

Just seen the first couple of games of Evans vs Delbonis. Don't think I've seen him play before. He's got the weirdest service action.

Maybe I'll also have to hunt for the moustache, although it will have to be momentary, as I don't want to watch Dick.

Raahh · 02/07/2019 11:36

kazza I thought it must be. Oh dear. What will they do, if AMDP-(TTPFKAPHH)has to pull out? The media will hate him. ShockGrin

I hope Annabel is in a better mood todayGrin- she was really getting irate over injury timeouts etc yesterday in the Woznaicki match. Never happened in her day, apparently. Players today are just spoilt.

And don't get her started on on court coaching! Grin

I am making the mistake of watching the Thompson match.

Jordan is winning. But all the commentary is about how clearly Dick just isn't himself. He's doing the usual. Arsing about doing the minimum- he will lose this set. But will probably attempt to play in the next one. He just messes with his opponents' heads.

Raahh · 02/07/2019 11:46

I can't listen to anymore, and he has leveled the set.

PrivateIsles · 02/07/2019 11:48

The tennis player formerly known as PHH Grin
I saw he vaguely mentioned an injury - hope he doesn't ask for any MTOs, Annabel will not be pleased!

I am just watching the scores on the app - I see Kyrgios has got back on serve.

James Ward seems to be doing well.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 02/07/2019 11:51

He messes with my head aswell Raahh which is why I can't watch him. It's not good for my blood pressure because he makes me want to mess with his head, preferably with a heavy blunt instrument.

I can't find him anyway. I looked for the moustache but Harriet Dart (watched by the Duchess of Cambridge) is the only match on red button.

Still, Dan won the first set Smile

Raahh · 02/07/2019 12:13

I've got most of the matches on the Virgin red button channels.

I see Nick won the first set then, which is gutting, as Jordan was serving for it.

But he does this - messes about, then realises he needs to play.

PrivateIsles · 02/07/2019 12:18

The DoC is watching Court 14? Good on her - I love that she genuinely loves tennis!

Remember last year when The Duchesses were there for the women's final - but of course ended up watching the end of Rafa v Djok? The cameras were on Kate and Meghan every few seconds of course (Although I much prefer that to close ups of annoying actors, over-acting their reactions to shots Hmm)

OP posts:
Raahh · 02/07/2019 12:27

Nishikori is doing ok at the moment. I had forgotten that he beat Kyrgios last year. (And Gulbis). It was the best I've seen of him on grass.

Then he came unstuck against Djok.

Chickenato is having a bad day at the office.

Zoeputthatdown · 02/07/2019 12:30

Dan Evans going well.

PrivateIsles · 02/07/2019 12:33

Chicken is getting fried Grin

Yes, Keith did have a good run last year didn't he - and he wasn't far away in the match with Djok iirc.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 02/07/2019 12:34

She is private in the members area with Anne Keothavong and Katie Boulter (I think).

Ward and Evans both 2 sets to love up.
