How cringe. I've two cousins who are arguably scientists - they just say - I work for a GSK, I work in a lab, or I work in the pharmaceutical industry or something. Another friend I went to school with says 'I work on ships!' (She's a marine biologist or something).

I have NEVER HEARD ANYONE (particularly an Irish person) declare themselves a scientist!
