I feel sorry for the ball boys/girls with all that clay blowing in their eyes.

Raahh · 07/06/2019 12:30

spinning that's what I've been afraid of. They can't afford to hang around .Sad

Raahh · 07/06/2019 12:43

This is a nerve wracking first few games.

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 12:44

Mats was just saying that the conditions are affecting Fed more than they are Rafa.

Meanwhile Roger: where's my parcel?!

Poor ball kids - also surely they should have hoodies or something? It looks freezing there.

Arty close-up of an umbrella handle Grin

At least I think that's what it was.

Grin

In theory- it ought to be the other way around- Fab was adamant it would affect Rafa.

Raahh · 07/06/2019 12:50

Guga!

Sam and Anne were cold earlier this morning.

At the very least they need an under armour top.

spinningpenguin · 07/06/2019 12:51

Rafa is waaaaayyy better in wind conditions imo... I just hope the gods of Tennis make this horrible weather go away

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2019 12:52

Tennis apocalypse!

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 12:52

It looks so stormy doesn't it? Like there's a twister on the way!

Rog has got his sulky face on.

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 12:53

Grin that shot of Roger looked like he was emerging from a sandstorm Shock

Vamos!

Raahh · 07/06/2019 12:57

VAMOS

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 13:01

Well done Rafa!

Btw. Where's this huge crowd of 15,000 that was ready to form an angry mob if the women had been moved onto Chatrier?? It doesn't exactly look full there, does it?! Confused

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 07/06/2019 13:02

Well done Rafa! The swirling sand won’t be good for Novak’s contact lenses - that’s if they manage to get on court - it does look a bit apocalyptic.

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 13:03

Oh ok - actually it does look pretty full from that other angle. Maybe lunch has finished?!

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 13:04

Wow what a shot Rafa!

On Eurosport they just said "did it need to be that good?"
Confused they are criticising him for being too good?!

Raahh · 07/06/2019 13:05

I keep thinking there are empty seats, Private but then I realised what I was looking at was actually stair wells- from a distance, it did look like empty seats though.

spinningpenguin · 07/06/2019 13:07

Oh no fizzy, I'm a huge Novak fan, didn't think of that... Its hour ahead in France so you're probably right about lunch private

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 13:10

spinning I do have a secret soft spot for Novak since I saw him play Rafa last year. And in fairness, Djok v Rafa on clay would probably be a great match. But I love Thiem as well.

They said earlier the weather's meant to be like this all day Sad

PrivateIsles · 07/06/2019 13:13

Has a match ever been called off for wind?

I remember when Andy Murray beat berdych at the US Open and a chair blew onto the court. I can't remember if they called it off though?

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 07/06/2019 13:16

Private they were talking about that match on Eurosport - chairs were blowing onto the court but it still didn’t get suspended.

Can’t believe they criticised Rafa for being too good - actually I can Grin

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2019 13:17

Yes!! What a shot!
