It was a lovely bear hug.

PrivateIsles · 02/06/2019 18:39

Great stuff. So pleased for Stan, it's great to see him win a match like that. He really took his chance there in the fifth.

Now all he has to do is beat Fed. Allez Stan!! Bear

I believe in the Bear,Private.

Meanwhile. Muguruza is about to lose to Stephens.

I like Stephens- but I wish Garbine had gone further.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 19:01

Aww, well, well done Sloane.

Shame for Muguruza though.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 19:11

Aww. Poor Stef in his press conference Sad.

Send his a Bear.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 19:14

He should take heart though- Sascha Zverev is 2 years older. I think Stef is better than Sascha, personally, certainly mentally. Stef has done better in Slams at an earlier age than Sascha did too.

In years to come , they could have a great rivalry.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 19:23

Benoit is wearing strange length socks. They are sort of mid-calf. And white. Never good , on red clay.

But it's probably fashion knowing the Beautifully Bearded Benoit.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 19:24

Poor Keith- the crowd is very, very partisan.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:02

I do actually love a partisan Parisian crowd though- loud, without being as obnoxious as a US/Aussie/British one would be.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:03

(as we saw yesterday, US fans are rude)

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:04

There cannot be much longer to this match.

Which will benefit Rafa, as this go over a day.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:07

Jo Konta's dog is cute.

Not as cute as mine .Her dog is one of those pointless little dogs. Grin

says the miniature schnauzer owner

He's big, for a mini. Honest.

Grin.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:24

oh, Bennt isn't happy.

But it is not the umpire's responsibility to make sure Benoit has enough racquets Hmm.

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:24

He needs to stop smashing them Grin.

kazzaD66 · 02/06/2019 20:41

What happened Raahh did he do a Goran and run out of racquets? Grin

Raahh · 02/06/2019 20:44

I'm not really sure, Kazza Grin. It seems he didn't take enough racquets with him, and then sent some to be re-stringed.

Numpty.

Grin I don't even think he threw any!
PrivateIsles · 02/06/2019 22:10

Stefanos just tweeted the quote that Stan has as his tattoo ("ever tried, ever failed..." etc) and says he's inspired by Stan. I think that's brilliant, and also made me a little bit emotional. I saw a clip of his press conference Raahh - he was devastated wasn't he? I am sure he will have many more opportunities, I really hope so, and that he can avoid injuries etc.

But the Bear rolls on!!

Raahh · 02/06/2019 22:21

Private he was clearly gutted , but also a gentleman, about it. . Must be so hard, to have to face the press. Serena take note

I do think he will have his day. But I did feel for him. Stan was in his late 20's before he won his first slam . I don't think- injuries permitting- it will be the same for Stef.

(I could be wrong though- Rafa/Fed/Djok migh stick stick around for years Grin)

JaneJeffer · 02/06/2019 22:38

Poor Stifado. I hope he won't let it get to him too much. He played so well. I had visitors drop in during the final set

JaneJeffer · 02/06/2019 22:39

But well done Stan. allez Bear

Fizzywinegum · 03/06/2019 07:08

Did you turn the visitors away Jane Grin

I managed to see the end of the match - the hug at the end was lovely. Haven’t seen the press conference but Stew must have been devastated Sad. Definitely rooting for Stan Bear against Roger.

PrivateIsles · 03/06/2019 09:26

Haha I hate it when people interrupt tennis viewing - even if they are lovely and well-meaning Grin and then I feel guilty.

Today looks good, Zverev v Fognini should be good (in theory). I haven't seen Foggy play so far this tournament but on paper it should be a close one.

Delpo v Khachanov could also be a bit of a battle.

OP posts:
Raahh · 03/06/2019 09:44

I agree, Sascha /Foggy should be good. Depends really on the mentality of either player! Should be the popcorn match Wink.

Eurosport are showing Benoit arguing with the umpire about his racquets . Grin.

I'm always very jealous of how effortlessly lovely Annabel looks. Envy even in what looks like a dodgy animal print Grin.

Boris appears to have been keeping out of the sun- or borrowing Stan's sun screen Grin, he doesn't look quite so pink Grin.
