Family drama that flashes forward into the future.

Maxim (who plays Viktor) was the little boy in Mr Beans holiday.

Can I say in a very sick way that the drone decapitation was both hysterically funny and en pointe at the same time?

Just caught up. I'm liking it a lot. The acting is brilliant and there are just enough "Oh my goodness" moments - maybe one or two more would be nice.

Google glasses just haven't taken off - failed. Chip implants are definitely on the way. This week's episode lacked the tension from before - hopefully it will pick up again.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 26/05/2019 18:00

I was surprised though that she had chip implants to make phone calls. Most younger people seem to text rather than call.

CaptainMyCaptain · 27/05/2019 09:37

Haven't read the whole thread yet as I only caught up with the programme last night. However:

Found it slightly unbelievable when the brother was telling them how much money he lost the sisters were so unsympathetic and telling him it's all his fault
It's because they were living in a high rise council flat and thought £85k was still a lot of money.

However, how much are housing officers paid in the future if they can afford an expensive car and £120 on petrol!
I think it was a subtle comment on the price of petrol.

CaptainMyCaptain · 27/05/2019 09:46

I thought it was so interesting the way the conversation went. The man essentially said ‘ you know fuck all about politics, trade, economics’ to which she said ‘I know, but think about the children and them seeing porn’ knowing that it is far more of a vote winner than policies that make sound fiscal sense.

Agreed. This is what makes it so scary because it's happening now.

Fell in love with the house..

Clawdy · 27/05/2019 20:09

That house is five minutes walk from where I live, always was surrounded by huge trees and tall walls. Now everyone round here is fascinated to see it at last!

TheZeppo · 28/05/2019 21:37

I think they’ve done a wonderful job creating a very believable family. The future stuff (including the ominous far-right elements) are fascinating, but the characterisation is what’s holding me.

Clawdy · 28/05/2019 22:05

The acting tonight was so good, especially the two brothers.

Isatis · 28/05/2019 23:27

Jessica Hynes should have been sacked for saying "nucular". It makes me cringe every time.

CoolCarrie · 28/05/2019 23:40

Love the house! I wonder how much it sold for?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 29/05/2019 04:00

It was being marketed at 1 and a half million.

JustDanceAddict · 29/05/2019 09:15

Lol Rage, in London that’d get you a 4-bed semi in a decent area.

StayAChild · 29/05/2019 09:26

That house!! The stories it could tell. It's absolutely stunning. It should be preserved by National Trust or similar. I hope it isn't turned into flats.

Isatis · 29/05/2019 09:36

To be fair, anyone planning on living in that house is going to have to spend a LOT of money on it. That probably accounts at least in part for the price.

Clawdy · 29/05/2019 09:58

Our local doctor and his family lived in it for many years. I think at one stage he ran the doctor's surgery there, just after the war. It does need a lot of work. Interesting to see what it becomes.

SapphireBattersea · 29/05/2019 17:07

Just watched last nights episode and I am confused

Like what was the activist sister doing at that office with her sisters little boy dressed as a girl ??

And why did they run over that bike? That courier wasn't the one that hit their dad and even if it was it was an accident

Was a bit disappointed with it tbh

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/05/2019 17:13

The activist sister seemed to get some information from the computer that led to the firm's downfall. She got in using a fake fingerprint passed to her by a woman passing by and dressed Lincoln as a girl because it was Take Your Daughter to Work day.

Running over the bike was just rage I think.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/05/2019 19:35

Did anyone think for a moment that Stephen was going to run down the courier?

SapphireBattersea · 29/05/2019 20:46

Yeah I did queen

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/05/2019 07:36

Interesting that both brothers hesitated and then voted Conservative. Disabled sister voted for Rook and activist sister spoilt her ballot. Sisters fairly predictable but I wonder why Conservative.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/05/2019 07:59

No, Stephen voted Labour and his wife voted Tory. Was surprised that Daniel voted the way he did, given that he was the more right-on of the brothers in the first episode.

BiBiBirdie · 30/05/2019 08:03

I love it, it's so well written. I think using actual political names helps with how real it feels
Viktor is gorgeous isn't he? He was in Hollyoaks, he played the original Liam Donovan (and was far better at it).
I've not seen ep 3 yet as I watch on iPlayer and DCs are on their half term.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/05/2019 08:32

Here’s Viktor when he was first on our screens as Caesarion in Rome, and now. Who’d have thought he’d grow up so beautiful?

No, Stephen voted Labour and his wife voted Tory. OK I'll take your word for that, I wouldn't be surprised by Celeste voting Tory but surprised by Daniel unless it was a tactical vote. I'd vote Tory if it was the only way of keeping a character like Rook out.
