Starts tonight 9pm
Family drama that flashes forward into the future.

OP posts:
RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/06/2019 22:43

It annoyed me when they herded all the Erstwhile prisoners into vans, even though most of them had monkey flu

Yes, us too.

MoobaaMoobaa · 18/06/2019 22:45

Rage
I said start a rant.
read back your post to me, and see how much you are lecturing and slightly patronising in it.
then move on.

I agree, I too was frustrated that that Celeste didn't put him right about Bethany.

growlingbear · 18/06/2019 22:47

There wouldn't be any need to teach English. You'd just speak into a machine and it would translate for you.

Phoningliz · 18/06/2019 22:48

It annoyed me that Celeste did not put him straight when he accused her of telling Bethany what he had done when it was in fact the other way round

No, I liked how her instinct was to protect her, even under that pressure.

cardibach · 18/06/2019 22:49

I think learning languages will be vital for a while yet, growling. I mean, they might develop some kind of simultaneous translation device eventually, but until then people will need to be able to just speak to each other.

daisyboocantoo · 18/06/2019 22:50

Me too @Phoningliz

Chosennone · 18/06/2019 22:56

I also loved Bethanys black pleated dress at the end (shallow😳) anyone know where it's from?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/06/2019 22:57

I'm not the one screaming for fuck's sake in capitals moo read back your post and move on.
Sadly, as I am an MFL teacher, I suspect growling is not wrong.
German university departments in the UK have been closing, some schools and sixth forms in the UK are not offering MFL at A-level because of lack of uptake.
Expats living in Europe who take citizenship or have dual citizenship will be teaching tefl. I doubt very much in 13 years time that Brits will be obtaining visas to do tefl in France/Germany/Spain or that those jobs/the amount of work you need to live on will be available.

SoupDragon · 18/06/2019 23:05

a shame the buffoon proclaimimg ignorance with the silly tie did not have bojo hair

If they had, they probably would have had to edit it out anyway given the current leadership contest and the BBC's "unbiased" position.

MoobaaMoobaa · 18/06/2019 23:06

ODFOD

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/06/2019 23:07

Probably soup
Review here (mentions possibility of a second series, I hope they leave it at one)

SoupDragon · 18/06/2019 23:08

I think Celeste not telling Stephen that Bethany had been the one to find out was spot on. She didn't want Bethany to have to bear that burden of guilt/hate from her father..

It annoyed me when they herded all the Erstwhile prisoners into vans, even though most of them had monkey flu

We didn't see what they did with them immediately afterwards though did we?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 18/06/2019 23:08

Hated that ending. I'd have preferred it if we'd discovered Edith had downloaded herself prior to the Erstwhile stuff, could have had the family all talking on señor like at the start of the series, with her chipping in.

SoupDragon · 18/06/2019 23:10

I'm not sure I'd want a second series either. It was just perfect as a one series thing and a warning of what our future could be. It was all so close to actual possibilities. I think a second series would ruin it.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 18/06/2019 23:10

Ooh no, we didn't. Dragon

PenisBeakerSmellbow · 18/06/2019 23:12

But I like that maybe it didn’t work (downloading consciousness). It was that last line of hope that humanity is so much more than technology can emulate and capture.

And Yy, Bethany looked so beautiful!

TheFirstOHN · 18/06/2019 23:13

As much as I enjoyed watching it, I think it would be a mistake to do a second season.

Janus · 18/06/2019 23:18

Amazing. I hate sci-fi normally but this seemed to make sense.
I thought Stephen being with the family at the end, including Viktor was that Stephen had forgiven Viktor for Daniel and Viktor had forgiven him for sending him to the camp. Neither will understand the circumstances but they had to put it behind them.
I also think Celeste would always protect her daughter and so not tell Stephen is was in fact her that told her about Viktor. It’s what a mother does.
I loved that Gran decided to make Celeste the fourth beneficiary of her will.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 18/06/2019 23:18

Steaming pile of cheesy horseshIt from beginning to the end.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 18/06/2019 23:19

There shouldn’t be another series.
The story has been told.

I loved how Bethany aged. She seemed so much older at the end.

Confuzzlediddled · 18/06/2019 23:19

DH walked into the room just at the point where they were saying the BBC had closed, he was very confused for a moment! 😂

LarryGreysonsDoor · 18/06/2019 23:19

Steaming pile of cheesy horseshIt from beginning to the end.

Then why bother watching all of it and why bother posting on a thread to say that?

Janus · 18/06/2019 23:20

Just what I was going to say Larry!!

TheFirstOHN · 18/06/2019 23:22

Steaming pile of cheesy horseshIt from beginning to the end.

More fool you, for spending six hours of your life watching something you weren't enjoying.

cardibach · 18/06/2019 23:22

I disagree with that review about Muriel’s rant, Rage. It was one of the best things in it!
