This Life loved that but can watch it :)

VelvetSpoon · 09/05/2019 00:01

Ultraviolet - they only made 1 series which is a travesty because it was great and Idris Elba was in it. I've yet to find anyone else who watched it.

As a kid I was obsessed with a series called either The Island or the Lost Island. It was about a group of kids shipwrecked on a desert island. I expect it has not stood the test of time well.

The old Play for Today. I wish they still did that. They are available on the BBC international service but not iPlayer which is just unfair.

ilovebronn · 09/05/2019 00:02

Recently re-watched Dynasty on CBS loved it but how sexist/homophobic!
Wow - midnight caller! Loved that programme and would be fab to see it again.
ER was on CBS but only 4 seasons I think?
Channel 5 had a proper cheesy soap Family Affairs that was my guilty pleasure back in the day! Think it ended in a massive boat explosion !

You can watch The Wonder Years here.

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 09/05/2019 00:23

I have all of Life On Mars and Ashes to Ashes on DVD but can't bring myself to watch them again. Now I 'know' what / who Gene was it just won't be the same. Was obsessed at the time though!

I would love to see the original Buddy's Song Kids tv show again, the one before 'the one and only' Chesney Hawkes film. I proper loved Roger Daltry in that!

MrsToddsShortcut · 09/05/2019 00:26

A Thursday night series from around 1983/84 called Johnny Jarvis about two school friends set over about 5 years after they leave school. It had Gary Shail from Metal Mickey in it as a rock star. It was utterly brilliant, as I remember.

I think it was followed by One Summer (another brilliant series).

Yes yes to The High Life "If you're feeling kind of tedious/and life is seriously mediocre/here's how to get the adrenaline going/take a trip upon a Boeing going uuuuuuup..." etc etc.

Utter genius.

Oh I loved Ultraviolet. Available for a tenner from Amazon and worth every penny.

fedup21 · 09/05/2019 07:49

Ultraviolet was brilliant. I liked Flash Forward as well-don’t get why that was axed!

Does anyone remember a program called Rita, Sue and Bob too?! Funny but very odd! I think the two women in it have been in quite a few things since (Goodnight Sweetheart?) but it just seemed to be about young girls shagging some old man in his car!?

Did anyone watch Queer as Folk? I absolutely loved that.

Some great ideas for shows to look out for on this thread!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/05/2019 09:26

That's a film, @fedup21. It gets shown from time to time, usually on C4. It was bloody odd!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/05/2019 09:27

Bold fail again! Blush

x2boys · 09/05/2019 09:30

Queer as folk is on demand on All4
