I might have just SQUEEEEED loudly at the TV.
Series 1 and 2 of Bodies (Jed Mercurio series with wall to wall super dishy cast inc Max Beesley) I adored it first time round and am rewatching ASAP

Like Casualty meets Line of Duty. Fabulous

ooh, excellent tip off OP, thanks!!

Violetroselily · 13/04/2019 15:50

I've just started watching this. Makes me never want to go to a hospital.

The sex scenes are very graphic arnt they

nocoolnamesleft · 13/04/2019 15:53

Ooohh.

How many times do I have to tell you? Not without a signature from your consultant?!

But...I am the consultant!

ChoudeBruxelles · 13/04/2019 15:55

Oh that’s my watching sorted for a bit after bingeing line of duty.

LittleChristmasMouse · 13/04/2019 15:58

This is just the best medical drama ever produced and certainly the most realistic (or certainly it was realistic from the 80s and 90s when I was nursing)

Giggorata · 13/04/2019 16:04

I have just finished binge watching this on Netflix, I think it was, and wondered why I missed it first time round... it's amazing, and my sister sister (she is a sister and my sister) confirms it,s realism...
BUT
I am so glad I wasn't pregnant when watching it.

Davros · 13/04/2019 16:05

Top hole! Thanks for the tip. Loved this first time round

Callistone · 13/04/2019 16:11

Just started this again. I LOVED it. I'd forgotten how unbelievably tense it was though - just waiting for the next fuck up.

Just seen the episode where Rob goes and gets Keith Allen to step in and save the operation. You should hate Allen's character but... He handles the situation so well.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/04/2019 16:14

Oh fantastic!!!

Why hasn't it been show again before now? It was SUCH a good series!

StoorieHoose · 13/04/2019 16:24

Binged this over the last couple of days. Missed it the first time around so pleased they have put it on iplayer

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/04/2019 22:22

Am on episode 4 already, I hardly breathe when I'm watching!!!

WarIsPeace · 13/04/2019 23:15

I'm on ep6 of series 2!Shock
I was newly qualified first time round watching this and with many years on the clock now it still hits home. It reminded me why I wanted to avoid a hospital birth when I was pregnant though

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/04/2019 23:18

Eeeeeek! Thanks so much OP. I regularly check if this is on but somehow missed this. Truly amazing television.

DameDiazepam honestly I think it hasn’t been shown that much as it was felt to show medical care in too poor a light (the same thing happened with Cardiac Arrest). That’s just my opinion though; I have no evidence to back that up.

SelkieRinnNaMara · 13/04/2019 23:20

I watched this pregnant. I had to stop. V good show.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/04/2019 00:30

Having had a very medical birth and also spending many weeks in hospital for non birth related illnesses, nothing really surprises me watching this.

I watched episode 5, I need to go to bed now or I'd have happily watched the rest!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/04/2019 00:31

Women had pubic hair back then tooWink

Flockingflamingo · 14/04/2019 00:36

I remember binge watching this when I was being diagnosed and treated for ovarian cancer. I never watched another Jed mercurio TV series until the bodyguard- 10 years later! I'm now rewatching Bodies and love how real it is - but do wonder what possessed me to watch it at that particular time!

Flockingflamingo · 14/04/2019 00:37

Ps it's based on a book which is also very good. It's not identical to the series so def worth reading if you get the chance.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/04/2019 00:40

I wondered about the book, thanks for the info.

There's no way I could watch this while pregnant or being treated ,omg what WERE you thinking?!Shock

Flockingflamingo · 14/04/2019 00:48

I really don't have a decent explanation - the worst bit is my sister gave me the box set and she's a flipping doctor! I think it was almost morbid fascination though, plus it really is brilliant. I think because I was so young (very early 20s) i didn't see any comparisons given most of the patients depicted are older 🤦‍♀️

I wish they'd done a third series.

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/04/2019 03:16

Yes the book is brilliant too. Different from the tv series as Flamingo says so well worth a read.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/04/2019 13:15

Finished episode 6,will do something productive then crack on with series 2 later!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/04/2019 15:03

OMG episode 1 of series 2 first 5 mins😱😱😱😱😱😱

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/04/2019 16:32

I'm laughing at how many times Rob asks people to go for a drink, episode 2 of series 2 and no one has accepted his offer yet. 😂

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/04/2019 18:39

Ha! Yes. Jed Mercurio’s writing in Bodies is brilliant in gritty realism except for this one part. As if nobody would ever go for a drink with him Grin! I guess it’s trying to show the culture of the unit but still... look at him! Plus he is nice.
