I might have just SQUEEEEED loudly at the TV.
Series 1 and 2 of Bodies (Jed Mercurio series with wall to wall super dishy cast inc Max Beesley) I adored it first time round and am rewatching ASAP

Like Casualty meets Line of Duty. Fabulous

Just watched the finale. I did have sympathy for Roger, he just seems so clueless.

And I missed why rob and polly broke up-does he just enjoy being a miserable bastard?

AnyFucker · 24/04/2019 19:40

Yeah, the injection of controlled drugs seemed so random

I think Rob and Polly just drifted together and didn't have much except the baby between them. And Rob was a complete dick at the birth

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/04/2019 17:19

I've watched both series over the last three days - gripping!

I looked online and there wasn't a third series, but apparently there is a one-off programme that rounds everything off. Unfortunately that isn't currently online . . . .the gits!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/04/2019 17:22

Re-watch it (I don't want to put spoilers on here). There is a reason - same reason that he's going for Roger's jugular.

And I don't have any sympathy for Roger Bumbler - he is "nice" and he is clueless - and he's killing people.

Purplemond · 25/04/2019 19:35

one off finale www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0074g5k/bodies-finale

Cheers, Purple

I know Polly would be fine on her own, but I sort of hope Tony stays in her life in some format. That last scene in S2 where he gives her the data when he’s being suspended was beautiful. I’m such a sap

Roger’s moral compass is certainly interesting. Patients die because of him - all fine but some people thinking he slept with his junior even though he didn’t - not ok at all.

makingtime · 26/04/2019 09:43

This passed me by first time round and thanks to this thread I've binge watched the whole thing over three days! Amazing TV. So tense, so brilliantly acted. Love Max Beesley in it. Was surprised by how graphic hot the sex scenes were - was it on in the middle of the night when it was originally on?!

As 😫 as I felt when it ended, I quite liked the fact nothing was quite tied up. I like the stories that leave you wondering when they end. Feel quite bereft now I've finished it, I wish they'd made more.

AnyFucker · 26/04/2019 11:47

It used to be on late, yes

Yourownpersonaljesus · 26/04/2019 12:49

Just watching This Morning on +1. Max Beesley is on soon if anyone's interested.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2019 13:04

Loves the greasy hair look, doesn't he?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2019 13:09

Oooooo he's drumming...

Yourownpersonaljesus · 26/04/2019 13:09

😂 Dame No mention of Bodies sadly.

JessMariano · 26/04/2019 13:24

Did anyone else love the woman in management who was just there for the biscuits? Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2019 13:29

YES!! 😂 She was head of nursing or something shockingly senior.

Herland · 26/04/2019 16:03

Just watched the finale. What a total manchild arsehole Rob was! Quite happy to let Roger continue to kill and maim but when he thought he had "hurt" him suddenly he's gunning for him again. Selfish prick.

I don't think he did have it. I think the look at the end is him thinking "Oh Shit! I've fucked up my relationship, my chance of being a good Dad, and potentially my career and I've only got a B12 deficiency!"

Which brings me to my next point -

How the hell did they jump to a differential diagnosis of CJD from, " insomnia, feeling of unease and a tremor" without first suggesting B12 deficiency, MS, even a tumour would be more likely. So weird.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2019 16:08

CJD was a big thing back then, they tested a member of my family for it while she was in hospital,we were stunned when they told us. They didn't have it.

The reason Ron was at risk was because of the scalpel injury from Hurley.

Quite happy to let Roger continue to kill and maim but when he thought he had "hurt" him suddenly he's gunning for him again. Selfish prick When did Rob think he'd hurt him,I can't remember?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/04/2019 16:12

I thought that too.

Of course, as the patient under the knife when Rob got cut was Sikh (largely vegetarian diet, if the Sikhs I've met are anything to go by), then the variant he had (and I think he did have it) was likely to be genetic - and he may have communicated it to his baby, so maybe that is what was upsetting him.

But as others have commented - morals/ethics were upside-down

Kill people though arrogant incompetence - OK
Possibly shagging SHO - not OK

Kill people through arrogant incompetence - OK
Cut fellow surgeon through carelessness - not OK

Herland · 26/04/2019 16:47

When did Rob think he'd hurt him,I can't remember?

Rob didn't want to get involved with Donna's expose. Then he discovered he might have CJD which might have been caused by Roger accidentally cutting him with a scalpel. Only THEN did he decide that Roger was a liability again.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2019 16:49

Of course he didn't want to get involved, look what happened before!

Herland · 26/04/2019 16:52

He had more support this time round and more ammunition and as a consultant was in a better position.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/04/2019 17:05

Yeah ,in theory but he knows what it's like so hardly blame him. It's Hurley and the system that can keep employing a shit surgeon that's to blame not Rob imo.

JessMariano · 26/04/2019 19:15

I did feel a bit for Roger when everyone was gossiping and Harriet threw him out - to be fair to him Maya was really going for him and in the end he didn’t even kiss her.

According to the Daily Mail Patrick Baladi’s father was gynaecologist to Colonel Gaddafi’s wife Shock

Also Max Beesley’s mother died of septicaemia as a result of medical negligence, so at first he didn’t want to do the role. Sad Flowers

TheweewitchRoz · 27/04/2019 16:03

Just watched the finale episode - wish they'd left it at the end of series 2 without that episode as I loved Rob until then and then he turned out to be a complete prick to Polly.

Also, 3 years were meant to have passed and yet Roger and his wife hadn't sorted things out properly and the photo of his kids on his desk were the same age as when he left and no word of his new baby (as his wife was pregnant when he told her about Maya in the first place).

Would have also liked to find out what happened to the anesthetist (sp?) who tried to blow the whistle in the first series as she was never referenced again.

Why would Tony's reference for Roger count against him with the GMC? Surely he could argue that he told the truth in his opinion? And if the new hospital weren't bothered by the police caution, why was the original hospital?

The constant chopping and changing of both Rob and Donna's mind re whistleblowing on Hurley was also very annoying!

None of this made sense to me and along with ruining Rob's character, the finale episode was very disappointing and annoying!

littlemeitslyn · 27/04/2019 17:17

Oooo thanks,am downloading as we speak 😁
