Channel 5 - Fred and Rose West

Just watching it - there's something really awful (besides the murders) about the way it's all reported by men. There was one guy who was very strange - the one talking about Fred West "breaking in" his 8 year old daughter. Is anyone watching it?

I see tonight's has been pulled at the last minute. Anyone know why?

RomanticFatigue I'm puzzled too. Trevor MacDonald's programme about them, ITV 9.00pm was scheduled but replaced.No idea why?

I was living in Gloucester at the time the Wests were discovered to have committed all their murders and I was friends with a police officer attached to the case. He'd told me some things I don't know were ever published (or even substantiated) and I wondered if after all this time they would be mentioned.

Dear god, that's sickening. Was he quoting how Fred West would have described it, or was it his own description?

I read a book about Rose and Fred West a few years ago and it gave me actual nightmares. I had to get the book out of the house it disturbed me so much, and I'm no stranger to dark stuff and true crime

Lotta same here I saw his police tapes. What struck me was the casual way he was referring to victims being buried.

So casual as if he was talking about family pets. The tone was genial and reasonable... 'I said to Rose, no that's not it, it were x buried there she was getting confused see...'.. It was unsettling...

@Lottapianos That was how Fred described it but there was something about the way the other guy talked about it that was so disgusting.

According to people on the true crime groups I’m in it got pulled as there was meant to be an interview from one of the women who managed to escape the house. Rose is having a parole hearing soon and is worried the show will hurt her chances of getting out.

Or someone perhaps pointed out the hypocrisy of being happy to watch this programme (one of many, on free tv) for prurient details about how the Wests abused and murdered minors while shrieking about Vincent Lambe’s obscure, festivals-only short film about the murder of James Bulger?

Does seem plausible that RW is behind it though. She’s deluded enough to think the doc would make the parole think badly of her.

But surely Rose West doesn't have the right or the might or the money to get a programme pulled? She's never going to get out anyway, nor should she.

Depends how the documentary leans doesn’t it. If it’s showing her as the mastermind it won’t look good on her. Not that she could ever look good!

What does that even mean?

He was a predator. He raped his very young daughter. He raped and raped and raped. Then he started to kill. And he bragged about it.

He was hardly an innocent who was led astray by his wife.

Yeah from all accounts he was a massive paedophile who showed no empathy to his children or victims. They were both as bad as each other imo.
