Channel 5 - Fred and Rose West

Just watching it - there's something really awful (besides the murders) about the way it's all reported by men. There was one guy who was very strange - the one talking about Fred West "breaking in" his 8 year old daughter. Is anyone watching it?

They were both as bad as each other. He was a coward to kill himself before the trial.

The guy that described ‘breaking in an 8 year old’ wasn’t Fred’s brother was it? Makes you think that whoever said it may be a paedophile too, Fred’s mother was said to have been abusing Fred, so if it was his brother that said this icky statement then it’s probably because there was a lot of abuse going on within the family and talk like this was acceptable. I’ve seen his brother talking before and he struck me as being not the full ticket.

Wasn’t his first ‘proper’ relationship with his mum?
Neither of them had a rosy upbringing from the sounds of it. I’m sure I heard somewhere Rose had that electric brain therapy thing when she was a child? Could be confusing it with someone else though.

I am sure they both were very aware just how wrong they were though. Am not making excuses for them.

Sausage, they both had the sickest, most depraved upbringing I imagine it's possible to have. The Rose West book i read was just stomach turning. I hope she is never released. Its just a real shame he's not still around to suffer the same fate

Incest was normal in Fred's family and in the Channel 5 film it was said that he believed (from experience) that the father "breaks in" any daughters.

God their childhoods were horrific, Rose was abused from her father and was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, from what I read then I think she actually enjoyed sex with her father.

Fred’s mum was said to have abused him, and Fred was apparently okay until he had a bang to the head which is when he changed.

You can see why they both got together.

Oh didn’t know that about the sister, I’ve read the book about him but don’t remember that bit, if this was the case then this will be because there was no boundaries within that family about sexual relationships, he would have thought it was normal to sleep with your sister, he wouldn’t have seen it as abuse.

I've been trying to find this on Channel 5 catch-up but it isn't there. I know that the ITV show was cancelled for legal reasons. Has it been cancelled from channel 5 catch-up too?

The sisters of one of their victims, Juanita Mott, said that they had heard Rose was engaged, and she hoped that when the fiancé got out it would break Rose’s heart, just as their hearts had been broken by the murder of their sister. Rose is never going to get out, she is like Hindley, except there is no delusional public figure trying to get her out, the public wouldn’t allow her to ever be free, and that’s how it should be, she is a vile, disgusting creature.

Which is why I can’t understand why the C5 program would be cancelled, a PP said it was because Roses appeal was coming up and the program may affect it, are her lawyers really telling her that there’s a chance she’ll get out?! and that some program is going to remind us of the evil she is, we don’t need reminding, we’ll never forget what went on at 25 Cromwell Street. I’d quite like to see an interview with Rose, I’m a bit morbid like that, just to see what utter crap she would spout about what happened, no doubt Fred would get all the blame.

I hope they put this back on soon! I was always under the impression that Fred had a very low IQ and was just keeping his wife happy and Rose was truly evil but I saw another documentary where the psychologist said he was certain Fred had killed before he met Rose.

Fred is believed to have killed and dismembered Anne McFall two years before he met Rose. His first wife Rena Costello and her daughter also disappeared and have never been found

OMG Sausage, just binge listened to that podcast! Shock what a very strange mix of sickening and hilarious ShockGrin I'm not sure it's accurately named because really there's A LOT of 'fillah' but the funny bits are very amusing indeed
