See, I’m watching You are my Destiny and am totally hooked and just want to know why??? How do they do this so well when it’s so cheesy & obvious but I’m still glued to it? Is it the writing? the male leads? The story? I’m watching on my laptop & on the tv simultaneously is Matthew Mcconaheywhatsit & Anne Hathaway getting very raunchy on a boat on Sky & I’m just thinking bleurgh at the sky film but Oooer the kdrama

I know Betty - it boggles my mind, as Destiny is also a bit cheesy and cheap, but its so damned addictive.

I think half the sexiness of kdrama is the restraint and not having sex. It makes you impatient to see them get it on. DH and I have a name/acronym for this: UST or unresolved sexual tension. Once you know they’ve sex or see the sex scene, it’s all over. cf Fox Mulder & Scully.

Ahhh! UST! takes me back to x files fan fiction days!! 🤣

Yy the UST is key but also the humour, I have been sniggering at the park run scene and the Lamaze bits they are very well done.
ML lead is cute with his man bun but phhwooor CJH!!!

Has to be said, this is a potboiler par excellence. I am reluctantly peeling myself off the sofa and retreating to bed.

And CJH’s outfits get better z& better. ML is much improved by a decent haircut too.

ML just referred to his assistant as a jiangshi, so I looked it up: “A jiangshi, also known as a Chinese "hopping" vampire, is a type of reanimated corpse in Chinese legends and folklore. "Jiangshi" is read goeng-si in Cantonese, cương thi in Vietnamese, gangshi in Korean, kyonshī in Japanese, and "hantu pocong" in Malay and Indonesia. It is typically depicted as a stiff corpse dressed in official garments from the Qing Dynasty, and it moves around by hopping, with its arms outstretched. No just started ep 13 but it’s bugging me since the first ep that he called Chairwoman Wang grandmother & gave her a present, and evil mistress knew who he was, and he said he’s been waiting to meet ML, so I wondered if he was another by-blow of the ML’s father
