They really should be on it forever more or in Jay’s case maybe there are exceptions as the age difference was small? I dm do t know what age Jay is supposed to be so maybe the age difference was bigger?

Surely Stacey would talk to Ruby and tell her his history or he would tell her himself. He is still local to the area so people could back him up so she would know he is telling the truth? I wonder if this happens in real life ie two teenagers and if it follows them all their lives?

I remember there being lots of posts about Jay and Star when that story was happening three years ago. He didn't sleep with her but he should have made an effort to find out how old she was at some point. Even after she sent him explicit pictures of herself (which is why he's on the sex offenders list) he didn't bother. He's one of my favourite characters but he deserved what he got.

South, Star lied to him at first. Led him on. However, I agree he shd have asked her age etc!
I think Ruby will get some kind of ' half story' from someone about the whole affair then dump him. He should just tell her himself but he probably wont.

Oh Jay love him, on his date with Ruby he was talking about having a snooze in a coffin! She was laughing, I think they're a great couple hope it works out.

I love the Jay character. He isn't the best actor in the world but he is sweet and funny and deserves a nice story of his own.

I think Jay was really stitched up in court. He should have asked how old she was before sleeping with her but he didn't sleep with her - they didn't get that far. She sent an unsolicited picture and he was done for having that. I didn't know it was illegal til then - same as the Bex/Shakil storyline which was good at putting that point across.

So Jay was convicted because star sent him a picture of herself that he didn’t ask for? So anyone underage could send someone an unsolicited picture of themselves and then immediately phone the police and say “X person has a nude photo of me” to get them in trouble?

There had been text messages between Jay & Star so I guess it could be seen as grooming her to send the photo.
I think the story was done really badly because he didn't sleep with her and she lied about how old she was. I'm guessing he was about 19 at the time and thought she was 16/17. 19 year olds don't routinely ask to see id before they get in to a relationship with someone

Yes there was a footballer convicted locally just recently for a similar crime although I think he had shared the photo and there wasn’t harassment involved too. But similar age situation and he said he didn’t know she was underage.
