Not many storylines apart from

Where is Alfie - tho do we care

Will Phil kill Alfie if he finds him

Will Phil kill shazza or keanu when he finds out about the affair. And he will find out

Will Kat run off with Alfie and cherry

Will Kathy ever come back

What’s wrong with raine

Will munter and MEL return?

And I say this every time but bobby new head must be coming back soon

I woke up thinking about EE this morning. The ridiculous and pointless story of Masood's relative taking Mick's jacket and setting off a fire alarm. Just why?

But more particularly I was thinking about Kat's reaction to one of them talking/chatting up Martin. It was early in the day. People were not drunk. Kat's reaction to the girl was 'Stop chatting up Martin or do you want me to come over there to you and give you one/show you what I'm capable of' type of thing.

What kind of pub are Linda and Mick running? In a normal pub someone as aggressive as Kat would be told to leave and if she didn't the police would be called.

We all know EE isn't based on realism and has a history of thuggery and morders that is so far removed from everyday life that its considered entertaining but last night got me wondering if IEE isnormalising bullying/aggressiveness.

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 13:45

Skipper; I've not seen it yet but I can imagine Karen's overreacting to this situation.
I agree that showing aggression as the only way of resolving conflicts isn't a good role model for people watching who may think this is normal behaviour in order to challenge anything they might not like. Normally they start off ok, but suddenly the voice raises and the shouting kicks off! I remember my brother mentioning this once ( and one of the reasons he doesn't watch any soaps)
When characters do talk things through properly and are rational it's a breath of fresh air!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/02/2019 14:11

What's with the flies ? Mentioned twice in the Vic.

Is there a body?

Dum Dum Duuuummm

SlipperOrchid · 22/02/2019 15:22

I think the flies was just lazy writing used to highlight that Kat (with her Β£40K) wasn’t doing her job properly. I do t u detstsnd the mugs/canisters - do people buy them and leave them in the bar to be washed and ready for the next time they come on? I take it only very tegulars can do this but how do they regulate the measurement? Can they be popped into the glass washer? Or must they be washed and dried by hand? Isn’t that a lot of extra work for the bartender?

youarenotkiddingme · 22/02/2019 15:40

Haribo made me laugh.
Maybe they are just trying to make up NN before we go now Wink

How about the new R and R become liquorice and Haribo?

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 15:51

I caught up today.
I thought that ; the writers thought let's get the nicknames in for the new characters before those pesky Mumsnetters do.

I think they might be alright ; making friends with the flaky Slater family may be a work of genius! Enemies close and all that..
Sharon was funny though ' the man I love' yeah, Phil, it isn't you !
Tiff looked unhappy at Bernie having a hit online. Sounds dodgy though.
Karen does upset so well.
What on earth is Rainie up to? All this doing dinner for the invisible Dot, then leaving it all to super Sonia to finish off.
I even felt a bit sorry for Hunter ; I'm going soft in my dotage.

Akire · 22/02/2019 17:38

Where was their 2/3y old been so long can’t remember his name! Surely fire alarm sounds at night you would grab your sleeping child from upstairs. Given anyone can walk upstairs at any time I would put door there years ago.

SlipperOrchid · 22/02/2019 17:50

Very true Akire! Then again as Ollie is invisible most of the time, I suppose he’d be hard to find to abduct! Who is supposed to be looking after him when the family are all in the bar. They always look surprised when somebody appears in their kitchen/living room β€˜What’s he doing here’ so obviously don’t hear anyone coming up the stairs. With Stuart living across the road with form for breaking in and creeping around, you would imagine they would have high security for that alone!

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 17:59

Nobody cares about baby Ollie ( he is 3 or 4now ?) I didn't think of him at all either poor kid.
How did the new girl know where the kitchen was etc? How come nobody saw her sneaking about? She's never been in the pub before either. It was rushed wasn't it?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/02/2019 19:08

Ollie is 4 in May. 8th May. The day before my mums bday. Hence I R.E.M.

So sept he will be at school all day and vanished

4 ? Gosh time flies eh?

Akire · 22/02/2019 20:14

ALways impressed at other people’s memories, I can’t remember their names. 4 is super big wonder if they will change heads soon.

nancy75 · 22/02/2019 20:46

Poor Bernie, I’m guessing this date is a wind up?

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 20:48

Probably Evil Evie and her red coat behind it all Nancy.

nancy75 · 22/02/2019 20:52

What happened to Mels house? I know munter has been arrested but that doesn’t mean her house would suddenly become as messy as a squat!

Akire · 22/02/2019 20:53

If half be tempted to think Max has run off with baby Abi for a new life and bye bye Raine but he’s just spent loads of unexplained money on the restaurant. Who knows.

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 20:55

I hope Max hasn't run off! I like his grumpy face about town.

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 20:57

Oh no! Mel's going to 'seduce' Ian isn't she? And he will fall for it I bet!

Akire · 22/02/2019 21:00

Wasn’t the club half worth about Β£250k how much a defence cost??

The80sweregreat · 22/02/2019 21:02

I actually feel queasy at the thought of Ian's smug face at the club with Mel , or even another wedding! I hope he tells her to do one but I bet he won't.

Akire · 22/02/2019 21:09

Have pay me More than 12k kiss Ian never met anything else!

secretsquirrelthethird · 22/02/2019 22:26

71k on that bank statement - would that be enough to shag Ian Beale? Not for me, and I am well skint! Grin

BreconBeBuggered · 22/02/2019 23:52

I would shag the late Dr Legg for Β£71k. I reckon Ian would at least be quick.

SlipperOrchid · 23/02/2019 00:03

Didn't Max take Jack to France to get him out of Mel's way? Of course taking a small baby along can only increase the fun they can have. Presumably Jack's brood have gone along for the trip too. Needless to say baby Abi, whose adoption was never celebrated so must not be through yet, had no issues leaving the country without a passport!

Mel's squat is indicative of her heavy drinking over the weekend? At least we can finally see that verbal contracts are actually not worth anything.

Evie is really going to have it in for Bernadette now though :(

Little Bailey is a wise little owl. Nice kid.

Any reason for Kim's extended holiday? Isn't Nigel only in Scotland? He could have made a return to Dr Legg's funeral too, considering he was practically adopted by Dot and would know how much he'd need her. Strange thinking of all the old characters like Nigel and Heather that they got rid of and replaced with really poor ones. I'm guessing the older sister is running from an arranged marriage or dropped out of college? It can't be too bad if after a weekend, they wondered if they might be better off going home!

SoupDragon · 23/02/2019 10:20

I've no idea what happened to Max - in recollection he simply vanishes with no explanation! I hadn't even twigged that Jack isn't there either.
