Anyone watching new series? Not sure the new vicar can replace James Norton!

Watched last night. It was rubbish! So disappointing.

Leonard is excellent. A really great character. But I fear for him if his sexuality comes out, he'll be ruined.
I am sad to see Sidney go, he had a great relationship with Geordie, but sometimes I didn't know what he was doing there.
He may not last long in the Deep South, though. An easy target.

I haven't really enjoyed the first couple of episodes as it's been a bit boring with Sidney getting drunk etc.

Sorry to see James Norton go but hopefully the show can be more about actual stories rather than focusing so much on one character.

I agree with you, Cornelia it's been too much about Sidney's torment and angst. I look forward to a new vicar and more focus on the crime.

Not sure how they are going to continue with the vicar/policeman solving crimes thing when JN is gone - it was improbable enough that Geordie would put up with one meddling vicar - surely he'll put his foot down if another one starts doing his job for him

Can understand Sidney falling for Violet though - she's gorgeous.

Sidney and Violet won't last long in the segregated USA. Folks got lynched for less.

I loved Amanda and I miss her! I thought she and Sidney had good chemistry, more than he and Violet do.

It is highly unrealistic that he would go to the Deep South and be OK/not put her in danger. I assume James N basically got a better gig and gave in his notice. I love Leonard and Mrs Housekeeper (mental blank about her name) but don't think he and Geordie can carry the show on their own.

I agree, I really disliked the route they took for such a wonderful vibrant fascinating character, such a flat ending

In the books that the series is based on, Sidney is happily married to a German girl he meets in the first book. He and Amanda have always had just a matey, fun relationship, and she is godmother to his first child! Very different.

I do hope he’s not the new Bond he’s far too wet.

Can't wait for him to go as the good looks do not make up for his inability to keep it in his pants and act like the man of God he is meant to be!

I think the german girl made an appearance in one of the earlier TV series.
I wonder what JN is off to do ? Not sure about Bond - he's definitely not wet though (as PP said - see Happy Valley). Maybe he was just getting a bit bored of being Sidney - character wasn;t really going anywhere - I thought at the end of the last series Sidney was going to give up the whole vicaring thing anyway?
