21 kids and counting

Just watching the latest episode - how on earth do they afford to run that household? iPhones for the kids, holidays to Spain for 20 people, a new kitchen.

There is no way a bakery would generate that much money. Would channel 4 really pay that well for their participation in the programme?

Yes myeyes. It’s very obvious.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 04/01/2019 13:41

Having a instant boiling hot tap in a kitchen where endless amounts of children are allowed to climb and sit on counter tops?

comebacksoonsusan · 04/01/2019 13:42

I started watching this but then I stopped and thought why, What would I learn?
Sue and Noel. Moronic as ever. Her pregnant AGAIN. Shots of that scuffy house and the kids' soulless bedrooms with the usual guff about the buying of a new pram and sniggerings about sex. Then some unrelaxing holiday with another weird breeding couple. They're beyond awful.

PrettyLovely1 · 04/01/2019 13:50

This isnt new news, I remember watching one of their shows before and seeing she was only 13, as well as the father locking the kids in their bedrooms at night. Confused
Its all over social media today about her only being 13, seeing some really disturbing comments like "it takes two to tango" Shock
Think its strange how people think its all so wonderful.

PollyFlinderz · 04/01/2019 13:54

One of the sons looks as if he’s been photoshopped into the pictures in the press.

BabyNameBook · 04/01/2019 13:56

@PollyFlinderz he is, he's the eldest and keeps away from all of the tv shows and press.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 04/01/2019 13:56

Is it the older one - Chris? He looks photoshopped in all 3 photos, very odd!

drowningincustard · 04/01/2019 13:57

I liked this family in the beginning of their TV career. But I've hated how they have developed and decided that their future is TV and more babies and the associated circus to protect that TV income and persona.
No longer fans in this house...

They have worked with Zanussi, BT, Apple, another internet provider, a 4x4 was a 'surprise' in the last show just to name a few. That Take a Peek scan place always gets full frontal signage in every show so there are probably perks there. She was also waxing lyrical about a bugaboo and iCandy prams in previous pregnancies. To be fair they disclosed the recent Zanussi deal but that was a first.

Why any brand would want to associate themselves with this family is a mystery to me, but given the tone of the Mail's piece earlier and the Twitter posts I wonder if those sorts of deals will start to dwindle. They've never hidden what age they both were when their first was born (and MN'ers have been talking about it for years), but in the post-#metoo age you'd think companies would want to distance themselves from any suggestion that they might support or minimise the exploitation/abuse of underage girls.

potatoscone · 04/01/2019 14:12

Ffs Ask a simple question. Does it tell you he's neglectful? Does it tell you he's violent? Does it tell you he doesn't have much time to spend with them? Why be an arse?

FFS yourself. I'm not being an arse. If you didn't pick up on, you didn't pick up on it. Any attempt at explaining it will be lost on you. Hence not wasting my time.

I'm watching now and at the bathroom bit, I don't see nothing wrong with how Noel told the kids to leave the bathroom as mentioned upthread.

I did notice tho that it was Millies birthday and the only cards to be seen are homemade ones from her siblings. I wonder if thats because there is too many Radfords that people stop giving.

mountainlakes · 04/01/2019 14:35

I just watched the house tour. Where is all the children's stuff? They don't have anything!

The sniggering about sex is common to the Duggar family too.

GobblersKnob · 04/01/2019 14:46

I thought that mountainlakes, I only have two and our small house is full of their stuff! They hardly seem to have anything.

Limer · 04/01/2019 14:53

Awful, awful parents and poor wretched kids. There are so many gaping chasms in the veneer of the happy-go-lucky family life they are trying (but failing) to portray. I suspect the arrival scene at the Spanish hotel gives a truer picture of what life with the Radfords is really like. Noel & Sue arguing over a crisis entirely of their own making, the older kids bored and bickering, the younger kids overtired and whinging. And the cake-making fiasco while they waited to welcome the new baby. I really feel sorry for Chloe.

And as well as every parenting failure already pointed out by PPs, there were no sheets on the beds in the pillow-fighting scene. The older kids were clearly parroting lines they'd been coached. Noel not even knowing any of the children's birthdays - you'd think he'd at least realise that if he wants a cushy media-driven future as father of the biggest family in the UK, he should know a bit more about the herd of cash cows he's so happily procreating.

shpoot · 04/01/2019 15:03

@MaHeidsGouping glad I'm not the only one!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 04/01/2019 15:04

Just in case the family is reading this... try giving them Weetabix or porridge for breakfast. Will keep them fuller for longer than chocolate sugary cereal, which might also contribute to their being a bit hyper

staydazzling · 04/01/2019 15:17

I don't think it's hyperness its boredom, I might go and nosey at the house tour.

KittensAndCake · 04/01/2019 15:42

Oh dear, have just watched this 🤭
The thing that struck me was the holiday - how the hell can they keep an eye on that many kids? I only have four (very close in age) and when they were younger, holidays were not in the least bit relaxing because of having to keep a constant eye on them all, to make sure no-one drowned 👀

I also noticed no sheets on the beds. But as long as she gets a new pram, she's happy. Poor kids 🙁

bluebellpillow · 04/01/2019 16:06

There was a definite change in Chloe's attitude and I wonder if she has just got so fed up with things.
I used to follow her on FB and you would have thought that the babies were hers as she was constantly doing night feeds, babysitting, gushing over them etc. The younger ones used to ask to sleep in with her at night (and they did). She was very devoted and could have easily been mistaken as their mum.

A few shows ago she was clearly anxious about the thought of Sue being pregnant. Chloe has sacrificed a lot for the family. I really hope she does become a make up artist and enjoys her life without the worry that she is going to be a full time carer to her siblings because her mum has died birthing the next baby.

Gingerkittykat · 04/01/2019 16:33

I watched an earlier show and it seemed to be Sue and not Noel who had the pathological need for more and more babies. She was adopted and talked constantly about the fear of being alone, pushing out yet another kid gives an extra year before they all leave home and leave her.

All of the commercial deals seem like a new thing. I follow them on Fb and been constantly bombarded by an ad for talk talk featuring them. Similarly loads of posts about companies giving them toys, baby goods etc. I think all of the holidays have been freebies from TV shows.

I've got to wonder how long all of the publicity will last, the format of Sue pushing out a new baby has gotten boring now.

I also don't think they will stop having babies until Sue can no longer physically conceive. I think the kids have a very limited life, which is sad.

bluebellpillow · 04/01/2019 16:47

There's no way this will be the last baby. They swore with the last one never again as Sue had found the pregnancy really difficult but she was pregnant again within months.

Sue has repeatedly talked about the amazing feeling of bringing a newborn home for the first time and meeting the family, it isn't just a case of loving children or wanting a big family, she has very specific things attached to having a baby (getting a new pram is another)
