21 kids and counting

Just watching the latest episode - how on earth do they afford to run that household? iPhones for the kids, holidays to Spain for 20 people, a new kitchen.

There is no way a bakery would generate that much money. Would channel 4 really pay that well for their participation in the programme?

I too have now watched the house tour. Tbh I think the bedrooms aren’t that dissimilar for bedrooms of other kids. They don’t have loads of books but aside from that it looks pretty similar.

They have an empty bedroom but have 2 in the tiny room, i assume because they want the smallest on same floor as them which seems sensible.

It’s all in better nick than the first series.

They seem to hang about watching tv a lot, but that’s not so unusual either.

I can't get worked up about the rooms either, less is more is the in look now. You wouldn't see many books in my teens bedroom either, they are under the bed in a storage tray thing (school stuff) and I encourage them to use kindle for reading as it is much cheaper and they don't re-read books.

Same for my teenage DS, even tho he has medals and trophies from a sport they aren't on display. Infact thinking about it his room has nothing out apart from his Ps4, a load of sweet wrappers and clothes dotted around the room.

On an unrelated note, one thing that struck me watching the program was how Sue and Noel both have classic signs of botox use! Neither of them seem to be able to frown (even though Noel has a crease) and have the typical lowered brow where the muscles have been relaxed.

I think the 3-year gap between Casper and Hallie wasn’t intentional. I remember watching the episode from that time and they’d had a year of unsuccessful TTCing followed by a first trimester miscarriage followed by losing Alfie.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 14/01/2019 21:49

I think it is unusual... where are all the toys?? I have two children and toys are everywhere.

KarenDarling · 14/01/2019 22:07

They've just got the baby a passport, I couldn't imagine having to ensure all 20+ passports were in date and together for travelling, Christ alive!

evaperonspoodle · 14/01/2019 22:19

They are off to Florida in February, they must be filming for another TV program.

MaHeidsGouping · 14/01/2019 22:25

Going thru immigration at Orlando must be a absolute nightmare with that many! Especially if the queues are long.

But I suppose with a brood that size everything would be a stressful nightmare.

Well when you have 20 kids you don’t have x20 the toys of 1 kid. I have 2 and the number of toys hasn’t doubled as things are shared, passed on or got rid of. A lot of their kids are teens so fewer big toys anyway.

There seemed to be a lot of toys in the living areas.

Sarahandduck18 · 17/01/2019 20:22

Yes there was a big crate of toddler toys in the living room. The older dcs have their screens.

evaperonspoodle · 17/01/2019 21:20

Maybe they are serious about not doing any more TV, a vlog came up on Youtube of Noel doing 'cheap recipes'. He is going to do one every week apparently.

sleeplessinsomewhere · 17/01/2019 22:23

Fair play to him. If people like their 'brand' that sounds like a good move.

Those banging on about the lack of books Ned to watch the Christmas episode........where it clearly shows the younger children opening books and focuses on one opening a stack of books about dinosaurs.

I'm no fan of the family but I find the mumsnet snobbery about books being on display bizarre. I'm an avid reader but probably have a maximum of 10 books in my house. That's because I use the library and a book trade shop where they buy them back at a reduced price.

My ds loves reading, but other than a couple.of well loved childhood books doesn't 'own many at all.

Agree @MyFriendGoo5 all on kindles here
