Anyone watching? Not quite the same without the songs!

Oh, I've caught up. It's pretty close to the book but they've tightened up the Marius/Cossette plot a bit. How many episodes altogether?

EnidButton · 21/01/2019 18:15

There's only two episodes left! 6 in total. They're going to have to really pack the story in. I feel like there's a good 4 episodes worth left at least. (Without giving anything away for anyone who's never seen/read it.)

Azelma · 21/01/2019 18:32

I agree that it feels as though it could have easily been an 8-part series.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/01/2019 09:18

I didn't realise it wasn't! Very surprised to learn there's only 6 episodes as that condenses the action a lot. War and Peace a few years ago only ran to 6 too and the book could've filled 26!

quirkychick · 22/01/2019 12:06

This has nearly caught up with where I'm reading. I might be a bit challenged to keep ahead of the plot!

LaBelleSauvage123 · 24/01/2019 10:55

I am loving the series but also can’t help myself blurting our lines from the songs at odd moments - try to keep it to a minimum though as DH hates it! Will use this thread instead. Last episode dealt with lots of bits that are cut in the musical, but I did ( in my head) croon ‘ Marius you’re no longer a child/ I do not doubt you mean it well/ But now there is a higher cause...’ etc when they were all in the bar.

MinesaPinot · 24/01/2019 13:08

LaBelleSauvage123 we keep doing the same thing! Trouble is DH keeps calling Cosette 'Courgette' and then promptly singing it 'My name is Marius Pontmercy/and mine's Courgette/Courgette I don't know what to say....'

desperatehousewife21 · 24/01/2019 15:58

I think they should have had Thernadier (sp?) saying ‘farewell Courgette’ when Val Jean took her away Grin

PiggyPlumPie · 24/01/2019 22:19

creamcheese just on the way home from seeing the musical in Edinburgh! My word, your Javert was good!

His final scene blew me away!

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/01/2019 23:08

They changed the way Javert's final scene was staged about 8 years ago and it's incredibly done now.

PiggyPlumPie · 25/01/2019 06:44

Last saw it in London four years ago and there were a few differences, all positive.

Still on a high - must dig out the soundtrack!

creamcheeseandlox · 25/01/2019 13:52

Piggy. Glad you enjoyed it he is rather spesh. I have know him since I was about 10. He's done loads in the west end and was resident director for school of rock.

I want to know how his last scene is done but can't ask questions for fear of spoilers for anyone who doesn't know the story.

PiggyPlumPie · 25/01/2019 14:02

I know, I was trying to word it without saying what it was! Will you get chance to see him or do you want a pm?

creamcheeseandlox · 25/01/2019 18:43

Piggy I've just sent you a reply. Wink

creamcheeseandlox · 25/01/2019 18:44

Sorry it was queen who messaged me. I've replied to you

EnidButton · 25/01/2019 22:46

I'm going to see the tour version so don't want to know anything either. Smile

EBearhug · 27/01/2019 20:04

The continuity announcer just said, "we'll be sparking joy on Sunday evening - later, it's Les Miserables!"

And I thought, I am really enjoying it, but I am not quite sure I would say it is joyful!

purpleme12 · 27/01/2019 20:11

Isn't it supposed to be ironic?

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 21:04

There...out on the darkness... a fugitive running...

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 21:06

Red! The blood of angry men!

Doobydoobydooyeh · 27/01/2019 21:13

Black! The colour of despair! (Think that's right!)

A heart fuuull of loooove...

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 21:17

I’m not warming to this Marius, he’s more of a Meh-rius. Never thought I’d say it but I preferred Eddie Redmayne’s version!

Doobydoobydooyeh · 27/01/2019 21:18

A heart full of you. The words are foolish it they're true. Cosette Cosette oh were we dreaming when we met. Who can say. Who can tell.

I agree. Marius is very wet.

Anyone just stood up and sang ‘lemarque is dead!’ ?
