Singing all the parts of One Day More by myself is my party piece that no-one will ever see I'm always impressed with myself afterwards. 😬 Haven't listened to E.P in ages, must catch up!

I'm watching it later tonight or tomorrow. Hope it's a good one.

EnidButton · 20/01/2019 21:13

But she has such a lovely gentle laugh Dooby...

Doobydoobydooyeh · 20/01/2019 21:15

I have played the Les Miserables soundtrack quite a lot recently

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/01/2019 21:34

@EnidButton I thought I was the only person who did that! Grin

Doobydoobydooyeh · 20/01/2019 21:34

It is wonderful. Who's watching tonight? Cosette seems a lot younger than Marius.

It's quite a boring episode tonight.

Boring ?!I think it's riveting. All the cast are excellent.Especially Dominic West.

TheSassyAssassin · 20/01/2019 22:06

As I don't know the story, am assuming this episode was a bit of a filling in various bits of the story / setting it up as it gets to the end. Is there still two to go?

Doobydoobydooyeh · 20/01/2019 22:07

The Cosette and Marius stuff was dull. But I had paused it and was about 15 minutes behind. It got more exciting!

Sassyassassin there is loads more to cram in the last 2 episodes

Thanks Dooby, sounds like the last two episodes will be fairly action packed then!

Doobydoobydooyeh · 20/01/2019 22:23

They will be. I think it's been brilliant. Not quite sure how they are going to fit the rest of it into 2 episodes

Not quite sure what I thought about this episode. Don't really like the way they have portrayed Eponine. Yes, she is "sweet" on Marius, but I don't like the way she was introduced by doing a peep-hole dance for him Hmm.

And although I realised it was a dream-sequence pretty much immediately, I was wondering - has it just jumped the shark when Cosette "appeared" in Marius's bedroom.

But the scene with Thenadier, Valjean, Javert and Marius was brilliant.

IamPickleRick · 20/01/2019 23:36

Cosette is pissing me off.

5foot5 · 20/01/2019 23:41

Oh that bit in the Luxembourg Gardens where Cosette dances around on the bandstand - I've played in a concert on that bandstand. Smile

xsquared · 20/01/2019 23:57

Cosette doesn't really do anything, other than look pretty and be rescued, does she?

Marius is insipid.

Lovingbenidorm · 21/01/2019 00:00

I’m loving this!
Agree it’s hard to keep the songs out of you head though!
When Fontine was croaking “I dreamed a dream my life would beeeeeeeee! “ “Tell Cosette I’ll see her when I waaaaaaaake, (croak)”
Olivia Colman is fabulous! “Master of the ‘ouse”
I think it’s beautifully cast and very well produced.
Loving Sunday nights, bit of CTMW then Les Mis !

Grin Queen

Have only watched half so far so can't comment on tonight's ep much except to say the actor playing Cosette is stunning (that velvet dress! ❤️) and I swear half the dialogue during the second meeting in the pub was lifted straight from the musical lyrics. Jean Valjean's mutton chops were surprisingly attractive. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say.

iogo · 21/01/2019 03:10

My mum and I loved Les Mis and the last thing she watched before she passed away was the 25th Anniversary show. I watch it every 21st Jan.

My children are watching this adaptation with me and loving it/really appreciating the dramatization. My son tonight said "the only thing wrong with this is I have to wait a week to watch it again."

I wish my mum could see this. She'd love it. Normally I watch on the 21st on my own so I can sob away in peace. This year I think I'll let the kids join me.

Azelma · 21/01/2019 08:21

Sorry to hear about your mum, iogo. What a lovely thing to do, watching the anniversary show Flowers

Azelma · 21/01/2019 08:25

Cosette is a bit wet, but she is like that because Valjean is doing exactly what he promised Fantine he'd do - rescue Cosette and keep her safe.

In fact, I thought that the Cosette in this is showing quite a lot of fiestiness by wanting to see the world outside the convent and arguing with Valjean that it's not enough and the new house is still like a prison.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/01/2019 09:07

So how many fans of the musical are doing this??
