Anyone watching.

It's very interesting and scary.

I'm watching
I lived in Asia for many years and knew a lot of people who had also lived in the UAE.
I would never be able to live there.

SoleBizzz · 06/12/2018 21:36

Well the treatment of Women in Dubai is unsurprising as i have read a bit about it but the Kings Daughter feeling trapped with all that opportunity and still yearning for freedom just goes to show that no matter what we have we all need to be free!
The treatment of her elder Sister is just heart breaking.

Her Finnish friend. If i was her I'd be terrified of retribution.

SoleBizzz · 06/12/2018 21:38

What can the UK Police do to help? Very little if anything at all.. and claiming political asylum in Oman what difference does tjat make to her security as her Sister has already been kidnapped from a UK street?

SouthWestmom · 06/12/2018 21:41

Yes I suspect her friend is going public to protect herself.

SoleBizzz · 06/12/2018 21:45

Shat sort of monster is the King to have his Daughters tortured, drugged and imprisoned?

SoleBizzz · 06/12/2018 21:45

What*

weasle · 06/12/2018 21:47

Wow this is awful.
I knew UAE had awful human rights but the ruler's own daughter!
She seems such a confident, brave woman in the video and messages. But terrified of her father. Obviously with good reason. So sad. I hope, very optimistically, she is ok.

SouthWestmom · 06/12/2018 21:48

Yes her account seems credible .

What has happened ? Retribution gone wrong? Wouldn't have been flagged without JK and Matthew (phd student)?

IHaveBrilloHair · 06/12/2018 21:50

What channel?

SouthWestmom · 06/12/2018 21:51

This is jaw dropping. His own flesh and blood. What hope for anyone else there.
How shameful for him.

She wrote my father treats women as sub human.

Utter animals.

And yet we welcome him to the UK, to ascot to hob nob here. If anyone had any decency at ascot they would all turn their backs on him and not bet on his horses. It's disgraceful. Those poor girls.

SouthWestmom · 06/12/2018 21:55

Yeah him and his son. Frightening.

OP posts:
chickensaresafehere · 07/12/2018 11:15

Why do people want to go there?!
Hideous country,shocking human rights.
Her story is heartbreaking. Women are the lowest of the low.
It just makes me very sad & angry.
Pil have just been on a holiday there & I have zero interest in their holiday stories Angry

RatRolyPoly · 07/12/2018 11:28

It was gripping!

I have to say though, I did start to think that by the end her French friend (Herve?) might have been complicit in handing her over. I mean what sort of expert in escape fails to tell someone to not bring their mobile phone with them when trying to escape from a country where you can be tracked by your mobile phone? Or did he just not know that, despite it being seeming really common knowledge? And to be surprised that the Indian government are actually pretty tightly allied to the UAE government; did he not research this? And then to be released after his capture?

I mean he was either incompetent and subsequently very lucky... or not.

Utterly heartbreaking for the poor woman and her sister.

SouthWestmom · 07/12/2018 11:48

Rat 😲**

That would be appalling if true. I did think that - why not get a burner phone. Should have read his Jack Reacher.

I found this really upsetting to watch

According to Wikipedia, he has 23 children and 3 daughters all called Latifa Shock

PeteThePirate · 07/12/2018 12:42

I got the impression that they were all completely naive to think they could get away with it. Especially Herve, he was too much of an old school spy.

Real eye opener as to how oppressive it is. Hadn't realised at all Blush

SouthWestmom · 07/12/2018 15:42

Where is she though? Surely she can't be dead?

OP posts:
BlueUggs · 07/12/2018 15:47

Why can't she be dead?

PierreBezukov · 07/12/2018 15:49

She is most likely dead.

A horrible, brutal, evil and extremely misogynistic regime.

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2018 15:56

Oh goodness, I have this on my planner, going to watch it later

SouthWestmom · 07/12/2018 15:59

Because it's just so shocking.

I mean I realise she could be, just the outrageousness of a visible country just doing it. To the ruler's daughter. Just, wow.

OP posts:
Inkanta · 07/12/2018 16:27

Wow very disturbing Angry Glad it's out in the open. Hope at least this triggers some international pressure on the father (the ruler), on his criminal and brutal treatment of his daughters.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 07/12/2018 16:32

And yet we welcome him to the UK, to ascot to hob nob here. If anyone had any decency at ascot they would all turn their backs on him and not bet on his horses. It's disgraceful.

Agree. The images of the Queen greeting him and everyone showing him such obsequious deference... goes to show what we value in society: social position and money. Backed up by good old violence Sad

chumbal · 07/12/2018 16:33

I found it very upsetting & suspect she is being held like her sister was after she fled while in the UK.

He has so many children who appear to be like trophies and yet all the world leaders pander to them due to their oil stocks Angry
