Sorry to butt in but does anyone know if the final will be on the 15th or the 21st?! Trying to plan a get together!

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 28/10/2018 08:06

Joe, Chelsey or Danny will win

Chelsey?

Hepzibar · 28/10/2018 08:09

I know that Día de los Muertos is fashionable at the moment but it’s not the same as Hallowe’en - and why a calypso song?!

it's in Beetlejuice

SassyTheVampireSlayer · 28/10/2018 08:09

zolaaa not sure it's set yet? But going on previous years it's likely it will be the 15th.

TheDrsDocMartens · 28/10/2018 08:17

The song in the opening number is in Beetlejuice. Think that was the Halloween link. But I don’t think many people would get that.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/10/2018 08:18

64ChewsBrains another Shirl fan here. I’ve watched from the beginning and the judges are a huge part of the programme’s success. They haven’t always got it right - Alesha Dixon was a dark time - but I like what Shirl brings to the panel. Len was fab but he got very grumpy towards the end so bowed out at the right time.

Craig was quite vile to begin with, he cannily decided that people would either love or hate his pantomime villain but they would certainly remember him, and it worked. He has softened noticeably in the last few years.

ThanksItHasPockets · 28/10/2018 08:19

I know it’s in Beetlejuice, and a Beetlejuice number would have made sense. It made no sense with the Día de los Muertos theme. I think someone misunderstood the lyrics and thought it was señora rather than Senora.

Just delurking to post the important dates for your delectation!

I like Shirley but I seem to be in a minority.

I like her too, her delight when she sees a tiny detail about the feet makes me smile!

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 28/10/2018 09:09

I used to like Darcy, now find her nearly as irritating as Shirley B. And Bruno's comments are becoming more waspishly nasty each week. We need new judges.

Darcey is a total WITCH!

Bruno is always off his tits on something or other and has become a parody of himself.

Shirley can't put aside personal likes and dislikes to score fairly.

Craig is the only one worth listening to most weeks, but I feel that even he is getting exasperated with his fellow judges.

Makes you realise what a good judge Len was.

I think that the judges are manoeuvring Snean into the Danger Zone - and have marked down a few good dancers who don't have much public support, so that with a bit of luck Snean will be in the dance-off, and will be against Charles, or Lauren, or Kate* and they can justifiably tell him to piss off save his opponent.

If he's up against Ranj, Snean will stay in because the Good Doctor was beyond appalling! (However, he has a huge fan base, so may be safe.)

*all danced better than they were given credit for this week - Lauren in particular was much better with a proper, gentle dance that didn't involve single-arm handstands, and similar shite.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 28/10/2018 09:17

WORST COSTUME, FUZZY?

Dr Ranj.

Or possibly Dr Ranj.

Though Dr Ranj's was pretty bad, too.

And so was Dr Ranj's, now I come to think about it.

One of those, anyway. Halloween Grin

Orchiddingme · 28/10/2018 09:18

Just watched on Catch Up. Charles was really undermarked, he's better than Joe IMO, although I do like Joe and think he has a really good attitude to learning new things. Faye brilliant to watch. Most of it quite painful tonight, I felt. Costumes like Dr Ranj just shouldn't be allowed, it's not funny even!

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 28/10/2018 09:30

Craig was on the Chris Evans show on Friday saying he really missed Len.

SerenDippitty · 28/10/2018 09:33

I didn't like Ashley and Pasha's Charleston. I've watched it back a few times on YouTube and I can see that it's technically excellent but I just don't like it, I didn't enjoy watching it and found it a bit muddled and annoying. I don't know why, perhaps it was a combination of really hating the costumes, the music, the set and Pasha's huge belly.

Ashley and Pasha’s Charleston left me a bit cold too technically excellent though it was. A Charleston is supposed to bring a smile to your face, that one was a bit clinical and soulless to me.

SerenDippitty · 28/10/2018 09:34

Oh and Ranj was really handicapped by his costume. Shouldn’t be allowed.....

zolaaa · 28/10/2018 09:40

Thanks zinc! That’s perfect as have my work Christmas do the night before the final, so can watch it with a hangover and takeaway!

placemats · 28/10/2018 09:43

De-lurking. I think Ranj was awful, but will get enough votes to stay in because his costume was so bloody awful. I loved Stacey and Kevin's dance - so original.

Faye was superb as usual.

I thought the remarks from Craig were a bit harsh regarding Seann, but he's a judge who is famed for his acerbic valuations.

Hard to tell who will be in the dance off. It was a show of two halves last night. Great and poor.

Miscible · 28/10/2018 09:48

Craig was the only want to vote them off last week. He's not happy with the cheating and wants them gone. Good for him.

No, not good for him. His job is to judge the dancing, nothing else.

SassyTheVampireSlayer · 28/10/2018 09:53

Agree with your costume choice Schady, it really was ...a....thing...wasn't it? Halloween Wink

digerd · 28/10/2018 09:54

I love Grouchy puppy the most. He has the cute and cuddlesome factor which far exceeds all other contestants and profi dancers.

Judges were right about Charles foot and I noticed it too in his kicks and flicks. Other male contestants have had this problem too.
Danny is so skilled but very much a theatrical/ballet trained dancer than a ballroom one

Faye and Ashley are the 2 top dancers despite never having trained as a ballroom dancer, like Darcy, ballet training helps enormously except for break dancing which is the complete opposite style.

The cricketer is having the best journey. Ranj is kind of cute but that costume he was given didn't give his dancing any chance of success, but think his fan base will keep him in.

derxa · 28/10/2018 09:58

No, not good for him. His job is to judge the dancing, nothing else. I watch all sorts of daytime shite. He's promoting his third autobiography Confused

Miscible · 28/10/2018 10:15

Craig can do what he likes when he's not judging on Strictly. When he is, he should mark according to what he sees, not his personal opinions on the participants' morality.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/10/2018 10:18

I've just read the 'Strictly curse' has struck again and Joe and Diane have been smooching it up because she split up with her partner, there seems to be a lot of backstage kissing this year if this is true.

derxa · 28/10/2018 10:21

Craig can do what he likes when he's not judging on Strictly. When he is, he should mark according to what he sees, not his personal opinions on the participants' morality. I think he said the onus was on Katya to behave better seeing as she was in a teacher pupil situation. It's all a bit laughable.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 28/10/2018 10:38

Agree with your costume choice Schady, it really was ...a....thing...wasn't it?

Yes Sassy . . . . yes . . . . it . . . . was, wasn't it? A thing . . . . definitely. Definitely a . . . thing . . .
