Have seen Craig doing the rounds promoting his book and the ‘teacher - pupil’ comments did make me wonder what he would feel about a ‘judge - contestant’ thing after the rumours of a ONS last year. Eh Craig?

Halloween Grin @Schady

Ashley is very good, but she's a professional dancer - the PussyCat dolls were a dance troupe before they become a pop group. I hope she doesn't win.

This series is looking too predictable. Ranj, Lauren, Sean, Kate, Graeme, and Charles will all go in the next month, I can't see any of them rising up and improving to be a winner. The final will probably be Ashley, Faye, Stacey and Joe. I expect Danny may last to the semi final.

dontcallmelen · 28/10/2018 11:22

Just checking in, my house likes to be a internet free zone at the most inconvenient of times, usually during strictly 😢

kazzaD66 · 28/10/2018 11:31

I didn't enjoy it so much last night, apart from Faye. The costumes and hair and make up were mostly fantastic but I thought they and the Halloween characterisation completely took over the dances to the point that almost all the dances were ruined. It used to be that costume etc and characterisation added a bit more to the dance, but it was still the dance that was the main and most important part. Now I'm not so sure Hmm

dontcallmelen · 28/10/2018 11:35

Yy comments re Ashley & the Charleston, very good technically but just seemed sterile, Faye was also extremely good but you can really tell with both her & Ashley that they have had a lot of dance experience & training, if I was to put any money on a winner I think it will be Stacey.
Dear lord Dr Ranj costume was the stuff of nightmares, still love Swanny & do think Charles was under-marked.

I agree. The new move to put everyone in clumpy shoes, even the professional dancers, to get them 'into character' is producing some pretty bad visuals all around.

I liked the showdance last night for the first time in ages. My dd said to me last week (when they were doing some sports related number)- why are the women all in crop tops and the men wearing jumpers? The week before the women were dressed like Beyonce's backing dancers and kept flinging their hair back in a presumably sexual manner like an 1980's pop video. It's really tired and quite sexist, and I never felt like that before, I've always loved the sparkle/lovely costumes of the women and I'm not averse to a bit of flesh, but it's started to look like an unreconstructed 1970's Sat night with the big hair, grinning women and over-sexy outfits.

Agree totally, it's starting to look like a bit of a predictable series really. I don't have a favourite, either.

TheDrsDocMartens · 28/10/2018 12:24

I’m finding Darcy more annoying than usual this season. ‘Goodness’ is a massively over used word and it’s grating on me now.

Bruno I’ve never liked much but he needs to go ASAP. Even Carlton ( can’t remember his name) last week was better.

TheDrsDocMartens · 28/10/2018 12:25

But no replacing them with Anton. I can’t stand the thought of his jokes every week 😭

PurpleOctober · 28/10/2018 12:29

I think Stacey will win, and I suspect that's what the BBC wants. They need another winner willing to be the 'face of Strictly', and she's a young, likeable BBC journalist. They've given her memorable themed dances (Minions and Doctor Who), and she's not a ringer like Faye and Ashley - she's on the 'Strictly journey'.

PurpleOctober · 28/10/2018 12:33

I'm not a fan of his, but I have to say I felt a bit sorry for Ranj last night. He looked crushed and it must have been hard to dance in that costume.

I also feel bad for Kate - she did a terrific tango early on, creating high expectations, and hasn't mached it since. I'll be amazed if she makes Blackpool at this rate.

FuzzyCustard · 28/10/2018 12:38

WORST COSTUME, FUZZY?

Dr Ranj.

Or possibly Dr Ranj.

Though Dr Ranj's was pretty bad, too.

And so was Dr Ranj's, now I come to think about it.

One of those, anyway.

Ha ha...thanks schady. Dr Ranj then!

Samcro · 28/10/2018 12:39

i felt sorry for Ranj, didn't the same thing happen to the JLS bloke. dressed in stupid costume and went out?
i think joe or Stacey will win.

FuzzyCustard · 28/10/2018 12:43

Happily today's performance (for me) is a matinee, so I shall be back in time for the results show. I shall be keeping a special eye out for Dr Ranj's dreadful costume. (Kind of hoping it is so bad it gets a show of its own soon)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/10/2018 12:49

wotcha lurkers! Don't by shy, stick around!
Her from the costume department was raving about Dr Ranj's costume on last week's ITT. She and Zoe were inordinately excited about it. Imagine my disappointment when what emerged was essentially a car wash roller. I imagine the poor sod who has to carry that to the nearest bonfire back to wardrobe will be doing so at arm's length.

DEFINITELY this week's worst costume, and you know my theory on that...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/10/2018 12:54

I hope GrouchyPuppy has recovered from the assault on her doggy ears from last night's singing. I'm glad to hear she's not afraid to protest - as well she might!

ElspethFlashman · 28/10/2018 12:56

Poor Ranj was made to wear these full length blue satin opera gloves too. I mean, as if being rolled in a smelly carpet wasn't bad enough.

Miscible · 28/10/2018 13:16

If Ranj is/was in the dance-off, I hope they let him ditch the shoes.

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 28/10/2018 13:25

Poor Dr Ranj's costume looked like a harassed mum had been told the night before the school play that junior had to dress as Sully from Monster's Inc. and dye what she could from a bath mat, gran's old faux fur coat and some glitter.

Car wash roller Grin brill

stella47 · 28/10/2018 14:10

On ITT Fri Sean(n) was asked if he liked Halloween and said no, course not, he's 32 (not getting into the Strictly spirit here Seannn!)
So Seannn is only 5 yrs older than Joe? and 7 yrs YOUNGER than Graeme??

PumpkinSpiceAmericanoNoSugar · 28/10/2018 14:10

PMSL at 'car wash roller', that's exactly what it looked like. Poor Ranj it made him look really hefty, and not at all light and nimble like you should be in a jive.
