New thread for later xx

OP posts:

I dislike Shirley even more now. That sickly artificial smile.....does anyone really like her?

SoupDragon · 22/10/2018 14:43

I don't think Vick was the better dancer in the DO. She did make improvements but I don't think there was much to choose between the pairs and she was the lowest scorer. It seems a bit off to be whinging about it.

SoupDragon · 22/10/2018 14:44

I don't dislike Shirley.

xsquared · 22/10/2018 14:47

It is disappointing that Vick went bit there isn’t much room for argument given, she was at the bottom of the leaderboard. I really think she had potential but the routine did nothing for her.

Mummyundecided · 22/10/2018 15:00

Vick was impeded by the speed of the music and the choreography. I think she danced better than Seann, but it wasn’t a recognisable cha cha cha. Sean wasn’t great either, but at least it was a QS.
More Katya vs Graziano really.

kazzaD66 · 22/10/2018 15:03

kurri if you also take a slurp of vino every time Darcey says "oh my gosh!", you can get pickled twice as quick Grin

lynsey91 · 22/10/2018 15:05

I don't dislike Shirley either. Also all the fuss about Vick going just makes me laugh. She was bottom of the leader board so pretty obvious the judges thought she was the worst dancer on the night

Inkanta · 22/10/2018 15:13

When they hired the young lad - Graziano the producers' must have realized pretty early on that he wasn't a choreographer/ The natural dancer and potential in Vick must also have been noted.

Having made the mistake hiring him why didn't they get him some help with the choreography. It wasn't very fair to her. But then fairness doesn't seem to be the purpose of SCD.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 22/10/2018 15:30

Wasn’t Vick a favourite at the start? Or is that my imagination?

xsquared · 22/10/2018 15:38

I think she was, Ipromise, and I thought I’d read somewhere that she did contemporary dance, as an extracurricular activity, at uni.

Clawdy · 22/10/2018 15:54

She was doomed from the start as Shirley B took an instant dislike to her.

DarlingNikita · 22/10/2018 16:26

I think Vick improved in the dance-off, and Seann looked worse! But what do I know.

I do think Vick had more potential than Seann does, though, although I know the judges are only meant to judge on that one dance.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 22/10/2018 16:27

Yes you’re right Clawdy

Volant · 22/10/2018 16:48

Having made the mistake hiring him why didn't they get him some help with the choreography. It wasn't very fair to her. But then fairness doesn't seem to be the purpose of SCD

The trouble is that giving help with choreography then becomes unfair to all the other dancers.

SoupDragon · 22/10/2018 17:09

She was doomed from the start as Shirley B took an instant dislike to her.

And she wasn't terribly good. That didn't help.

SoupDragon · 22/10/2018 17:22

My impression was that Vick wasn't very good in the first week/two weeks but I can't find comments like that on the old threads. Odd.

PumpkinSpiceAmericanoNoSugar · 22/10/2018 17:37

Vick did a pretty ropey jive in the first week and then a rather lovely (if low content) waltz in the second week. So it was a mixed bag at the start.

Inkanta · 22/10/2018 17:40

In week 2 Vick danced what I thought was a beautiful waltz. That's when I saw natural potential. I thought she had something special. Shirley though was critical and quite harsh I thought.

SoupDragon · 22/10/2018 17:44

I think I was remembering the jive. I knew she'd done a better dance after a crap one but she still wasn't a front runner in my opinion but one of the "mid table" contestants who would get picked off. I don't think there's any favouritism or shady voting going on.

OzzyMadBat · 22/10/2018 17:44

@Eleanor Not sure the word vindictive was used but yes bullying was alleged: the press carried two stories (one mentioning an altercation which he denied/the other a propos of nothing mentioning him dancing in a gay bar) but obv nothing more than that as it was a case of he said/he said and they didn't want to be accused of outing I guess (bearing in mind he could be bi/gay or just experimenting: Someone else claimed similar so perhaps driven by internalised homophobia/fear of it coming out re career repercussions/wanting to protect his privacy....which is understandable, but still no excuse to intimidate others. If said incident occurred of course.

SoupDragon · 22/10/2018 17:46

There were bits that looked good in this weeks dance insofar as she can clearly move, but I have to accept what the judges say about whether it looks like it's meant to as I have no idea!

The same complaints come up every year about different contestants really.

NoLogicInThis · 22/10/2018 17:57

Who has a Joe been accused of bullying?

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 22/10/2018 18:08

It's not Joe Sugg that's been accused of bullying. It was last year's winner Joe McFadden.

NoLogicInThis · 22/10/2018 18:12

Oh right, who did a Joe McFadden get accused of bullying?
I miss all this, how do people get all this info?

SerenDippitty · 22/10/2018 18:12

However, speaking of Joe - lordy do Tess and Claudia baby him! Yes, he's young. But my word they talk to him like he's a precocious 10 year old. Really patronising stuff - I thought I caught a flicker of annoyance cross his face yesterday when yet again he was spoken to like a fluffy kitten. He'll never pull off a more serious dance if they build up an "aww, ain't he cute?!" persona around him.

I thought Tess’s remark about Joe’s tiny little bottom was really inappropriate.
