I like her in both

0hCrepe · 22/09/2018 07:28

Absolutely loved this, finished watching last night. So glad to hear of a second 2nd series!!
Jodie was also in my mad fat diary playing a teenager, which is also very good.

Hoozz · 22/09/2018 15:02

This is the best thing I've watched all year.
Best spy series since Spooks (which had no sense of humour).
Best women characters since Wanted.
I love the humour in a spy series and Sandra Oh is fabulous. I've only watched two episodes so far but I really really want this to be series one of many.
Compared with Bodyguard this is in a different league.

FanciedAChangeToday · 22/09/2018 21:26

Cant get over Eve's husband looking so much like Kev from "Derek", just seems slightly miscast Grin

Tomboytown · 22/09/2018 21:27

I’m annoyed that I wasted precious hours on this

0hCrepe · 22/09/2018 21:44

Hours? Why did you persist?

2rebecca · 23/09/2018 00:14

I love the assassin character but find the Eve character irritating. At least she wasn't constantly eating tonight.

PollyFlinderz · 23/09/2018 03:45

I’d be annoyed with myself too if I knew I wasn’t enjoying something but I didn’t have enough sense to switch it off sooner rather than later.

Tomboytown · 23/09/2018 07:10

Folly- I’ve got plenty of sense thank you, did you mean to be so rude?
There no need, we don’t all have to like the same thing

Deathraystare · 23/09/2018 08:09

I'm loving it. Seeing it on BBC not Netflix or whatever so only seen 2 episodes so far. Loving the two female leads and Fiona Shaw as well.

Felt sorry for Sebastian though but of course he was getting to be in the way.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 23/09/2018 08:11

The whole series is available on BBC iPlayer. BBC 3.

placemats · 23/09/2018 10:12

I watched the second episode last night (I've already watched it on iplayer) and I laughed even more this time. The writing and the plot is so clever and the acting is top drawer.

PollyFlinderz · 23/09/2018 11:27

Folly- I’ve got plenty of sense thank you, did you mean to be so rude?

No, I didn’t. But I can see why you thought I was being rude.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 23/09/2018 13:02

La ha placemats so did we.
Sébastien "dealt with" brilliant.

placemats · 23/09/2018 13:27

Lady I know, 'Poor Sébastien'. I especially chuckled at the spilt rice on the floor from the takeaway!

IcedPurple · 23/09/2018 17:08

I love the assassin character but find the Eve character irritating.

Yeah me too, especially with that annoying faux sexy Eastern European spy-girl accent. She's more of a caricature than a character.

IcedPurple · 23/09/2018 17:09

Oops just reread your comment and seems we actually disagree - Eve is annoying indeed but "Vilanelle" much worse I think.

placemats · 23/09/2018 17:15

Eve is the person with the USA accent. Born in England and moved to Connecticut, then back to England. The actress Sandra Oh.

The girl with the 'faux sexy Eastern European spy-girl accent' is the assassin Villanelle. Born in Russia, she speaks many languages, but doesn't like to speak Russian. The whole point of Villanelle is that her life now is a performance. The actress who plays her, Jodie Comer, has a gorgeous scouse accent in real life.

Ledehe · 24/09/2018 19:45

Just finished it. I thought it was fantastic. Can't wait for the next series

TresDesolee · 24/09/2018 21:20

Best thing i’ve seen on telly for absolutely years, possibly since the West Wing (I am old). And it’s so delicious that all the major characters are women, all the best lines go to women, and none of them are motivated by how they relate to men. Properly funny, clever, grown-up stuff.

ISendNoComplimentsToYourMother · 24/09/2018 22:03

Just finished watching. Brilliant unlike that dross Bodyguard which was formulaic & predictable!

Carlita23 · 24/09/2018 22:14

I think I must be strange as I just can't get in to it. I don't think the accents are great, don't find the characters believable, the story line is silly, and just don't get it 🤷🏽‍♀️

TwitterQueen1 · 24/09/2018 22:36

The ending was total rubbish! It completely spoiled it for me - so obviously designed for a second series it made the previous episodes a nonsense. And the whole sexual thing and manner of killing was just unbelievable. I was really enjoying it until then!

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/09/2018 07:21

Totally agree @TwitterQueen1. A fantastic series but the last episode was a letdown.

DollyDayScream · 26/09/2018 10:08

I absolutely love this! It's very rarely that Dh and I can find something to watch that we both love, but we are thoroughly enjoying this. We didn't like the The Bodyguard at all, we thought it was a bit ITV.

We also are blown away by the actress playing Villanelle - she is incredible and must be destined for great things.

That's it really, I just needed to gush about it.
