Can't seem to find a thread.

Looks like a good cast.

I didn't like the ending, it was all far too pat and neat, baddies all got their come-uppance, goodies (except David) all got relatively happy endings...

Also that card in the envelope - the sister (?) would surely have seen that when she was going through the box on his behalf looking for "anything", wouldn't she? She would have said "There's an envelope addressed to you" and he would have asked her to open & read it to him.

Just so much didn't ring true about the endings.

twickletoes · 01/11/2018 15:11

Yes mitzimaybe that's true
Also felt that Jonah was quite detached from lo poor girl is only 20 and lost both parents and he was like here's my number

Wednesdaypig · 01/11/2018 15:16

Also why would she leave a note for Jonah and not Lau? Surely Lau would come first in her thoughts

Inkanta · 01/11/2018 16:54

Yes looked like the envelope was at the top in the box.

I wish Jonah hadn't gone back to slash the tyres. Didn't seem plausible that you would do that. That's what they did in old 1950s movies.

Lau wasn't very likeable I know but poor kid - no letter from mum, losing Jonah and only getting David's mobile number.

Inkanta · 01/11/2018 16:56

Sorry getting mixed up with Jonah and David. Other way round. Confused

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/11/2018 18:44

Yes, I felt as if David was just giving Lau his number out of (British) politeness, not because he expected her to take up his offer...

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/11/2018 19:09

Just made the same mistake - meant Jonas...

Mitzimaybe · 02/11/2018 13:28

I found Lau very likeable, @Inkanta - interesting that you didn't.

Yes I thought at the end, basically Jonah is her stepfather and she has no one else in the world; he could at least have asked her if she wanted to come to England etc. She might not have wanted to but he should have offered more than just a "look me up sometime".

I still didn't understand why she didn't divorce David to marry Jonah - presumably for Lau's sake?

I hope there isn't a second series.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 03/11/2018 07:31

Can someone clarify for me, as I 'background watched' the last couple of episodes as my interest was waning - did David know Lau wasn't his daughter?

MrsReacher1 · 03/11/2018 09:15

So it finished better than it started - that wouldn't have been difficult. Glad I didn't waste any more time on it though.(Just came back to see what you all thought and how it ended)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/11/2018 10:09

did David know Lau wasn't his daughter? I don't think he seemed terribly surprised when Jonas revealed what had happened to Megan (th rape), suggesting that he did know. Despite having been a crooked cop, he was an honourable man

Westwing1 · 03/11/2018 10:11

SheCameFrom - yes David did know in the last episode but he didn't falter just carried on exactly as he had before being a great Dad.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 I do love Informer, only 2 episodes in but it's fab.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/11/2018 10:18

"Westwing1* glad you're enjoying Informer - great TV and different enough from usual police procedurals to be a true breath of fresh air. In some ways it reminds me a bit of Rellik (knowing the outcome first and then piecing together the events leading up to it).

Chuggachuggatoottoot · 03/11/2018 11:28

What did it say in the envelope at the end?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/11/2018 13:04

Answered upthread somewhere Chugga:

'It was always you, Jonah'

So basically rubbishing her twenty year relationship with David

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 03/11/2018 14:20

Thanks NMA and Westwing, it was his lack of surprise/reaction that had me baffled
